Breaking: Jeff Zucker Steps Down at NBC

You won’t have Jeff Zucker to kick around anymore. According to the New York Times ‘ Bill Carter , Zucker sent an e-mail this morning to his employees informing them that he would set down as CEO of NBC Universal when the Comcast takeover of the company was complete. “Look, I knew from the day this was announced that this was a possibility,” Zucker told Carter. “I wasn’t going to shut the door on anything. But in the last nine months it became increasingly clear that [Comcast] did want to put their own team in place — and I didn’t want to end up being a guest in my own house.” Developing… [ NYT /Media Decoder ]

Watch the Entire Justin Bieber CSI Saga in Two Minutes

For weeks, the anticipation has been quite high for Justin Bieber’s primetime network acting debut on CSI . And I’m sure every parent was absolutely thrilled to let their ten-year-old daughter stay up late to watch a graphic crime drama featuring digitally enhanced guided camera tours of rotting corpses (“no, Sally, that will never be you. I promise”). Well, parents — and the otherwise strangely curious (like me) — are in luck. TV Squad condensed the entire episode into two, Bieberific minutes. What did we learn about Bieber’s acting skills? Not a whole lot since the other actors on-screen did most of the talking, but this George Eads fellow is terrific!

Time to Pick Undercovers’s Most Ludicrous Screen Shot: Stabbing North by Northwestward

Did you watch Undercovers last night? Big secret: It was like if Chuck didn’t know its main demo is 11-year-olds. Because on Undercovers , these married, balcony-hopping spies are real adults who are quite serious about playing grab-ass on the job, says producer J.J. Abrams. Well, despite the hotness of stars Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, the pilot was pulpy and full of cliche spy stuff — including the following screenshot, the most hilarious candidate in a pool of thousands.

Potential Oscar Nominee James Franco Gets ‘D’ in Acting Class

James Franco will be in the thick of the Oscar race this year thanks to his performance in 127 Hours , but that doesn’t mean everyone thinks he’s a good actor. At the premiere of Howl last night, Franco revealed he got a ‘D’ in a recent acting class at NYU, though he isn’t sure how that happened. “I did the work, I did well in everything else,” he told Roger Friedman . Maybe his teacher saw Flyboys . [ Showbiz411 ]

Sesame Workshop Cites ‘Parent,’ ‘Care-Giver’ Demos in Katy Perry Snafu

This just in: ” Sesame Street has a long history of working with celebrities across all genres, including athletes, actors, musicians and artists. Sesame Street has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or care-giver. We also value our viewer’s opinions and particularly those of parents. In light of the feedback we’ve received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on You Tube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street , which is aimed at preschoolers. Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on You Tube.” Thank God, because the comments are hilarious . [ Sesame Workshop ]

Get Ready to Explore Even More Layers in Inception Video Game

At a Rome press conference for Inception , director Christopher Nolan unveiled plans to develop an video game version of the blockbuster that will explore “all kinds of ideas that you can’t fit into a feature film.” No word on whether these ideas involve mind-bending dream puzzles or just more snow-mobile chases and shootouts with faceless goons in the Arctic. Still, if Nolan oversees this it may change the tune of those who dismiss video games as a lesser art form and encourage more major directors to explore the medium. [ Hollywood Reporter ]

On DVD: With 15 Extra Minutes, Seeing Robin Hood is Even More Disbelieving

Only about 10 million Americans resisted the critics’ irritated wailings and bought tickets for Ridley Scott’s mastodon movie Robin Hood this spring, and so the rest of us, now that the DVD is here, can find out what all the non-fuss was about. Even with 15 extra minutes thrown in for “the director’s cut,” it’s truly not an awful movie — it’s just so hugely redundant of other movies, and so brutally humorless, that when you watch it your brain begins to react like it’s trapped in a sensory deprivation tank.
