Meghan King Edmonds Covers Latina Magazine, Hears It From Critics

Meghan King Edmonds stars on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. And we say this with no disrespect nor any judgment of any kind, really, but… … it may very well be the whitest show on television. Each week, this Bravo series just pits one spoiled rich white woman against each other, as one First World Problem after another is discussed and dissected in nauseating detail. Doesn’t mean the program isn’t entertaining. It’s just… very white. This likely explains the outcry by some on the Internet in response to Edmonds being featured on the latest cover of Latina Magazine. The reality star, who is pregnant with her second child , at least seems to recognize that she isn’t the typical main subject of this particular publication. First, she shared the following image on Instagram: Then, she included the following caption along with it. “I’m so proud and honored to be on the cover of @latinamagazine1 and represent @glamarella_jewelry!” wrote the cable network personality, adding: “I loved doing this shoot right after I found out I was pregnant! No, I’m not Latina but I was asked to be on the cover and talk about my life and #RHOC in the cover story so I guess I’m blessed to be an honorary Latina this month! “(By the way, big shout out to my husband for my engagement ring that got a front and center shot!)” Ah yes, an “honorary Latina.” It’s safe to say this cover shoot and this phrase didn’t sit well with readers of the magazine. “Dressed up the nice white lady to look like a Latina for Latina magazine because?” wrote one dissatisfied Internet user. “This is the same as black facing only for Latinas now! What a fail.” Not exactly, of course. It would maybe the same if Edmonds’ skin was darkened or she was wearing a sombrero or something. But general point still taken. Other critics laid into Latina for putting “white privilege” on display, while another person chimed in with: “This is beyond disappointing and such a slap in the face to the ENTIRE community. Shame on you!” This magazine does consistently feature prominent Latinas such as Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez, Paulina Rubio, Jessica Alba, Shakira, Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, Eva Mendes, Christina Aguilera, Naya Rivera, America Ferrera and even Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. The November 2015 issue featured girl group Fifth Harmony, whose three out of five members are Latinas, marking the first time two non-Latinas were featured on the cover of the magazine. So this was a trend that started a couple years ago. What do you think of this supposed scandal? Do the haters have a point? Or should everyone be okay with Latina diversifying its cover subjects a bit? Eva Amurri Lashes Out at Critics: Parenthood is Not a Competition!

Earlier this week, Eva Amurri Martino made a startling confession: In a blog post she penned on New Year’s Day, the actress revealed on her website, HappilyEvaAfter.com, that her 10-week-old son Major James, “ cracked his head on the hardwood floor ” after the family’s night nurse fell asleep while holding him. How awful, right? Martino explained what happened and the aftermath as follows: “He suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on his brain, and was transported by ambulance to Yale Medical Center. “I spent two harrowing days with him to receive emergency care and further testing. To say these were the most traumatic and anxious two days of my life is an understatement.” We can only imagine. Our only reaction to this story was to send Eva and her husband our best wishes and our hope that their child makes a full recovery. But some folks out there felt differently. They took issue with Eva having a night nurse in the first place, questioning how she can consider herself to be a responsible parent if someone else is holding, feeding and rocking her baby at home. Why? Because people suck. They think that an Internet connection gives them a right to share every asinine opinion that comes into their head. In response to the incident, her sharing of it and the response it has received, Eva at first showed gratitude to her fans. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out with words of comfort or to share their own stories the past 24 hours,” she wrote on Instagram today, as the opening to a lengthy caption. She continued: “It is so moving to know there are so many of you who are wishing our sweet boy well, and who are rooting us on as a family.” The daughter of Susan Sarandon then addressed her critics. “I’d like to say one thing, which is that Parenthood is not a competition. Nobody gets an award at the end of all of it for doing it the best or most perfect way. “All that matters is how we make our children feel, how we feel about them, and how we feel about ourselves as parents.” Really. Shouldn’t this be obvious? “To those who have expressed judgement, cruelty, and criticism of me, my choices, or my fragility during this time- I’m not going to justify myself to you,” she concluded. “But I sincerely wish that 2017 brings you enough self love and confidence that you no longer feel the need to tear down another person during their darkest moment. “Peace, please. Xx EAM.” She’s a bigger person than we are. We’d have likely used certain words in our reply that our children will hopefully not learn until their teenage years. We’re not above making fun of certain parents out there in a jovial manner. See what we mean below: View Slideshow: 18 Cute Kids Who Deserve Better Parents But when a mother just say at her baby’s hospital bedside for days due to a simple accident? You really need to question her life choices if you hide behind a computer and give her crap after that.

RZA Responds To Azealia Banks’ Rant About Him Not Defending Her Against Russell Crowe

RZA Speaks Out On Azealia Banks’ Russell Crowe Incident Azealia Banks has spoken out right and left about what happened the night she got kicked out of Russell Crowe’s suite while attending a get together as RZA’s guest. After being verbally attacked and put down by Azealia for his refusal to defend her…RZA is finally giving his side of the story. Azealia’s account is one of violence and victimization at the hands of a Hollywood A-lister…one which she was called racial slurs while everyone else in the room looked on silently. However according to RZA, though he had given her a chance despite her reputation and helped her with anything she asked…Azealia WILDED THE FAWK OUT at a party he invited her to, embarrassed herself and him in the process, and physically attacked another guest for no reason. He essentially said there was nothing to defend, because her actions were indefensible… It sounds like he really took a chance on her and she ended up proving all the critics that warned him about her absolutely right. We aren’t sure what’s up with Azealia, but hopefully she’ll be happier and figure out how to stay out of trouble. Instagram/Splash/WENN

For Discussion: Shaunie O’Neal Says Critics Go Harder On BBWLA Because The Ladies Aren’t White Like RHONY

Shaunie O’Neal Says Critics Go Harder On BBWLA Because Of Race Do people criticize shows like BBW because the casts are predominately Black? Basketball Wives creator Shaunie O’Neal recently sat down with The Undefeated about the reality show’s scrutiny. Shaunie points out that the only difference between her show and shows like Real Housewives of New York is skin color… “They’re a little harder on us, for whatever reason … but there’s nothing going on in Basketball Wives that isn’t going on with Real Housewives of New York. Hell, most of the time I think we’re a lot tamer,” she said, laughing. “And sometimes, honestly I agree [with the critics]. It’s not a proud moment for me [when we’re fighting]. Did it happen? Yes. Do you expect VH1 to leave that on the cutting room floor? Absolutely not.” She said though, that she’s not a puppeteer. “Our show, it’s a 110 percent real.” What’s the real difference? Discuss. VH1

Madonna Defends Prince Tribute, Sends Message to Critics

Madonna would like to apologize to anyone who has an issue with her tribute to Prince at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. She understands your criticism and she didn’t mean to offend you and she knows she did not do the late musician proud and… … JUST KIDDING! Does that sound remotely like Madonna to you? Just hours after The Material Girl sang a version of “Nothing Compares 2 U” and then joined Steve Wonder for a duet of “Purple Rain,” BET called out Madonna for what that network deemed to be a terrible performance. Hyping its own Prince tribute at the BET Awards on June 16, this is what the network Tweeted: See the message on the bottom? Pretty harsh, huh? Even before Madonna took to the Billboard Music Awards stage, a change.org petition compiled over 8,000 signatures, urging almost any big name aside from this legendary artist to honor Prince, who died on April 21 at the age of 57. This, despite the fact that Madonna collaborated with Prince back in 1989 and even once dated the superstar. Madonna and Stevie Wonder Honor Prince at Billboard Music Awards What does Madonna have to say to these critics? “Deal with it,” she wrote last night on Instagram alongside a photo of her decked in an all-purple getup. Several hours later, she returned to elaborate via a second post: “Anyone who wants to do a tribute to Prince is welcome to. Whatever your age Gender or skin Color. If you loved him and he inspired you then show it!!!! I love Prince 4 ever.” Sounds pretty reasonable, doesn’t it? With so many awards shows on the docket, we can expect an endless number of Prince-themed performances over the next few months. Instead of criticizing the ones you don’t like, let’s all use them as an opportunity to remember the reason why they exist in the first place: Prince is dead. Prince is an icon. And Prince deserves to be honored in as many ways as Hollywood can honor him. View Slideshow: Billboard Music Awards 2016: Watch the Performances!
