Berlinale Dispatch: The Good News (and Bad News) About Iran

There are just two days of screenings left at the Berlinale — the prizes are awarded on Sunday — but today is my last day at the festival, my day of reckoning. This is the point at which I look back on everything I’ve seen and, more wrenchingly, tote up everything I wanted to see but missed. While I’ve tried to chase down most of the films screening in competition here, day by day my colleagues have been feeding me recommendations from the Panorama and Forum sections of the festival, which showcase films that generally have smaller budgets and take larger risks. I didn’t get to see many of those pictures, and that’s where my deepest regret lies.

The 2010 Hollywood Style Awards: No Prizes For The Social Network Here

While critics and awards groups spent the weekend fawning over The Social Network , one star-studded awards show went down with little acknowledgment of the critical juggernaut. Last night, our parent company MMC helped honor film and television fashion at the 2010 Hollywood Style Awards with The Palazzo Las Vegas, Klipsch and FRS ® Healthy Energy® (Or, let’s say “The Hollywood Style Awards” for short). While they chose not to honor Mark Zuckerburg’s admirable tenacity to shorts and sandals, the event did yield a possible hint about Finn and Rachel’s relationship on Glee , news from Kate Bosworth that T-shirts are still in style and more. Here’s a rundown of the prizes and a few highlights from coverage so far.

Have you been wishing for a DeLorean to take you to a time where blockbusters were more than just comic book/children’s toy/amusement park ride adaptations and 3-D conversions weren’t driving up ticket prices? I have good news. In honor of its 25th anniversary, AMC theaters will screen Back to the Future Saturday October 23rd at 12:30PM and Monday October 25th at 7:00PM on 158 screens in over 40 cities. A whole lot of ‘Hurt’ – Mon, 08 Mar 2010 PST (The Spokesman-Review)

LOS ANGELES – The Iraq war drama “The Hurt Locker” won best picture and five other prizes Sunday at the Academy Awards, its haul including best director for Kathryn Bigelow. Bigelow is the first woman in the 82-year history of the Oscars to earn Hollywood’s top prize for filmmakers.
