Singer Ari Lennox On Transphobic And Homophobic People: “Unfollow And Unsubscribe”

Though she is best known for her effortless vocals, singer Ari Lennox took time on Monday to address any of her social media followers who subscribe to anti-LGBTQ ideals. The S hea Butter Baby vocalist tweeted a series of thoughts in support of the LGBTQ community after an unknown situation prompted her to speak out. “I hate homophobic and transphobic people so much,” she began. Email Submit Lennox then used her platform to delve further into why she used the word hate to describe her feelings after her mentions began to blow up. “I am also aware of how strong of a word hate is. So buzz off. If you’re homophobic and transphobic idfwu,” she wrote. “Please if you don’t support [the] LGBTQ community, you don’t support me,” Lennox continued. “You don’t support my family and the people I love. So all you delusional and fake-religious/self-righteous weirdos unfollow and unsubscribe.” “To be gay is beautiful. It is natural. One doesn’t have to experience trauma to be gay,” Lennox writes, dismantling the argument that anyone who is LGBTQ came to be so because of some type of sexual perversion. “Yes I believe people are born that way. Yes I hate people who hate gay people. If there is a God I believe he made us in his image and made no mistakes.” I didn’t hear God say ANY of what you homophobic and transphobic and bigots be talm bout — Ari Lennox (@AriLennox) September 3, 2019 The D.C. native went on to address the “gay agenda,” a thoughtless theory which suggests that the media and public figures are working together to tout LGBTQ ideals. “I don’t believe in “Gay Agenda.” No agenda can alter what is already innate. No religion or media or bully can convince me that true love is unnatural,” Lennox wrote. But her argument became personal once she shared her experience of watching her sister be ostracized by family members for marrying a woman. “I have family members that didn’t show up to meh own sister’s wedding because she married a woman. You can’t support your own flesh and blood because of unhealthy condition from religion and media. People really live their short lives in a mental prison, she continued. “People were gay from the beginning of time and will be long after we are gone,” she wrote in her last tweet. Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). After her tweets went viral, Lennox logged onto Twitter on Tuesday to respond to the criticism she faced by those who believe otherwise. “Also I’m not an atheist buy obviously if you church people feel so bothered by my views, why the hell you listening to my raunchy secular music? Once again foh” “going out of your way to express how you don’t agree with someone’s SEXUAL PREFERENCE is simply uncalled for…People love every opportunity to insert the STRAIGHT agenda,” she wrote. “It’s mind boggling how the media and religion has promoted A whole straight agenda for years and y’all can’t take an INCH of any type of diversity and spice on your programming.” Lennox’s thoughts remind us of the ways in which we dehumanize and dishonor one another. And as a Black woman, the recalling of watching family member’s withhold their support for their LGBTQ family members is not a singular event. There are so many of us with mother’s father’s, aunties, uncles, cousins, whom have had to live a double life in order to shield themselves from disdain all because of who they love. Until we can love and respect one another in dismantling internalized notions of respectability and white supremacy, we will never truly be free. Kim Kardashian to Star In True Crime Documentary!

Kim Kardashian is about to show us a side of her that we have never seen.  And honestly, never in a million years thought we would.  But the time has finally come — we must all prepare ourselves to meet the new and improved lawyer Kim in her not so red-carpet environment. That’s right. We will actually get to press pause on all the Kardashian clan’s drama and finally get to watch sista Kim do something a little more, well, productive.  The reality queen is breaking out of her E! Kingdom and heading on over to the NBC affiliated channel Oxygen to show off her more serious, Elle Woods side.  Oxygen Media has recently greenlighted five new series, including Kim’s new show, Kim Kardashian: The Justice Project (working title). The new 2-hour documentary will follow  Kim’s campaign for criminal justice reform and her efforts to grant freedom for Americans who she believes have been wronged by the justice system. According to a press release, the project promises “an exclusive, never before seen look inside her mission to tackle one of America’s most controversial subjects.” Kim is fully on board and is serving as executive producer alongside Bunim Murray Production with Gil Goldschein, Julie Pizzi and Farnaz Farjam.  The new program comes after Kim recently publicized her decision to become a lawyer and after she freed Alice Marie Johnson.  Alice happens to be her most notable case , though we recently learned she is not the only person to have been pardoned by Mrs. Kardashian-West.  According to TMZ , Kim has secretly freed over 17 inmates — all in the past 3 months!  She has secured pardons for several of these first-time non-violent offenders who were locked up on drug charges, many of whom were serving life sentences.  Kim’s team — who deals more with the legalities, rather than footing the bills or landing a meeting with the President — consists of her lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, along with lawyer MiAngel Cody. Barnett says without Kim’s financial support, none of this would’ve been possible.  But don’t be fooled, she does way more than just handle all the legal fees.  “Our relationships with our clients don’t end when they are freed. [Kim] is truly dedicated to the issue,” Barnett said. “I work personally with her, we are really grateful.” And while some may find it unusual that Kim hasn’t been sharing these success stories with her 60 million Twitter followers, Barnett says it’s because they have all been extremely “busy.” “[Kim] has been on the phone as we’ve told clients they are coming home,” Barnett said.  “I think one, she really wants to be taken seriously, so she is really focused on learning the system and the people who are directly impacted.” “That takes a lot of focus, too. It’s not always amplified with social media.” But we can now rest easy knowing that we will still get to keep up with this Kardashian as she works to reform the prison system.  This upcoming documentary is part of a large slate of new programming from Oxygen with Ice-T, Mark Whalberg, Nancy Grace and more all involved with prominent issues.  “Oxygen is tremendously excited to work with some of the biggest names in the industry on such important projects,” Rod Aissa, executive vice president of original programming and development for Oxygen, said in a statement.  “This year we’ve increased our original hours by more than 30 percent, and we’ll keep ramping up our programming efforts as more fans flock to the network to experience the best in class content.”  Premiere dates have yet to be released, but we are so ready.  View Slideshow: Kanye West: I’ve Been Used! Kristoff St. John: Mourned, Honored by Young and the Restless Co-Stars

It’s been close to three months since  Kristoff St. John died at the age of 52 . But his loss is still being felt by those in the entertainment industry, most notably those who worked with the actor closely. With a multiple-episode arc having kicked off yesterday in honor of St. John, a number of The Young and the Restless stars have taken to social media to once again pay tribute to their late friend. This tribute began with many individuals on the series learning about the passing of Neil Winters, the character St. John inhabited for decades. This news was first learned by his son, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), who was seen crying as he came down the stairs. Hamilton later revealed the death to his sister, Lili Winters (Christel Khalil), although fans were unable to hear the conversation due to somber music that started to play. As of this writing, viewers have not yet been informed just how Neil died on the series. On Thursday, however, former veteran cast member Shemar Moore will stop by in order to mourn his character’s close pal and his very good friend in real life, teasing the appearance on Twitter as follows: Our @youngandrestlesscbs farewell to my BROTHER and BEST FRIEND Kristoff St. John begins Thursday, April 25… It looks and sounds very much as if Neil’s funeral will air tomorrow. It will be attended by Moore and other alums of The Young and the Restless, such as Christel Khalil and Eileen Davidson. Following St. John’s passing on February 3, an awful development caused by hypertrophic heart disease due to alcohol abuse , Moore was among the cast members and fans who openly mourned the actor on Twitter and/or Instagram. “I lost my brother yesterday,” Moore said at the time , continuing as follows: “I never had a brother, but you were my brother. You showed me the way. You were my mentor, you were my inspiration. You showed me what true talent was. “You showed me what humility was. I love you. I hate this. I love you, but I’m going to celebrate all your good.” Speaking to People Magazine that same month, Moore said that St. John was “truly the closest thing to a brother and a brother’s love and a brother’s mentorship that I’ve ever known.” He added: “He didn’t have to embrace me the way he did. When I came in and was trying to find my way and he saw how scared I was, he saw how nervous I was. “He saw my six pack and all that, but he just saw me and he embraced me like a brother. If he hadn’t embraced me, I would have never got my sure footing in the beginning days.” Elsewhere this week, along similar lines, Daniel Goddard shared a picture of himself with several of his co-stars from early March, when they attended the funeral for St. John. In the caption, the actor asked followers to share their favorite Neil storyline from the show — or to post stories of meeting St. John in anticipation of The Young and the Restless episodes to come. The responses were overwhelming. And beautiful. “He was an amazing man. Getting to meet him at the hospital was an honor and a privilege,” one fan wrote. “He congratulated me for being a young surgeon and told me how proud he was of me, and that meant the world to me.” St. John lost his son to suicide in 2014 and talked openly about the pain, something many other fans referenced in their own tributes to the star. “I admire his openness when discussing the loss of his son,” one follower explained. “To allow strangers access to that pain in the hope of helping others. God bless you, Kristoff. May your soul find peace as you are reunited with your son.” Amen. May Kristoff St. John rest in peace. Hannah Anderson Attends Fundraiser in First Appearance Since Abduction

Hannah Anderson , the 16-year-old rescued Saturday from her alleged abductor James DiMaggio, made her first public appearance since her ordeal. Hannah Anderson Makes First Public Appearance On Thursday afternoon, the teenager attended a fundraiser in the San Diego community of Lakeside where she lived with her mother and brother. Both of whom were killed August 4 prior to Hannah being kidnapped by family friend DiMaggio, who was shot to death by police Saturday in Idaho. The Lakeside Boll Weevil restaurant was reportedly holding a fundraiser in the family’s honor with 20 percent of sales going to the Anderson family. Wearing sunglasses, Hannah Anderson emerged out from a car and was quickly ushered into the restaurant away from the media. She offered no comment. Later, Anderson’s father, Brett, emerged and spoke to reporters. “This is a small community that we are a part of. The community came together putting on this great fundraiser for Hannah… and this is how Lakeside rolls.” “So I just wanted to say how much we appreciate it from everybody, the community, family, friends for being here … and local sheriffs and law enforcement.” Brett said he spoke with the horsemen who spotted Hannah, a tip that led to her being found with DiMaggio in Idaho, by phone and thanked them. “It was a chance encounter, but it did save my daughter’s life. Other than that, Hannah sends her love. She’s doing good day by day,” her dad said. “We’ll just keep moving forward from there.” Hannah Anderson Rescued, James DiMaggio Killed Meanwhile, search warrants unsealed Wednesday revealed that DiMaggio tortured Hannah Anderson’s mother and brother before killing them. DiMaggio and Hannah Anderson reportedly exchanged about 13 calls before Hannah was picked up from cheerleading practice on August 4. Both phones were turned off, and the home was burned several hours later. DiMaggio, 40, was like an uncle to the kids. The warrants describe how DiMaggio took Hannah on multi-day trips, most recently to Malibu and Hollywood. Since her rescue, Anderson supposedly made online postings Monday in which she fielded questions on social media about herself and her ordeal. A mother of a close friend of Anderson confirmed the postings were hers. Asked if she preferred DiMaggio would have been sentenced to prison instead of being killed by authorities, Anderson said, “He deserved what he got.”
