There are some impressive skills on display at the 2014 Commonwealth Games currently underway in Glasgow. But for all the young athletes at the height of their talent, no one has been more awe-inspiring than 88-year-old Queen Elizabeth II, who proved today that she’s not only the Queen of England, she’s also the Queen of the Photobomb. Back in June, Elizabeth II visited the Game of Thrones set , where she eyed the Iron Throne with the steely calm of a woman who knew she could make it hers in a heartbeat. “I’m the baddest queen out. Cersei ain’t got sh-t on me,” the Queen was heard to remark when greeting the show’s cast. Okay, not really, but that’s pretty much the only way she should get any cooler these days.

The royals will do ANYTHING to avoid a scandal. I think it’s more likely QEII will just REFUSE to die until after Prince Charles kicks it, so never does become king. Poor guy. And I know what I’m doing.” But that doesn’t mean there aren’t missteps along the way. Some truly epic photos of Queen Elizabeth at her beloved Balmoral Estate in Scotland have hit the web, and her majesty has never looked better. Or more badass. The ruler is seen donning the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, as predecessors have for centuries, in an idyllic spot on her land. Monarchies rule. Photographer Julian Calder said of the shot , “we wanted to photograph the Queen as the Queen of Scots and I wanted to do it as a [Sir Henry Raeburn] painting.” “He did paintings of Scottish clan chiefs.” “I thought they were very romantic. In the picture the Queen is obviously looking at us but we wanted to have her looking at the massed clans on the distant hills.” The photograph also shows the Queen wearing the Collar of the Order, made from gold thistles and rue sprigs, and a tiny St. Andrew and his saltire cross. The epic images of the Queen were taken three years ago but has been kept under wraps until Monday, when it was published in Weekend magazine. It is one of 100 portraits in a new book called Keepers, published to mark the 60th anniversary of her Coronation in 2012. Yes, it’s been 61 years. Elizabeth, 87, was 84 at the time of this photograph. Elizabeth agreed to the idea after being approached by the book’s author Alastair Bruce, a Royal commentator and a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce. Queen Elizabeth II was hospitalized today at London’s King Edward VII Hospital, Palace sources confirm to E! News, for symptoms related to gastroenteritis. Her Highness is expected to remain under physician care for about 48 hours for this stomach infection, says press officer James Roscoe. “She went to the hospital today at around 3 p.m. GMT. She is in good spirits, besides the symptoms of gastroenteritis,” Roscoe says . “Doctors are saying she should be in hospital for a couple days.” The 86-year old monarch has canceled a trip to Rome as a result of the illness.
