So Scary: #LHHH’s Lyrica Says She ‘Thought She Was Dying’ After Giving Birth To Baby Ocean

Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / FayesVision/WENN.com Lyrica Anderson Shares Pregnancy Complications Lyrica Anderson is a proud new mom to baby Ocean Zion Bentley, but before basking in bliss with her baby boy she had a scare. Lyrica and her hubby A-1 welcomed their son last week but according to Lyrica, she had shocking complications including convulsions and a high fever. The “Love and Hip Hop Hollywood” star told TMZ via her hospital bed that she initially worried she’d deliver baby Ocean early due to the stress of LHHHH and the Safaree accusations—but luckily made it full term. “First of all, it was a tough pregnancy. Not the symptoms, well the symptoms a little bit, but it was just a lot of emotional things going on and I just kept worrying that I didn’t want to have like an accidental early birth or go into labor from stress or anything like that,” she said. “So, praise God, I made it with my full term. And then, I thought I was in the clear.” After giving birth, however, her temperature went sky high and she started shaking and itching uncontrollably. Lyrica was so scared that she actually thought she was dying. “Once we had the baby I was like, ‘Oh my God, we did it!’ Everything was ok. And then after the birth is when it got a little traumatic,” she said. “I ran a super high fever out of nowhere. I started going into some sort of convulsions. I couldn’t stop shaking for a good seven hours straight. Just shaking, shaking, shaking with a fever, and then I couldn’t stop itching. They had to literally bring toothbrushes in my room to let me scratch my skin so that I wouldn’t pierce my skin. And it was the scariest thing because I’m shaking and itching. I literally thought I was dying. Like, honestly I was so scared. Why am I shaking so much?” Source: Gabriel Olsen / Getty She also added that she thought she was having a heart attack but luckily the chest pains passed. She’s now recovering. “They said that they’ve seen bad reactions but that was like one of the worst that they’ve seen, so they were definitely concerned,” she said. “They were constantly checking my vitals to make sure that my heart — ’cause I got really bad chest pains. I was like, I want to make sure I’m not having a heart attack. They were constantly checking my heart, constantly checking my blood, my temperature and everything. They’ve had me on very close watch. They’ve done, actually, a really good job, so I’m happy about that. I’m still really weak when I stand up. I have the most energy when I’m sitting…It’s when I get up and walk around that I’m real weak and faint-ish. They said it’s going to get better with time.” Lyrica’s since gone home with baby Ocean… but so far she’s not showing her baby’s face. We’re glad to hear that Lyrica’s doing much better after having those scary complications.

Ebola In America? NY Patient Being Tested For Virus, High Fever Upon Return From West Africa

This is some scary isht… Possible Case Of Ebola Hits The United States Ebola is making a resurgence in Liberia and throughout West Africa , but now an American traveler may have brought the virus back with him after a trip to an African nation experiencing an outbreak. Via MailOnline : New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital is treating a sick male patient who recently returned from a West African country where the Ebola virus has been reported. The patient arrived at the hospital’s emergency room early on Monday morning with ‘a high fever and gastrointestinal symptoms,’ according to a statement from the hospital. The patient has been isolated and is undergoing diagnostic testing for Ebola, but also for other illnesses that could cause his symptoms. ‘All necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff,’ the hospital said in a statement. ‘We will continue to work closely with federal, state and city health officials to address and monitor this case, keep the community informed and provide the best quality care to all of our patients.’ The Department of Health has since released a statement stating that the patient is unlikely to have the deadly disease. ‘After consultation with CDC and Mount Sinai, the Health Department has concluded that the patient is unlikely to have Ebola. Specimens are being tested for common causes of illness and to definitively exclude Ebola,’ read the statement. Hospital officials say they hope to have an answer in the next 24 to 48 hours, but they say the symptoms are common in other illnesses. They say it’s “unlikely…” but how comfortable does that make you??

Missy Elliott Reveals Battle With Graves’ Disease

Rapper has been undergoing radiation to treat the thyroid condition. By Gil Kaufman Missy Elliott Photo: Astrid Stawiarz/ Getty Images For a while, Missy Elliott was everywhere you looked. The rapper/producer released a string of offbeat smash hits and landmark music videos in the late 1990s and early 2000s that stretched from her breakthrough single “The Rain” in 1997 to 2001’s “Get Ur Freak On” and 2002’s “Work It.” But after a couple of softer-selling efforts in the mid 2000s, Elliott seemed to fall off the radar. Now the increasingly reclusive MC has explained why her long-promised comeback album, Block Party, has been so long in coming and where she’s been for the past three years. The 39-year-old Grammy winner told People magazine that she’s battling the autoimmune disorder Graves’ disease. “You live with it for the rest of your life,” Elliott said. Elliott was diagnosed with the disease in 2008, and she’s suffered from a litany of effects, including a loss of some motor skills, dizzy spells, lumps in her throat, mood swings, hair loss, a fast heart rate and bulging eyes. She underwent radiation treatment, has been taking medication and said she’s now feeling better. The disease affects the thyroid gland, whose hormones regulate the body’s metabolism and affect mood, weight and energy. It causes hyperthyroidism, which produces an excess of the thyroid hormone, causing the symptoms Elliott discussed, as well as anxiety, double vision and muscle weakness. Though the symptoms are uncomfortable, when caught early and treated, long-term health effects can be avoided. The weakness was so bad, Elliott said , that she nearly crashed her car because she couldn’t press down on the brake, and she could hardly even hold a pen in her hand. “I’m 30 pounds lighter because I’ve been exercising,” said Elliott, who will be the first subject of the upcoming season of VH1’s “Behind the Music” biography series on June 29. “My thyroid is functioning, so I haven’t had to take medication in about nine months.” Related Artists Missy Elliott

Why Do Some Women Really Have Sex?

Men like sex; and actually many women do too. It’s safe to assume that both men and women enjoy the act of reaching a sexual climax (aka gettin’ it in) and therefore make conscious efforts to engage in sexual activity; but is it all for the same reason? Although a general statement, it can be assumed why most men have sex, and we know it doesn’t always involve love or even like; but studies show that for women it may be a bit more complex. For some women, the choice of having sex isn’t just to act out new sexual techniques they’ve acquired while reading a juicy Zane novel or even to fulfill strong sexual desires. So why do some women really choose to have sex? A study conducted by the Queensland Institute of Technology recently surfaced throughout the web. The study found that one in three women have gotten the blues after sex at least once in their lives; and 10 percent reported frequently or almost always feeling sad after sex. According to the study, the symptoms include melancholy, tearfulness, anxiety, irritability or feeling of restlessness. So while some women roll over after sex feeling calmed, relaxed and ready for a cigarette, others are one step away from depression. ( Continue reading… )
