Police say a bearded, bald, Black man between the ages of 20 and 35 entered the house and shot Roberts in the chest and fled the scene. Roberts’s family said he had a “heart of gold” and had no known enemies. They said he was not “mixed up in anything bad.” Neighbor Donald Monk spoke with Roberts grandmother. “She was saying that she knew some of his so-called friends but she doesn’t know who it was, why they would do it to him,” he told KPIX 5. “She didn’t know.” Rest in peace, Terrell Roberts. Our prayers go out to his family, friends, and former teammates who are grieving.
Celebrity feuds on Twitter — we love ’em, don’t we, folks? Of course, they’re a little more entertaining when neither of the combatants has access to the nuclear launch codes. Yes, we’re the first to get our popcorn out when it’s Taylor Swift vs. Kim Kardashian , Round 47. But when Donald Trump is attacking Chrissy Teigen our first thought is one of mere sympathy for the beleaguered intern in charge of changing the Presiden’s Depends. Speaking of Ms. Kardashian-West, here’s a little backstory before we get into what went down between the leader of the free world and a popular Twitter personality last night: As you may recall, Kim has dedicated much of her time to criminal justice reform in recent months, securing presidential pardons for numerous non-violent offenders who had been serving life sentences on drug charges. Obviously, that’s a very good thing, and Kim was one of the prominent figures who received credit during an MSNBC special on America’s incarceration crisis Sunday night. Trump received credit, too, but … it wasn’t enough? We’re not really sure what exactly got his goat, but for some reason, the President of the United States of America unleashed a tweetstorm while hate-watching the show. “I SIGNED IT INTO LAW, no one else did, & Republicans deserve much credit. But now that it is passed, people that had virtually nothing to do with it are taking the praise,” the Donald began, as only the Donald can. “Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is – but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed,” Trump continued. As you might imagine, Chrissy wasn’t thrilled to find that the most powerful man in the world had randomly decided to sic his minions on her on a Sunday night. But she certainly had no trouble seeing the humor in the situation. “lol what a p-ssy ass b-tch,” Teigen tweeted. “Tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president.” Politics aside, we can all agree that attacking someone that viciously without tagging them is, without question, a p-ssy move. And as Chrissy pointed out, that’s not the only way in which Trump’s latest tantrum was one of his most ridiculous to date: “The absolute best part of his tweet is I literally didn’t speak in the special, nor was I mentioned,” she tweeted. “I’m cackling at the pointless addition of me because he cannot not be a bitch.” Fortunately, it wasn’t long before life returned to normal in the Legend-Teigen household, as Chrissy helped her daughter prepare for her first day of school. “Luna, remember the night before your first day of school? When mommy was making your sign and the p-ssy ass b-tch president had his 9th meltdown of the day? Sadly, the night soon took a turn for the worse, thanks to a sauce-related mishap. “F—ck I got pasta on my couch. karma is a p-ssy ass b-tch,” Teigen tweeted to end the night. That’s rough. Folks, let’s lend Chrissy our support and whatever cleaning tips we might have during this trying time.
We are one week away from learning the identiy of the next Bachelor on ABC. The upcoming star of the 2020 season will be announced on the Bachelor in Paradise reunion special, which will air on September 17. But here’s the thing: We already know the identity of the next Bachelor on ABC. Thanks to a handful of The Bachelor spoilers , led by the ever-reliable Reality Steve, we can very safely announce that Peter Weber will be the man to walk across that stage in a few days. He’s best known for three things: Being perfectly nice and harmless. Having sex in a windmill four times in one night with Hannah Brown on The Bachelorette. Not being Mike Johnson. Indeed, everyone mostly likes Peter Weber. But almost everyone absolutely loves Mike Johnson. And that was before we found this photo of Johnson and a baby lamb… Immediately upon Brown giving Johnson the boot, fans started clamoring for him to take up the mantle of The Bachelor. He’s charming, he’s funny, he’s entertaining and, yes, he’s African-American. Diversity is a good thing, right? Now, however, we’ve come to find out that Johnson was never even contacted by ABC executives for the gig. NEVER! NOT ONCE! This is both crushing and also confounding. Every year, Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss claims that selecting each season’s leading man is a difficult choice and that the network has a number of options to consider… … and then every year The Bachelor just chooses the second or third-place finisher from the previous season of The Bachelorette — who is always white, of course. It’s easy to object and to take issue with this pattern, but the following fact is also an easy one for producers to point to: Ratings go up almost every single year. Prior to The Bachelor spoilers revealing that Weber will be the pick, Johnson told Entertainment Tonight that he totally understands why Peter might end up with the job. “I think Peter looks the part… when he gets a 5 o’clock shadow, he looks good too,” Johnson told this outlet, seemingly making a reference to Weber’s skin color and adding: “I think that Peter’s family is terrific. I’ve hung out with his brother, he’s awesome. “His mom, you know, he’s got a little Spanish flair. I think that Peter and his family are just great.” And in another veiled shot at Weber, Johnson continued: “He’d be a safe Bachelor, meaning that he won’t do anything crazy obnoxious. I think it’d be a good, safe, clean season if he were the Bachelor.” The only upside here, of course, is that Johnson is now free to pursue Demi Lovato . But we still would have preferred to have seen him leading the way this January. Ever diplomatic in chat with ET, Johnson concluded as follows: “I will say this — I do think the show has worked hard to increase diversity in its casting and is continuing to evolve. “And as it evolves, we’ll continue to see more diversity from the franchise.” View Slideshow: Peter Weber as The Bachelor: A Nation Reacts!
Last week, the music world was stunned by the death of Kylie Rae Harris . The 30-year-old country music sensation was killed in a multiple-car accident while driving to a gig near Taos, New Mexico. A 16-year-old girl named Mria Elena Cruz was also killed in the September 4 crash. Now, in a shocking turn of events, police have revealed that Harris appears to have been responsible for the crash, and alcohol may have been a factor. “At this time I will say with most certainty that Miss Cruz was an innocent victim of this senseless crash caused by Ms. Harris,” Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe said during a recent press conference. While authorities have not decisively concluded that Harris was drunk at the time of the accident, they apparently have reason to believe that she was drinking on the night of the crash. The singer was arrested on DUI charges in 2017 and ordered to install an ignition interlock device on her vehicle, multiple outlets indicate. Previously, she had received a speeding citation. Police say speed was also a factor in last week’s accident. Rather eerily, Harris’ last Instagram post included this fond reflection of her life on the road: “I’ve been driving for almost 12 hours and you would think that’s so exhausting and boring but like, the last couple of hours driving through the mountains and remembering my place in the back seat as a little kid when my dad was making these treks here,” Harris said. “Like, it was the f–king best,” In another strange coincidence, Harris filmed a video just hours before her death, in which she spoke about the fact that several of her family members have died near Taos. “My grandparents lived here, my uncle still lives here,” she told the camera. “Literally, everybody that was here has passed away, except for my uncle, and including my dad.” Harris’ passing was confirmed in a statement released by her publicist last Wednesday night: “We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night. “We have no further details to share, and ask for privacy for her family at this time. Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music. “The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you.” Our thoughts go out to the Harris and Cruz families at this difficult time. We’ll have further information on this developing story as more information becomes available. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam
Back in July, baseball fans were stunned by the death of Tyler Skaggs , a 27-year-old pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels. Now, medical examiners in Los Angeles county have released the results of toxicology testing that points to the cause of Skaggs’ death. According to the official coroner’s report, Skaggs passed away due to a combination “alcohol, fentanyl and oxycodone intoxication with terminal aspiration of gastric contents.” It appears that after a night in which he ingested several intoxicating substances, Skaggs choked on his own vomit while unconscious. Now, in a shocking turn of events, the Skaggs family has revealed that they intend to take legal action, as they believe an employee of the Angels is directly responsible for Tyler’s passing: “We are heartbroken to learn that the passing of our beloved Tyler was the result of a combination of dangerous drugs and alcohol,” the statement said. “That is completely out of character for someone who worked so hard to become a Major League baseball player and had a very promising future in the game he loved so much,” it continued. “We are grateful for the work of the detectives in the Southlake Police Department and their ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tyler’s death. We were shocked to learn that it may involve an employee of the Los Angeles Angels,” the grieving family added. “We will not rest until we learn the truth about how Tyler came into possession of these narcotics, including who supplied them. To that end, we have hired attorney Rusty Hardin to assist us.” This is the first time the family has publicly suggested the possibility of taking action against the Angels. In his own statement, attorney Hardin stated that it’s “way too early” to speculate on any potential legal action by Skaggs’ loved ones. “I think the thing to keep in mind is they’re just still so devastated, both the wife and the family, about this young man’s death, and they just want to know what happened and how it happened,” Hardin told the Los Angeles Times. “We’re going to want to know how it came about that those drugs were ingested and whether or not others are responsible for what happened.” The Angels have yet to publicly respond to the allegations and have issued no official statement on Skagg’s passing since their initial press release: “It is with great sorrow that we report Tyler Skaggs passed away earlier today in Texas,” the team said at the time. “Tyler has, and always will be, an important part of the Angels family. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Carli and his entire family during this devastating time.” We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available. Source: Doug Pensinger / Getty Lorenzen Wright’s Wife Found Guilty Of His Murder It’s been almost three years since we last reported on this story but we’re glad that there is now some good news to share. According to TMZ , former NBA player Lorenzen Wright’s wife, Sherra Wright, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for facilitating his murder along with her church friend Billy Turner. For those who don’t remember, Lorenzen was found shot to death in a swamp 10 days after he was reported missing back in 2010. …officials say Sherra called the shots in a diabolical murder plot. Sherra initially planned to kill Lorenzen at his Atlanta home but when that plan failed, she conspired with Turner to murder him in Tennessee instead, prosecutors say. Both Wright and Turner were charged with 1st-degree murder among other charges and she was facing up to 100 years behind bars. But, Sherra cut a deal with prosecutors in which she agreed to plead guilty to facilitation of murder and facilitation to commit attempted 1st-degree murder. Because of the deal, Sherra will be eligible for parole in 9 years. Hopefully, she isn’t granted parole and has to sit her janky a$$ down for the whole 30.
Rutger Hauer, a veteran actor probably best known for his leading role in the 1982 blockbuster Blade Runner, died on July 19 at his home in the Netherlands. He was 75 years old. Hauer’s agent, Steve Kenis, made the news today and added that Hauer’s funeral was held Wednesday. The Dutch actor starred in the aforementioned movie as Harrison Ford’s nemesis, truly putting himself on the Hollywood map with that legendary performance. Hauer’s character delivered a famous speech during a climatic face-off with Ford at the conclusion of Blade Runner, dialogue which he helped write himself, many outlets have since confirmed. “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe,” he tells Ford, adding in this iconic scene: “Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.” He will also be fondly remembered for having major parts in Batman Begins and Sin City — and he also won a Golden Globe Award for his role in the 1987 TV film Escape from Sobibor. Hauer’s exact cause of death is unknown at the moment, but his agent says the actor passed away after having been diagnosed with some kind of illness. “This is not news, but he was a great guy and a great actor,” Kenis told Fox News this afternoon. On the small screen, Hauer portrayed Niall Brigant on HBO’s True Blood, the king of the tribe from which the Stackhouse family is descended and the faerie grandfather to Sookie, Jason Stackhouse and Hunter Savoy. He also recurred on ABC’s medieval musical comedy Galavant as Kingsley in 2015. Aside from his acting career, Hauer was very active in social causes as an outspoken sponsor of the environmental organization Greenpeace and the founder the Starfish Association, a non-profit devoted to AIDS awareness. In the wake of his passing, there’s been an outpouring of sadness on social media. Tweeted Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro, for example: “RIP the great Rutger Hauer: an intense, deep, genuine and magnetic actor that brought truth, power and beauty to his films.” And Robert Patrick added: “I am so sad to hear this, Rutger was such a sweet human being, and amazing actor! R.I.P. Rutger Hauer.” And Clancy Brown: “Giant Dutch hands. Giant Dutch heart. Rutger is one of the best actors I’ve ever known. Rest In Peace.” And Jack Osbourne: “RIP Rutger Hauer. Your work shaped my youth. Thank you. You will not be lost in time, like tears in the rain.” Hauer is survived by his second wife of 50 years, Ineke ten Cate, and a daughter, actress Aysha Hauer, from his marriage to Heidi Merz. We send our condolences to his friends, family members and loved ones. May Rutger Hauer rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam
Emily Hartridge, a beloved YouTube star and personal trainer/presenter in Great Britain, died on Friday after being involved in an electric scooter accident. She was 35 years old. The tragic news was revealed in an Instagram post that reads as follows: Hi everyone. This is a horrible thing to have to say over Instagram but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once. Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and passed away. We all loved her to bits and she will never be forgotten. She has touched so many lives it’s hard to imagine things without her. She was a very special person. Here is a look at the message in full: Elsewhere, without naming the online personality, London’s Metropolitan Police Service released details of a collison between a scooter and a truck on Friday. “Police were called at 08:36hrs on Friday, 12 July to reports of an electric scooter being in collision with a lorry at Queenstown Road, junction with Battersea Park Road SW8. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended,” this report read. “A woman in her 30s had suffered serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.” Hartridge had close to 350,000 YouTube subscribers at the time of her passing. She started posting seven years ago and rose to prominence mostly due to videos in listicle form, typically titling footage such as this “10 Reasons Why …” where topics ranged from sex, relationships, love, gender and life. Her latest video was called “10 Reasons to Get a Younger Boyfriend” and it centered on that fact that her boyfriend is eight years her junior. On average, Hartridge earned around three million views a month and went on to host TV shows such as 4OD’s Oh Sh*t I’m 30 . Hartridge’s last Instagram post, meanwhile, was shared on Friday, as she talked about her reaction to a troll who asked if she was a man because of her lean-muscular physique. “I have never adhered to societal norms and I am certainly not going to start now,” the 35-year old explained in response. YouTube Creators released a statement on Twitter Saturday that read: We’re deeply saddened to learn about the tragic loss of a truly talented British creator, Emily Hartridge. Our thoughts and condolences go out to all of her loved ones and fans. Fans and others YouTubers also took to social media in mourning, with author Greg Jenner Tweeting: “Deeply saddened to see this on Instagram. I met @emilyhartridge on a train 5 years ago, and by the end of the journey we’d shared all sorts of things about our mental health and insomnia. “She was funny, kind, and open-hearted. My deepest sympathies to the Hartridge family.” Added celebrity host Maude Garrett: “I’m really struggling to comprehend the sudden passing of my friend @emilyhartridge. She was a radiant light who always found a reason to laugh.” May Emily Hartridge rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam
