Is it just us or has this Recession got people coming up with the craziest scams? A Mother/son duo got busted like a mug…for stealing over $2 million worth of toys and games from Toys R Us’ around the country! Michael and Margaret Pollara visited 139 Toys R Us in 27 states, including California, Hawaii and New York, buying nearly $7,000 worth of small-ticket items to fuel their scam, according to the affidavit. Authorities were able to track Michael Pollara’s purchases across the country because he used a Toys R Us rewards card for all of his purchases. Authorities said the Pollaras trolled stores looking for inexpensive toys that came in large boxes. They then emptied out the contents and filled the large box with more expensive toys, including $150 Lego sets and Leapster Pads, worth $99 apiece. The pair would hide the cheap contents somewhere around the store and pay for the inexpensive large box filled with more expensive goodies. Seventy-year-old Margaret Pollara often worked as a lookout, according to the arrest report. Authorities tracked the two for months, watching them allegedly steal from various stores around the state and later ship packages filled with toys. Michael Pollara, 46, had more than $900,000 in eBay and PayPal accounts, according to the report. An employee from a Southern Florida store reported a number of Lego sets had gone missing in one single day and tipped the police. Using his rewards card account number, police were able to find the two thieves. Slim Thug Book “How To Survive In A Recession” Includes A Chapter Supporting Abortion We’re not saying rappers aren’t allowed to take a crack at social commentary, but let’s face it — this isn’t Slim Thug’s strong suit. Slim stopped by 97.9 in his hometown of Houston to discuss his latest project — a book called “How To Survive In A Recession.” The book — which consults a grand total of 0 financial experts, draws on Slim’s personal experience as a person who is “cheap.” And along with all his thoughts on how to save up, he also has a full chapter devoted to the topic of “Abortion.” When H-town radio host JJ asked him what that chapter had to do with everything else in the book he said “I think abortions is necessary on some occasions.” Here’s the quote that has been floating around from the book: People are against abortion, but I think it ain’t good to have a baby and not be with the father. My mother, she took care of me but she worked 7 days a week, 12 hours a day and I seen how much of a struggle it was. It was so hard coming up, I don’t even know who my daddy is….So, I don’t like that. A kid deserves both parents in the home, so if you ain’t gon be with somebody i don’t think you need to have a kid with them….even though I got 3 baby mommas.. (laughs)….it ain’t easy and it ain’t right …but we good. The book also includes quotes from Slim Thug saying: “I ain’t saying wait 3 or 4 months. If it’s immediate, it’s like birth control to me.” While we agree that it’s preferable to raise a child with both of his and her parents, do you think Slim’s comments could be taken to mean that women who don’t have a partner should not be parents and should look to abortion as a means to handle any and all unwanted pregnancies? Kris Humphries Claims Kris Jenner Staged Kim Kardashian Tape There are just too many things wrong with this one right here… Via TMZ: Kris Humphries trashed Kim Kardashian and her family in conversations and text messages to his former girlfriend, Myla Sinanaj … telling her Kris Jenner not only directed Kim to shoot her sex tape, but to re-shoot because Kris J didn’t think the first one was pretty enough. As TMZ first reported, Kim has subpoenaed Myla in Kim’s divorce case, and we’ve learned Myla has a lot to say about what Kris told her about his relationship with his famous estranged wife. In addition to the sex tape, sources tell us Myla has numerous text messages in which Kris says she is the love of his life and he wants to get the divorce over with quickly so they can spend the rest of their time on earth together. In several of the messages, we’re told Kris says specifically that he’s “moved on” from Kim. The information is extremely damaging to Kris, because he’s alleging in his divorce that Kim has destroyed him emotionally by allegedly defrauding him into believing it was a real marriage. Turns out, Kris has been banging Myla since mid-January, so his devastation argument may be hard to swallow. Sources close to the Kardashians tell TMZ … Kris is lying about the sex tape. They say Kim made it clear at the beginning of their relationship she would not discuss the tape because she didn’t want to be judged by it. Our sources say the sex tape never came up in any subsequent discussions between Kim and Kris and it just shows he’s delusional. Regardless if this is true or not, this Kris Humphries character is acting like such a little beyotch. If it is true, Kris Jenner is one “by any means necessary” muhfugga! Black People Are Still Jobless In New York As City Recovers From Recession How many of you are unemployed in NYC? For months now, New York officials have been highlighting how the city has regained all the jobs lost during the long recession and then some. But by several measures, the city’s recovery has left black New Yorkers behind. More than half of all of African-Americans and other non-Hispanic blacks in the city who were old enough to work had no job at all this year, according to an analysis of employment data compiled by the federal Labor Department. And when black New Yorkers lose their jobs, they spend a full year, on average, trying to find new jobs — far longer than New Yorkers of other races. Nationally, the employment outlook for blacks has begun to brighten: there were about one million more black Americans with jobs in May than there were a year earlier, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. But that is not the case in New York City, where the decline in employment since the recession began here, in 2008, has been much steeper for blacks than for white or Hispanic residents, said James Parrott, chief economist for the Fiscal Policy Institute, a liberal research group. One problem, said David R. Jones, the president and chief executive of the Community Service Society of New York, is that blacks were overrepresented in fields that suffered the most in the downturn, including government agencies, construction and manufacturing. “It’s being in the wrong place in the economy, so the recovery is not trickling down to these workers,” Mr. Jones said. Kevin Starkes, 53, who is black and lives in the South Bronx, said he had been trying for about 10 weeks to find work as an accountant. “Employers are getting more for less,” said Mr. Starkes, who was at a Workforce1 Career Center in Harlem on Wednesday. “People who used to get a job with a bachelor’s degree now need a master’s. I just think that’s the state of the economy right now.” Four years ago, there were about the same number of discouraged blacks and whites in the city. But since then, the number of discouraged black workers has grown to almost 40,000, from about 13,000, while the number of discouraged whites increased to about 22,000, from about 12,000. Discuss..
