Soon after Ryan Lochte was named a Dancing with the Stars participant, we made it very clear that we didn’t think Ryan Lochte should have been named a Dancing with the Stars participant. But that doesn’t mean we condone any sort of violence against the controversial swimmer. Not at all. Stunningly, however, the 12-time Olympic medalist was at the center of a scary protest on Monday night. Soon after Lochte and Cheryl Burke completed their opening number of Season 21, two men in white t-shirts – with a red circle and line over Lochte’s last name – ran on to the stage from the audience. ABC viewers simply saw Carrie Ann Inaba critiquing Lochte’s Foxtrot before acting very confused and telling the men to “back off.” You can then hear host Tom Bergeron cut to an early commercial. Ryan Lochte has changed his story once again. For the better this time, however. Back on August 14, Lochte told the public that he and three U.S. Olympic teammates were robbed at gunpoint in Rio. But authorities investigated the alleged incident and could no evidence of such an armed robbery, leading to the eventual admission by Lochte's teammates that they actually caused quite a drunken raucous at a gas station. They vandalized the property, security guards confronted them about it and at least one of these guards did draw a weapon, ordering the group to pay for the damage. After it became clear that Lochte had fudged the truth lied, he issued a half-hearted apology that did not go over very well at all. So Saturday evening, in a sit-down with Matt Lauer, Lochte tried again. I'm taking full responsibility for it because I overexaggerated that story and if I never did that, we wouldn't be in this mess,” he shared. “Those guys would never be in Rio. None of this would have happened. It was my immature behavior.” The 12-time medal winner said he “definitely had too much to drink that night,” saying he’s unable to say whether he was robbed or extorted. “All I know is there was a gun pointed at us, and we were demanded to give money,” he said. Lochte left Brazil the day after the incident, but his teammates remained. They actually got pulled off a plane and had their passports confiscated until they spoke to authorities and told them the truth. “I let my team down,” Lochte said through tears to Lauer. “I don’t want them to think that I left them dry. I took away from their accomplishments by being immature for one night. That’s what hurts the most.” Six more minutes of Lauer's interview with Locthe will air on Monday. For now, though, Locthe seems to understand the mess he caused. “I’m embarrassed for myself… I know what I did was wrong,” he said. “All I can do now is better myself in making sure this stuff never happens again. “I don’t want them to look at me like a drunk frat boy. Ever since Ryan Lochte was caught lying about being held at gunpoint in Rio on August 14th, people are wondering what his teammate, Michael Phelps thinks about the whole ordeal. E! News was able to get a comment from Phelps as he was leaving a Scottsdale, Arizona Starbucks. “We have good people taking care of it, so hopefully,” Phelps said when asked Lochte would come out of the scandal “unscathed.” According to sources at the coffee chain, Phelps “seemed relaxed” and graciously stopped to thank fans who congratulated him on racking up so many gold medals in Rio. Phelps, 31, landed back in America after the games on August 17th, and has been spending his first days of retirement with fiancee Nicole Johnson and three-month-old son, Boomer. Ryan Lochte: Rio Surveillance Video Today, Lochte issued a mea culpa of sorts (kind of) after it was discovered that he and three teammates lied about being held at gunpoint in Rio. “I want to apologize for my behavior last weekend — for not being more careful and candid in how I described the events of that early morning and for my role in taking the focus away from the many athletes fulfilling their dreams of participating in the Olympics,” the statement read. “I waited to share these thoughts until it was confirmed that the legal situation was addressed and it was clear that my teammates would be arriving home safely.” Jack Conger and Gunnar Bent, two of Lochte’s teammates were with him that night, were pulled off a US-bound plane in Rio so that they could be interrogated by officials. Jimmy Feigen, the third teammate, only got his passport back when he agreed to pay nearly. $11,000 to avoid prosecution. “It’s traumatic to be out late with your friends in a foreign country – with a language barrier – and have a stranger point a gun at you and demand money to let you leave,” Lochte continued. “But regardless of the behavior of anyone else that night, I should have been much more responsible in how I handled myself and for that I am sorry to my teammates, my fans, my fellow competitors, my sponsors, and the hosts of this great event. But we don't need to see thousands of world class athletes parading around with their flags to get us in the mood for these epic Games. A handful of U.S swimmers have gone ahead and done the inspiring deed for us already… carpool karaoke style! Lochte recently spoke to Cosmo.com ahead of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio about getting himself some strange (JK, I’m sure he’s a total gentleman when it comes to dates). Lochte admitted that he has tried Bumble and Raya (the latter of which is a dating app for celebs and other VIPs), but neither tickled his fancy. “With Bumble, the girl always has to make the first [move], and I don’t really like that. I don’t think that’s a woman job. So I got off that,” he explained. “And then Raya, I don’t know. I’m living in Charlotte so that didn’t really work because most of the women you link up with are either in L.A. or New York. So I just recently got on Tinder.” Swipe right for love. “I heard it took off in Sochi [at the 2014 Winter Olympics] and then people were talking about it and I was like, ‘Let me try this.’ “So I got on it and I’ve been matching up with a bunch of gorgeous women who are smart, they have professional jobs and everything. I’m like, “Wow, this is perfect.’ “So I’ve been on Tinder lately. So far I haven’t had any dates or anything. I’ve just been talking with a couple [women].” What does a fella like Lochte look for in a woman? “You can’t say, like, looks aren’t everything because, I mean, that’s the first thing that people see,” he admitted. “So you definitely see their picture and then you look at their bio and they tell you their job description. “I want someone that has goals and all that.
