Jane Fonda is a remarkable woman. From her support to the civil rights movement in the 1960s to her involvement with several feminists causes to, let’s be real, her iconic workout videos, she’s been an inspiration to many. And in this new interview with the also amazing Brie Larson , Jane is really just taking our appreciation of her to an entire new level. Jane, who turns 80 this year, kicked things off by giving some real talk about feminism — particularly about the struggles of growing up as a woman so many years ago. “I grew up in the ’50s,” she explains, “and it took me a long time to apply feminism to my life. The men in my life were wonderful, but victims of a [patriarchal] belief system. I felt diminished.” She says that the first time she truly felt she was a feminist was when she saw Eve Ensler do a performance of The Vagina Monologues — which would have been in the mid 90s at the earliest. “It took a long time” for her to call herself a feminist though, “because I was brought up with the disease to please.” She went on to say, and this is where things really take an intense turn, that “To show you the extent to which a patriarchy takes a toll on females; I’ve been raped, I’ve been sexually abused as a child and I’ve been fired because I wouldn’t sleep with my boss and I always thought it was my fault.” “That I didn’t do or say the right thing.” “I know young girls,” she says, “who’ve been raped and didn’t even know it was rape. They think, ‘It must have been because I said ‘no’ the wrong way.'” “One of the great things the women’s movement has done is to make us realize that [rape and abuse] is not our fault. We were violated and it’s not right.” This is the first time Jane’s ever publicly said that she’s been raped — after so many years of speaking up for women’s rights , it must have taken a lot for her to share this. It’s not the only thing she shared though. She also discussed her controversial opposition to the Vietnam War. “I didn’t become an activist until I was 31,” she says. “When I found out what was really happening in Vietnam I didn’t care if I ever worked again; I considered leaving the business to become a full-time activist.” She recalls that “My father was terrified for me. He remembered the ’50s when people’s careers were destroyed.” Jane even adds that, with Trump as president, “It’s possible the [Hollywood] blacklist will be brought back.” And on the topic of Trump, she says that there are many battles to be fought, including but certainly not limited to the fight against defunding Planned Parenthood . About being an activist for so many years, she says “Honey, I am almost 80 years old. If you want to make it to the long-haul, you have to take care of yourself.” “I get more than eight hours sleep every night; I meditate twice a day for half an hour; I eat right; I workout.” “I always tell activists: ‘This is going to be a long struggle. We have to stay strong.” Yes, Jane Fonda. Just … yes. View Slideshow: 19 Celebrities Who Were Victims of Domestic Abuse

In the wake of news that Donald Trump had been elected President of the United States , thousands of Americans in cities as far-flung as Atlanta and Seattle assembled to engage in peaceful protest of a man whose campaign alienated Americans from all walks of life, including the leaders of the party that nominated him. Yesterday, Trump met with Barack Obama at the White House and afterward, he spoke highly of the President and his family, and refrained from making inflammatory comments about the protests. It seemed, momentarily, that we were seeing the beginnings of the “presidential” Trump that he had so often promised voters during his scorched-earth campaign. Then he went home and logged into Twitter: “Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!” Trump tweeted. “Love the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country,” he later added. More subdued than much of what he’s posted on social media in recent months, to be sure, but the attacks on the media and the outright lies that Trump was so often criticized for during his campaign are still present in these tweets. It’s nice to see Trump showing his conciliatory side by paying lip-service to his “love” of the public outcry against him, but in the next breath he attempts to dismiss the movement by erroneously characterizing the demonstrators as small groups of “professional” protesters. Massive turnouts have already been reported in New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta with many more cities expected to follow suit in the coming days. Whether it’s justified or not, the anti-Trump outrage is real, and the President-elect will need to address it in a real way if he hopes to bring the nation together, as he claims is his intention. Writing for The New Yorker back in May, Adam Gopnik described the “the three-part process by which the gross becomes the taken for granted” in his coverage of the ascent of Donald Trump . The piece reminded Americans of how Trump was initially laughed off as a candidate, then accepted with a resigned plea for a return to normalcy once all this was over, then embraced by just enough Americans to elect him president as a repudiation of the same system that made Donald Trump a household name. Unfortunately, one of the early casualties of Trump’s election is America’s hard-earned reputation on the national stage, which is even now in a state of rapid decline more than two months before Trump’s inauguration. From Syria to Switzerland, out foreign enemies and allies are watching the dawn of Donald Trump’s America with great interest. Some see an opportunity; others see a human rights crisis in the making. In both cases, most didn’t witness firsthand the glacial pace of Trump’s 17-month conquest, as Americans did. At home and abroad, many are unaware that Trump lost the popular vote and won the White House as a result of the electoral college, an institution that Trump himself has described as a “disaster for democracy.” If the protests accomplish nothing other than sending a message to the world that Trump’s election was intensely contested and that tens of millions of Americans share their concerns for the future of western democracy and the fates of our most vulnerable citizens, than it will all have been worthwhile. Perhaps some who are chanting and waving signs in town squares across America today are hoping to overturn the results of the 2016 election. Those hopes are ill-founded, and a Trump presidency is all but a certainty at this point. But to deny these people their right to gather in solidarity in order to publicly and loudly express their concerns and their outrage is to deny a voice to the powerless and attempt to suppress the spirit of the revolution that endowed Americans with the rights we hold do dear.

Big news in the hair world today, guys. Kendall Jenner has cut it all off!!! Okay, not all of it. But she did cut it. On Friday, the model shared this pic of her newly sheared locks to Snapchat: As you can see, she included the scream emoji due to the shocking nature of this new development. Prior to this courageous move, Kendall had worn her hair at about mid-back level, as appears to be required of most supermodels. But she’s now cut several inches and her tresses fall just past her shoulders, qualifying the new ‘do as “lob” (as in, “long bob,” get it?). You can take a moment if you need it. You breathing? OK. While Kendall treated fans to a glimpse of the lower half of her hair and face, they felt somewhat cheated. We want to see the hair from root to end – accompanied by a pair of eyes and a nose to boot! They shouted. Well, we’re fairly sure they shouted. And now we have it. Behold: Yes, that’s Kendall, hardly recognizable. Yes, she forgot to button her top, and no, we have no idea what the deal is with the glasses. As previously reported, Megan Fox is pregnant with baby number-three. This is both exciting news and surprising news. The former because… hey, awesome! A baby! The latter because… hey, wait a second: didn’t Fox file for divorce from Green last August, citing “irreconcilable difference” in her legal documents? The answer is yes, of course, but Green and Fox dated for six years before they were married for five years. They have two young sons together and is very close to Green’s son from a previous relationship. In other words: There’s a lot of history here and few break-ups are ever completely clean. The stars have been spotted out in public on multiple occasions together over the past several weeks, while they’ve also clearly spent some (naked!) time in private as well. According to an E! News insider, the pregnancy was not planned and the divorce “will likely be put on hold for a while.” Despite the major surprise, though “when they found out, they were extremely happy,” this same source says. There are obviously some relationship concerns to sort out here, but that won’t get in the way of Fox and Green being strong parents . “They are working really hard to be together and one unit – not only for their children, but also for each other,” the source concludes: “They are looking forward for the arrival of their new baby.” View Slideshow: 26 Most Shocking Hollywood Divorces
