Image via Getty 5 Dead After Captial Gazette Shooting How can anyone possibly watch what is happening in this country and STILL not be on board of gun control? Five people are dead and several more are described as “gravely injured” after the Capital Gazette newspaper office building was attacked by a lone gunman armed with a shotgun according to the Baltimore Sun . The shooter hasn’t been named, but is a white male, and he is alive, no shock there. A reporter inside the building, Phil Davis, was hiding under his desk during the shooting and tweeted a moment-by-moment account: A single shooter shot multiple people at my office, some of whom are dead. — Phil Davis (@PhilDavis_CG) June 28, 2018 Gunman shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees. Can't say much more and don't want to declare anyone dead, but it's bad. — Phil Davis (@PhilDavis_CG) June 28, 2018 There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you're under your desk and then hear the gunman reload — Phil Davis (@PhilDavis_CG) June 28, 2018 Jesus… Ironically, Phil Davis is a police reporter who writes about shootings and death on a regular basis. As we said, the shooter was taken alive and Davis’ account seems to suggest that once the police arrived the man just stopped shooting. We’ll have more details as they become available. R.I.P. to those who lost their lives.
Earlier this week, fans were shocked to learn that Demi Lovato had relapsed after six years of sobriety. To her credit, over the years, Lovato has not attempted to conceal her struggles with addiction, instead allowing her story to serve as a cautionary tale for young fans. And she’s been just as open about her most recent battle with the bottle. Demi’s new song, “Sober,” is a surprisingly confessional ballad detailing her lapse back into addiction. Sadly, Lovato’s relapse was not a one-time event but has instead proven to be a source of ongoing difficulty. Sources say Demi is still drinking , and has been for more than two months. But it seems she feels that it’s important for her fans to see her at her lowest depths, as Radar Online is reporting today that Lovato is planning to grant a candid TV interview to Hoda Kotb of Today. Demi was reportedly reluctant about stepping back into the spotlight in her current state. She had a change of heart, one insider claims, because of three important factors: 1. Her loyalty to her fan base and her desire to be completely straightforward with the millions who have stood by her through thick and thin. 2. Her belief that honesty is the first step to sobriety. 3. Her faith in longtime friend Kotb. “They have a history together,” the source says of Demi’s relationship with Hoda. “Demi is ready to share what led to the relapse and what she is doing now to stay sober,” the insider adds. “She has always been very open and honest with her fans about her struggles, so it’s only natural that she would do this.” There’s no word yet on when the interview will take place or when it will air, but the insider says Demi is hoping to sit down with Hoda as soon as possible. In “Sober,” Demi croons the heartbreaking line: “I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.” She lays her soul bare in the song, but the lyrics offer no details about the how, why, and when of Demi’s relapse. Now, it seems she finally fill in those blanks for the sake of her very worried fans. View Slideshow: 22 Times Demi Lovato Has Kept It Real

Another mass shooting has taken place in America. On Thursday afternoon, a gunman broke into the offices of The Capital Gazette in Maryland, opening fire and killing at least five individuals and wounding many others. According to law enforcement officials, an unnamed suspect is in custody, but very little is known about him at the moment. (UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as 38-year old Jarrod Ramos. He once filed a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper that was thrown out.) We can confirm, however, that the suspect was found hiding under a desk inside the building and that a package (or carrying device of some kind), which contained a flammable liquid, was discovered near him on the ground. Police have also said the suspect was an adult male and that he used a “long gun” to carry out his massacre. More than 170 people were in the building during the shooting; those who did not suffer any injuries were evacuated and taken to a reunification area. Among those unharmed was reporter Phil Davis, who has made headlines for Tweeting a few details from the awful incident. “There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you’re under your desk and then hear the gunman reload,” Davis Tweeted at one point on Thursday, adding: “Gunman shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees. Can’t say much more and don’t want to declare anyone dead, but it’s bad. “A single shooter shot multiple people at my office, some of whom are dead.” In a later interview posted on the newspaper’s website, Davis said the scene inside the newspaper’s office “was like a war zone,” expounding: “I’m a police reporter. “I write about this stuff – not necessarily to this extent, but shootings and death – all the time. But as much as I’m going to try to articulate how traumatizing it is to be hiding under your desk, you don’t know until you’re there and you feel helpless.” Elsewhere, Jimmy DeButts, an editor at the Capital Gazette, Tweeted that he was “devastated & heartbroken,” explaining why it is he and his co-workers do the jobs they do: We keep doing more with less. We find ways to cover high school sports, breaking news, tax hikes, school budgets & local entertainment.. We are there in times of tragedy. “We do our best to share the stories of people, those who make our community better. Please understand, we do all this to serve our community.” Along these lines, the newspaper has said it has no plans of going on hiatus or taking any sort of break. “I can tell you this: We are putting out a damn paper tomorrow,” reporter Chase Cook Tweeted. President Donald Trump, has has often referred to the press as the “enemy of the people,” something he reiterated two days ago at a rally in South Carolina, chimed in as follows on social media: “Prior to departing Wisconsin, I was briefed on the shooting at Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland. “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Thank you to all of the First Responders who are currently on the scene.” Added the First Lady on Twitter: “Today’s violence at the Capital Gazette was tragic & evil. “My heart goes out to all affected in this brutal & senseless attack, & I send thoughts & prayers for comfort to the friends, family & colleagues of those killed & injured.” Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Lt. Ryan Frashure said that officers were on the scene “very, very quickly, I think it was around 60 seconds or a minute-and-a-half” after receiving the call about the active shooter. As of this writing, the suspect is said to not be cooperating with police. Here is a look at the building where the shooting took place: Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has also released a statement about this shooting at the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, saying at a press conference: “We are terribly saddened by the loss of five members of our community in today’s heinous shooting. “The Capital Gazette is my hometown paper, and I have the greatest respect for the fine journalists, and all the men and women, who work there. “They serve each day to shine light on the world around us so that we might see with more clarity and greater understanding. “There is no place in our society for this kind of hatred and violence, and the individual responsible for this horrendous crime must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” UPDATE : Anne Arundel Police Deputy Chief Bill Krampf has now confirmed this was a “targeted attack” against the newspaper.

S acramento activists want to see justice for the recent police-involved death of a Black father, Brandon Smith . They also want the day to finally come when the police officers involved in Stephon Clark ‘s fatal shooting are fired, charged, tried and convicted for his death. Related: Stephon Clark Didn’t Receive CPR For Nearly 6 Minutes After Being Fired At 20 Times Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists gathered outside of Sacramento City Hall Thursday on the third day of their “8 Days, 8 Shots” civil disobedience demonstrations for Smith and Clark. The protests, beginning on Tuesday, will last until next Wednesday — one day for each of the eight times that Clark, 22, was shot on March 18 — Ryan McClinton , a community organizer for advocacy group Sacramento Area Congregations Together, told the Sacramento Bee . Police accountability for the death of Smith, 30, who died from unknown causes while in police custody two weeks ago, was also a top priority for BLM. He was transported by an unidentified Sacramento police officer, having called for medical help during the ride, body camera footage released on June 13 revealed. “I’m f—– up. I feel like I’m having a heart attack,”Smith is heard in the video saying. “Oh my god,” he continued, as a Sacramento officer took him to a police truck. He was placed in the vehicle before he fell on the metal floor. Once the car arrived at the jail, Smith was discovered unresponsive, the Bee reported. It’s important to note that the report said that despite Smith’s pleas for help, no attention, including CPR, was given to him until after he was found out cold. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, with his death being similar to that of Freddie Gray , 25, who died in Baltimore police custody in April 2015. The cops’ names have not been officially disclosed. However, civil rights attorney John Burris identified them as Terrence Mercadal and Jared Robinet after the department released footage of the shooting on March 21. Mercadal and Robinet were put on paid administrative, but then returned to work in a non-patrol capacity on April 9, according to the Bee. Sacramento County district attorney Anne Marie Schubert won a June 5 primary despite no charges having been brought against the officers for Clark’s death. Schubert blamed the police for the slow investigation, saying the department had not brought their case to her, ABC10 reported. Activists want Schubert and the department to know that no justice equals no peace. According to WPDE , 18-year-old Dezmond Bethea was shot 8 times and suffered 17 wounds that resulted in 8 hours of surgery. He is expected to survive, but his family, namely his grandmother wants answers and more. “He’s fighting for his life. He’s fighting for his life. And as far as the investigation, we can’t say anything, like. The SBI. It could take a week. It could take a month. It could take whatever. You know, we’re still waiting to hear from there. I understand it’s going to take some time for this to take place,” said Bethea. Around 2am Saturday night a 911 call came in about shots fired in Laurinburg. Police are not providing any information about whether or not Dezmond was armed as the investigation is ongoing. We’ll have our eyes on this case and will provide any new info that becomes available. Prayers up for that young man and his family.
Image via Getty Ex-Atlanta Area Cop On Trial For Murder Of Unarmed Naked Black Man Keep an eye on this because things could get rowdy in Atlanta if the “justice” system doesn’t do it’s job. Back in 2015 Dekalb County cop Richard Olsen shot and killed a naked and unarmed Anthony Hill inside his apartment complex. As a result a grand jury indicted Olsen, charging him with two counts of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of making a false statement and two counts of violation of oath by a public officer according to CNN . Oh, by the way, Hill was a veteran of the war in Afghanistan. Former Dekalb police officer, accused of murder in shooting of naked, unarmed man takes stand in Immunity Hearing. Claims self defense, seeking to have charges thrown out. pic.twitter.com/ojQ8LHrKpE — Tom Regan (@tomreganWSB) May 21, 2018 Today, reporters at WSB-TV are at Olsen’s immunity hearing where a judge will decide whether the former officer’s self-defense plea has and validity. Hard to imagine how fatal force was necessary considering again that Hill was both unarmed and unclothed, but as scruffy and swirly genius Donald Glover recently noted, this is America. Let ol’ Olsen tell it, Hill “aggressively charged the officer and refused commands to stop”. We’ve seen white boys wearing clothes that could conceal weapons lay hands on cops and get taken away in cuffs, brotha allegedly runs toward a pi-…officer and gets shot twice. Go figure. We’ll have more details as their available.
CCBI/Splash Man Kills Wife Who Was His Biological Daughter, Their Son And Her Adoptive Father Before Shooting Himself Real life is way stranger than fiction, particularly in the case of Steven Walter Pladl , who made headlines just a month ago following his arrest, along with biological daughter Katie Rose Pladl, on incest charges. The Pladls are both dead now, along with Katie’s adoptive father, 56-year-old Anthony Fusco, and the former couple’s seven-month-old son Bennett Pladl, according to NY Post reports . Steven Pladl is suspected of killing all three before turning the gun on himself ccording to news station WTVR reports. Authorities were alerted about Steven Pladl’s murder spree after his mother called 911 asking police to check Pladl’s Knightdale, NC, home. “Oh God, he told me to call the police and I shouldn’t go over there,” Steven’s mother told the dispatcher. “He killed his baby and he’s (baby) in the house,” the caller said. “His wife broke up with him over the phone yesterday…” the caller continued. “I can’t even believe this is happening.” Police performed a welfare check and discovered the body of Bennett Pladl around 9 a.m. according to Knightdale Chief of Police Lawrence Capps. Authorities believe Steven traveled to New Milford, Conn. after killing his son and allegedly shot his 20-year-old daughter Katie and her adoptive father, to death. They were found dead Thursday morning around 8:40 a.m. inside a truck with the window shot out at an intersection on Route 7, news station WTIC reported. . Police were searching for suspect Steven Pladl’s vehicle, a Honda minivan, when they found it, with him dead inside, several miles away in Dover, New York. The Pladls were set to appear in court April 23. Steven and his ex-wife Alyssa gave Katie up for adoption in 1998, when Alyssa was just 17. They reunited with Katie in 2016 after she found them on social media and Authorities said the father and daughter, who allegedly planned to wed, were living as a couple in North Carolina. They were arrested after officials were notified about a possible love child. Steven and his ex-wife gave Katie up for adoption in 1998. The biological parents reportedly reunited with their long-lost daughter in 2016 after she tracked them down on social media, living in the West End of Henrico County, Virginia. Alyssa says Katie moved in with them and called them mom and dad. She also says she had no idea about the sexual relationship between Steven and Katie until she read one of her other daughter’s journals where she found drawings of a pregnant Katie. She also said her daughter had written that Steven was making her call Katie her step-mom. “There are no words to describe the sense of betrayal and disgust I’m feeling,” she told DailyMailTV in February. “I waited 18 long years to have a relationship with my daughter – and now he’s completely destroyed it.” Alyssa took out protective orders against Steven, so he could not go near her or their two younger daughters. She said she believed Steven brainwashed and manipulated Katie. The couple reportedly wed in July 2017 and Katie gave birth to Bennett in September 2017, but after both were arrested in January part of the bond conditions were that they no longer have contact. Katie moved back in with her family in New York and Steven Pladl’s mother stepped in to help with Bennett. A lawyer for Steven Pladl said he met with him just a month ago and had no indication he might become homicidal. SMH. Terrible tragedy on so many levels. Prayers up to the many people grieving after this horrible chain of events.
