Former Girls Next Door star Bridget Marquardt is engaged to her longtime director boyfriend, Nick Carpenter, she confirmed on Instagram. “Happy Oct. 1st!!!” Marquardt, 42, captioned a photo of her hand holding his. “Oh … and … Did I mention @nicholascarpenter and I are engaged?” While it’s unclear whether the spider-shaped diamond ring on Marquardt’s hand is really her engagement bling, she is the “Queen of Halloween.” Wouldn’t be entirely out of character, in other words. Marquardt and Carpenter first met at the famed Playboy Mansion, where she once lived with Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson. The couple began dating in 2008, after the good old days of Hugh Hefner orgies and being miserable in bed had come and gone. “I’ve heard that people want to marry their best friends. I think that should be partially true,” Marquardt shared of her man. “You want someone you can sit with in sweats, plus go out with. You want them to have a lot of best friend qualities.” “But you also want to make sure that you have the spice and passion that you would not have with your best friend.” “You want the relationship to be one step beyond that.” We’re assuming that it is, and we’re happy for her. She may have f–ked the same guy as Holly and Kendra , but that was so 2006. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Got Engaged in 2015
Transgender Woman Shot Dead By Texas College Footballer Player After Finding Out She Was A Man Back in January we posted this story , and at that time detectives were still looking for clues to solve Tyrone Underwood’s murder. Via TylerPaper A Longview man has been arrested for the murder of Tyrone Underwood. Carlton Ray Champion Jr. was arrested Jan. 29 for a probation violation, but was the prime suspect at the onset of the investigation, according to the official affidavit. On Jan. 26, officers found Underwood, 24, of Tyler, dead in his vehicle from multiple gunshot wounds in the 400 block of West 24th Street. Early interviews with people who knew Underwood revealed the two men had been seeing each other for several weeks. During an early police interview, Champion told police he had not spoken with or seen Underwood since 11 p.m. on Jan. 25. The police located cell phone messages between Champion and Underwood the night of the murder that indicated the men wanted to meet after midnight. There was an argument between the two men that ended with Underwood telling Champion he did not want to continue the relationship. Around 2 a.m., the two decided the location of the meeting. Champion became defensive and uncooperative when police asked him about the inconsistencies in his earlier interview. Champion, who police say was attending Texas College, remains in Gregg County jail and faces first-degree murder charges in Smith County. Judge Christi Kennedy signed the arrest warrant and placed a $1 million bond on him. Crazy as it sounds, it’s even crazier how the police cracked the case. According to an affidavit filed in support of the murder arrest warrant, Carlton Ray Champion Jr. became a suspect after Ty Underwood’s roommate, Kedrick Darks, told police Underwood had been dating a man named “Carlton” for several weeks prior to her death. Our news partners at KYTX CBS 19 are reporting that although Darks had no details on the man, a police department employee who knew Underwood said the man played football Texas College. It was at that point that investigators connected the dots and confirmed that Champion, in fact, played football for the school. The detectives said they interviewed Champion, who confirmed that he had been communicating via a service called “Kik” with Underwood, who was going by “Tyra” on the service. They were able to search Champion’s tablet computer and allegedly discovered communications between Champion and Underwood dating back to January 19, 2015. “After reading the text between Champion, Jr. and Underwood, it was clear that the two have had sexual relations with each other,” one detective wrote. The investigation revealed a series of messages between Champion and Underwood on January 25 in which Underwood was angry with Champion for initially agreeing meet in person that night and then backing out. Underwood sent a message saying she no longer wanted to see Champion, to which he allegedly responded: “That’s how it is now, I will make it up.” After that, there was allegedly some additional conversation about where and how they would meet, and whether it would be at Texas College or along a random street. The conversation makes it appear they were to meet on 25th street. Carlton thought he was bout to get some sloppy toppy… One of the detectives interviewed Champion’s father and wrote “[Champion’s father] stated that Carlton Jr. was meeting [Underwood] and thought [Underwood] was female. According to [Champion’s father], Carlton Jr. was supposed to get some type of sexual favor from [Underwood] but realized [Underwood] was a male.” BRUH. Image via Twitter/Police
Marvel Fans Want Miles Morales Played By Donald Glover To Be Next Spiderman Should Donald Glover be the next Spiderman?? Via The Verge reports: Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures brokered one of the biggest deals in cinema history last night. Going forward, Spider-Man will join Captain America and Iron Man as a proud member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). That this move is a game-changer cannot be understated. After slogging through a botched Sony reboot, audiences can finally expect Spidey, one of the most esteemed — and valuable — superheroes ever created, to take his rightful place beside the Avengers. As Marvel’s statement reads, “Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios share a love for the characters in the Spider-Man universe and have a long, successful history of working together. This new level of collaboration is the perfect way to take Peter Parker’s story into the future.” There’s just one problem: With Andrew Garfield allegedly out, we don’t need Peter Parker at the movies anymore. We need Miles Morales. Who’s Miles Morales? (Minor spoiler alert.) He’s the Spider-Man of Marvel’s Ultimate comics imprint, a half-black, half-Latino 13-year-old who took on the role of Spider-Man after Peter Parker’s death at the hands of the Green Goblin in 2011. He’s also the Spider-Man who deserves a place in the MCU. Now, no one can question that Spider-Man and Peter Parker are inexorably linked and have been for more than half a century. That said, Miles Morales as a character is something fresher, and he’s someone who’s more than just Peter Parker’s successor. It took Parker dying for Miles to take up the mantle, and he has come into his own as a superhero in the years since, complete with a supporting cast and rogues’ gallery that’s grown up and out of Peter’s. He’s lost loved ones and triumphed over adversity just like the original Spidey did, but he’s not at all a carbon copy of what came before. He’s something new, all while being an extension of everything that made Parker great to begin with. But most important is the fact that Miles Morales represents the future of comics, not just of Spider-Man, and that future needs to live on movie screens. It was no accident that the #donald4spiderman campaign gained such momentum back in 2010, right before the first reboot. If you imagined Donald Glover as Spider-Man then, try it again now. If 2012 wasn’t the right moment, now is. Peter Parker doesn’t have to look like a white guy from Forest Hills, Queens. He can be a Black Hispanic kid from Brooklyn, right alongside a kooky Japanese motorcycle racer with a giant robot. The point is, he can be anyone, and we’ll still know that with great power must also come great responsibility. Marvel must know it has a heavy duty when it comes to the people it chooses to play its superheroes. At a time when comics companies are collectively getting better at acknowledging their entire fanbases on the page, they shouldn’t be slow-footed in theaters. And steps have already been made; Fox execs already cast Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Just because they could. Studios should be willing to take these risks, and now’s the time. Whoever Marvel and Sony choose to play Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will get to play one of the finest superheroes out there, likely for years to come, and that’s a tremendous honor. Still, aren’t we ready for something different? Many fans have already thrown hearthrob and A-List actor Donald Glover into the ring to play the next Spidey… Do you think the Marvel Universe is ready for a Black and Hispanic Spiderman?? Hit the flip for more…

Did you know the new Spider-Man is black??? Say goodbye to Peter Parker and hello to Miles Morales… the half-Black half-Latino young man who replaces Parker following his death. Miles Morales has replaced Peter Parker as the face behind the famous webbed mask, Marvel Comics has revealed. In the latest edition of the Ultimate Fallout series he pulls back the disguise and shows his face for the first time. Fans will have to wait until the official Spider Man relaunch next month to find out how he came to be the superhero. But another surprise could be in the pipeline after his creators said that in the future they would not rule out making him gay. Peter Parker first appeared as the superhero in 1962 – having been bitten by a radioactive spider he found he developed the strength and agility of an arachnid. He was killed off by the Green Goblin in June in a controversial move by Marvel which left fans aghast. Morales was inspired to do good after learning of the death and in Ultimate Fallout issue four he dons the mask and gets into his first fight. Marvel has revealed that he does have a connection to Parker in terms of how he got his powers but he will have different abilities beyond ‘Spider Sense’ and the ability to shoot webs out of his hands. Parker’s Aunt May and Gwen Stacy will also be in the plot to help him on his way to being a superhero. ‘The theme is the same: With great power comes great responsibility,’ Spider Man writer Brian Michael Bendis told USA Today. He’s going to learn that. Then he has to figure out what that means. ‘He’s younger than Peter Parker, he’s coming from a completely different background, a completely different world view. ‘It’s Peter Parker’s death that inspires this kid to step up.’ Marvel’s editor in chief Axel Alonso denied that having a black Spider Man was a publicity stunt. What you have is a Spider-Man for the 21st century who’s reflective of our culture and diversity. ‘As someone who grew up on a steady diet of ‘Luke Cage, Hero For Hire’ and ‘Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu,’ I am personally invested. ‘This was a conscious decision. Here at Marvel, we pride ourselves on reflecting the real world in all its diversity. ‘We think that readers will fall in love with Miles Morales the same way they fell in love with Peter Parker.’ Italian artist Sara Pichelli, who designed Spider-Man’s new look, added: ‘Maybe sooner or later a black or gay – or both – hero will be considered something absolutely normal.’ Not everything in the world of Spider Man has changed, however. The Ultimate imprint is separate from Marvel’s other comics – where Parker is alive and well. Ultimate exists in a parallel universe where entirely different realities can take place, Marvel said. We are glad Marvel is adding more diversity to their comics, but how are they gonna say Miles “might” be gay? We thought Lady Gaga said gays were “Born That Way”??? Source
A music video set to the Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark song “Rise Above” surfaced online today, and beside the fact that the sleepy clip lacks any truly exciting footage (Backstage rehearsals!
