The former “Wizards of Waverly Place” actress has traded in her Mickey Mouse ears for a two-toned bikini and a whole lot of scandal in the upcoming “Spring Breakers.” “People will be a little shocked, I think,” Gomez told MTV News while promoting her new self-titled fragrance in New York on Saturday. “I’m a little nervous about it but honestly it’s a right step for me, I’m really proud of it.” Also shaking their squeaky-clean images in the flick are “Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson and Disney alum Vanessa Hudgens. The film follows the girls as they head to Florida for spring break, where they find themselves behind bars after robbing a restaurant. “I think as an actress it really challenged me,” Gomez said. “All of the other actresses are also trying to prove themselves, so it was just really, really fun.” Although Gomez is taking more chances with both her acting and music, there is still one role that is a little too racy for the 19-year-old: “Fifty Shades of Grey.” “I know I’m taking risks but I don’t think I could do that,” she told MTV News. “That would be a little too much for me.” Gomez became familiar with the hot and heavy storyline after being approached to star in Funny or Die’s “Fifty Shades of Blue.” “When they told me about the skit, I didn’t know what [‘Fifty Shades of Grey’] was about, so I started to read it and was like, oh, this is spicy, I thought it was good, it was intriguing,” she said. “The skit was really funny.” So with all of this research under her belt, who does the 19-year-old think should play S&M-loving Christian Grey’s object of affection? “Someone older should do that part,” she replied. It’s very true, folks: Miley Cyrus is engaged ! With the Internet buzzing over the actress and Liam Hemsworth agreeing to marry, Miley has taken to Twitter to express both her gratitude to fans and her excitement over someday becoming Mrs. Liam Hemsworth. “Thank you for all the love today 🙂 I’m happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true. Have a great day,” the 19-year-old wrote to her 5.8 million followers. Sources say the couple has no immediate plans to set a wedding date, and that Cyrus’ parents are both thrilled over the announcement. People, meanwhile, has posted a photo of the engagement ring , while we wanna know: Do you think Miley and Liam will last?

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Review: Simply Stunning

Technically and stylistically, David Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo should thrill fans of the Stieg Larsson book trilogy and newcomers alike. Simply put, the director’s dark vision and aesthetic brilliance make for a movie marvel. Casting, of course, plays a huge role in the film’s success, especially when the subject has already been tackled successfully by Swedish filmmakers with Noomi Rapace as the lead. In the U.S. version, Rooney Mara is scary good as Lisbeth Salander. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Trailer (Extended) Mara’s bravado is explosive and the actress deserves serious consideration for an Academy Award nomination. Throughout The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , it is difficult to take one’s eyes off of Mara, no matter how much takes place around her. Daniel Craig is also outstanding as the co-protagonist, a journalist recently disgraced for libel. Leah Messer: Getting Engaged to Jeremy Calvert?!

Leah Messer’s divorce from Corey Simms is still fresh. Heck, it hadn’t even played at the time last night’s Teen Mom 2 episode was filmed. But she’s already moved on. According to reports, she and Jeremy Calvert are very serious. In fact, he and Leah Messer “talk about getting engaged.” “We have a really good connection,” the 19-year-old MTV star gushed to Us . “It’s different from Corey and my relationship, because we were kinda like forcing it.” With Jeremy, she says, the chemistry and connection are stronger, since “you really know when you’re supposed to be with somebody and you’re not.” Most of the time, anyway. Leah Messer and Corey Simms, who are parents to 2-year-old twins Aliannah and Aleeah, wed in October 2010, then filed for divorce six months later. They work together to raise Aliannah and Aleeah, but the implosion of their union was clearly hard on her. Here’s hoping she’s happier this time around. May want to put the brakes on another engagement, though, girl. The Teen Mom crew doesn’t exactly have a good track record. Slow and steady. Breathe.

Mac Miller Ignored Label Offers On Road To #1 Debut

By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Mac Miller Photo: Getty Images What’s the first thing an artist does when he snags the #1 spot on the Billboard albums chart? Well, if he’s Mac Miller , he plays James Brown’s “I Feel Good” — and why wouldn’t he? On Wednesday (November 16), the 19-year-old Pittsburgh MC landed the #1 album with his independent debut, Blue Slide Park. It’s the first time an indie artist has obtained the top spot with a debut since Tha Dogg Pound did it in 1995. To mark the occasion, Mac — who is currently out on tour — appeared on “RapFix Live” via Skype. “It’s crazy. I’ve been trying to take it all in,” Miller told Sway. “I’ve just been in constant motion, so I haven’t gotten a chance to really stop and realize how crazy this is that we got the first #1 in 16 years. It’s nuts, man.” Mac broke out in 2010 when he signed to Rostrum Records and then dropped his K.I.D.S. mixtape. Rostrum, which is most noted for signing Wiz Khalifa, is an independent label. Even though Wiz is distributed through Atlantic Records, Mac has no major-label affiliation — not that the majors haven’t been interested. But Team Miller wanted to do things on their own. “I never really got far enough to see an offer for real,” Mac said. “I got no hatred towards major labels or anything. I never got a chance to hear what they had to say. We just really wanted to stick with our home team and keep it in the family.” Miller’s manager and Rostrum Records founder Benjy Grinberg has been fending off offers for Mac. “They called Benjy and wanted to talk, but Benjy was just on some ‘We’re not trying to talk right now, we’re doin’ this independently.’ And we just left it at that.” The move paid off. Since Blue Slide Park was released November 8, fans have been snatching up copies both digitally and physically. “The numbers are cool — 144,000, that’s crazy. But whatever it is, the fact that I got a #1 album on my first try independently is just something that no one could ever take away from me,” Mac said. “I had fans tweeting me with pictures of nine albums that they bought.” Did you snatch up Mac’s album? By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: MTV News Hey Lovatics: Demi Lovato is dishing on her next single, and her choice is the antithesis of her lead Unbroken track, the empowerment ballad “Skyscraper.” When MTV News caught up with Lovato as she celebrated her album’s release, she revealed that she’s chosen the flirty dance track “Who’s That Boy” as her next radio single, which features Dev and boasts production and writing from Ryan Tedder, Noel Zancanella and Devin Tailes. Demi is certainly having fun on the song, on which she sings lines like “I’ve been staring at ya/ And I could do it all night/ You’re looking like an angel/ With the kind of body that needs a spotlight.” “We’re in the middle of getting the treatment and things put together,” Lovato said of her next music video. “So hopefully we’ll be shooting that soon.” The song is certainly a more grown-up side of the 19-year-old, but she said she’s not ready to grow up too much. “I think it’s grown-up, but it’s not too grown-up,” Lovato told us about Unbroken. “It’s not tasteless. It’s growing up with my fans. It’s [like] I’m not a kid anymore, but I’m also not a full-grown woman either. So I’m in that in-between stage, trying to figure out where that is. So I’m figuring it out, just like my fans are.” Now that the album is out, Lovato said she doesn’t really know what’s next. “We don’t know what the tour plans are next, but hopefully I’ll be touring soon,” she said. “I’m looking forward to kind of just finding out what’s next.
