Source: FOX / Getty Jussie Smollett Situation Blows Up Twitter Well things have certainly escalated for Jussie Smollett . A couple of weeks ago, he claimed that he was assaulted by two men who yelled out racist slurs at him, including making him wear a noose and pouring bleach on him. The case was sort of fishy and has sparked all sorts of debate. As the days went by, the story got more and more bizarre. Now, police have enough suspicion that the whole thing is a lie that they have gone ahead and arrested Smollett this morning. There’s definitely a lot of evidence that Smollett told a lie. The whole thing has blown up Twitter and it’s getting ugly. Source: Gina Wetzler / Getty YG Received A $20K Payday From Birdman In A Football Bet YG has a lot of reasons to be happy right now. The rapper received a $20,000 payday from Birdman, all from a little football bet. YG officially confirmed that his payment came in on his Twitter account on Friday. Birdman money kame In — STAY DANGEROUS (@YG) January 24, 2019 Last Sunday, January 20, the Bompton native posted a video of himself celebrating the Los Angeles Rams and their victory over the New Orleans Saints in their NFC playoff matchup. As you probably already know, The Rams are now set to make their way to the 2019 Super Bowl and play against the New England Patriots on February 3 in Atlanta. Since the Rams’ win earlier in the week, YG has been on social media very publicly demanding that the Cash Money Records CEO pay him his money. Many fans jokingly assumed that since Birdman took almost 10 years to pay his own signee Lil Wayne, he would probably take his sweet time paying YG what he’s owed. He owes me $ https://t.co/PSsosXWd69 — STAY DANGEROUS (@YG) January 21, 2019 But luckily for YG (and for Birdmans’s reputation) that’s not the case this time. He paid the rapper his 20,000 less than a week later. Continue reading →

Source: Brian To/Fayes Vision/WENN.com / WENN Ooop! Alexandra Shipp Responds To Kiki Layne Wanting To Play Storm, Blames Black Twitter Alexandra Shipp was recently BIG bothered—and it was all “Black Twitter’s fault—HMPH! Actress Kiki Layne who’s seeing stellar acclaim for her breakout role in “If Beale Street Could Talk” recently confessed that she’d LOVE to take on Marvel’s iconic comic book character Storm who she always imagined was “powerful” and “chocolate.” “She was an image of myself, of a powerful chocolate black woman,” Layne told Variety at the Critics Choice Awards. “And I just think that’s an amazing image to have and I really want to play Storm. “We are actively plotting, actively plotting,” said Layne about her team throwing her name in the hat for the role. In case you didn’t know however, Storm’s already taken. Halle Berry played Storm in the first four X-Men movies and actress Alexandra Shipp’s been playing the iconic character since 2016. The quote’s clearly gotten back to Alexandra and she’s accusing none other than Black Twitter of pitting KiKi against her. Why? Well because she’s received criticism for being “too light” to play the character, so surely we all hyped up KiKi to steal her shine. “I won’t ever bad mouth a fellow actor,” wrote Alexandra. “I won’t ever actively try to take another hard working actors job. Y’all can keep trying to pin black women against each other but it won’t work on me, honey. Stay blessed.” I won’t ever bad mouth a fellow actor. I won’t ever actively try to take another hard working actors job. Y’all can keep trying to pin black women against each other but it won’t work on me, honey. Stay blessed. — Alexandra Shipp (@AlexShipppp) January 14, 2019 She later added this quote conflating #BlackLivesMatter with her stormy struggle. “Black twitter is so powerful. One second we’re trying to rally and define why our lives matter, the next we’re making each other feel like we’re not worthy of one. I’ll only spread and give love, no matter what tone my skin falls under. Bless up y’all ima go back to work x” Black twitter is so powerful. Jameela Jamil’s one-woman crusade against the weight loss industry continues. The The Good Place star’s latest target is a social media influencer who needs no introduction: Khloe Kardashian. Is Jameela’s criticism a rare miss, or is she right on the money? Khloe Kardashian took to Instagram on Thursday to share one of those goofy text posts that are designed to be relatable to people of every age. “2 things a girl wants,” the post begins with white text on a soft pink background. The text reads: “1) lose weight 2) eat.” Those two activities are often seen as contradictory. Losing weight is often a social pressure or personal desire, often to meet certain beauty standards. Eating, of course, is required for people to live. It is also intensely enjoyable. Those who eat less in order to lose weight or wish that they could bring themselves to do so could relate to Khloe’s post. On Twitter, Jameela Jamil was not amused by Khloe’s Instagram Story. “This makes me sad,” Jameela expressed. “I hope,” she wrote, that “my daughter grows up wanting more than this.” Jameela added: “I want more than this.” Alongside her tweet, she included a screenshot of Khloe’s post. Jameela made it clear that she does not harbor any ill will towards Khloe. “Sending love to this poor woman,” she emphasized. “This industry did this to her,” Jameela accused. “The media did it to her.” She wrote: “They fat shamed her into a prison of self critique.” “Dear girls,” Jameela concluded. “WANT MORE THAN THIS.” She finished her tweet with a large red heart emoji. Jameela Jamil has been taking aim at a number of celebrities on social media. In particular, she has excoriated those who promote weight-loss products. From “fit tea” to appetite suppressing lollipops, she sees social media influencers push these products upon young and impressionable followers. In real life, of course, these products often do little more than cause diarrhea. These are not the tools that wealthy influencers use to keep their bodies slender. For that, they have nutritionists, personal trainers, and sometimes even surgery. There is no “weight-loss secret.” it’s money. Just like with everything else. And Jameela doesn’t want to see young people damage their health because they think that they’re simply not trying hard enough. One might ask what Jameela, one of the most beautiful human beings on the planet, could possibly know about body image issues. The answer is: quite a lot. She has been open about her own experience with eating disorders, and revealed that even her reproductive organs were damaged by it. Even now, she says that makeup technicians have offered to hide stretch marks on her boobs. She is a model and actress, so she knows that she is in the spotlight. Fortunately, she can now handle it. Her concern is for countless impressionable young women (and men and those who are neither) who are so desperate to be thin that they’ll try anything. Jameela points out that widespread bullying is what pushed Khloe to transform her look. Khloe is fitness-obsessed these days. That was not always the case. In that accusation, we’d say that perhaps Jameela went a little too far. (I love Jameela, but she sounded a little patronizing — it’s not her or anyone’s place to speak for Khloe and her weight-loss motives) But given the scope of Khloe’s influence, being constructively critical of her post was extremely fair. Welp, that didn't take long. Chrissy Teigen just created the first viral moment of 2019. And she did it when the new year was merely a second old. Teigen appeared on NBC’s New Year’s Eve telecast on Monday evening, where she counted down to the new year with Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones and Today‘s Carson Daly. Typically, we'd be wondering why on earth a single person would ever go down to Times Square to watch the ball drop in person around this time. However, instead of shaking our heads over the thousands of revelers in the background of the clip featured here, we're laughing our rear ends off over what transpired between Teigen and Jones. You see, when the hilarious social media user and mother of two went in to hug Jones … she was accidentally smacked in the face by Leslie's umbrella. “I'm okay!” Teigen joked on Twitter after a follower shared video from the unexpected moment, adding: “7am. Heading back out to Time's Square to find my eyeball.” Jones, who is also an expert user of the Twitter machine, chimed in as follows: “Ugh I can't believe I hit @ChrissyTeigen in face!! Lordt!! I love you boo!! So Sorry. #ThatsWhyIHateUmbrellas.” Perhaps, however, this moment was actually planned in order to serve as a distraction from the mini controversy Teigen stirred up when she mentioned vaginal steaming on the show. Yes, vaginal steaming. In response, some viewers complained that the subject wasn’t appropriate for a telecast many were watching with they’re young kids. Wrote one individual, for example: “Maybe I’m old but not that old. Watching NBC with my 12 year old 20 min before the ball drops and Chrissy Teigen starts talking about vaginal steaming. Really?! “The host of NYE…vaginal steaming? Come on…have a little CLASS. Too many families watching honey. Not cute.” Do you agree? Ponder the answer while you watch Teigen gets destroyed by the umbrella in this footage.
We probably don’t need to tell that Kanye West has had quite a year. And to be clear, we don’t mean that in a good way. At all. Whether he was describing slavery as a choice or fantasizing about playing catch with Donald Trump, Yeezy found new and interesting ways to baffle and infuriate the masses in 2018. West swore off politics back in October, but that doesn’t mean he’s done being bonkers on social media. No, these past few weeks, Kanye has been devoting his attention to a bizarre feud with Drake . Although we’re not sure if “feud” is the right word, as it seems to be a pretty one-sided fixation on Kanye’s part. Anyway, it’s always a dangerous game guessing what’s going on in Kanye’s head, but as far as we can tell, the rapper’s final (?) tirade of 2018 is a result of his ongoing anger toward Drizzy. It all started with this all-time bonkers tweet. Either that’s a reference to the rumors that Drake had sex with Kim Kardashian , or Kanye really doesn’t understand his wife’s career, and that comment is directed at all of Twitter. Either way, with that, he was off. Kanye’s tweets ranged from the vaguely threatening (“See when you care about your family you don’t let no man push you to do nothing that could risk your freedom”) to the amusingly asinine (“Tweeting is legal and also therapeutic”). As far as we can tell, dude remains deeply pissed at Drake, but there was also a healthy dose of his usual pseudo-spiritual mumbo-jumbo in there as well. What does it all mean? Well, we doubt even Kanye himself could tell you. Whatever the case, it’s a reminder that you can safely anticipate even more insanity from hip-hop’s most unstable artist in 2019. As a send-off for his most memorable year yet, Kanye concluded today’s rant with this nugget of wisdom: “If I got any cooler I would freeze to death.” Carry that energy into the new year, folks.
