Suzy Favor Hamilton, Former Olympian, Apologizes for Life as an Escort

Suzy Favor Hamilton, a former U.S. Olympian in track and field, issued a formal apology today after her life as an escort in Las Vegas was exposed. In a story on The Smoking Gun , the 44-year old admitted she has worked under the alias ” Kelly Lundy ,” for the past year, selling herself for $600 an hour. Favor Hamilton lives with her husband, Mark, and seven-year daughter and told the website that the former “tried to stop” her and “wasn’t supportive” of the escort lifestyle at all. We wonder why. “I take full responsibility for my mistakes. I’m not the victim and I’m not going that route,” Favor Hamilton said. “I’m owning up to what I did. I would not blame anybody except myself. Everybody in this world makes mistakes. I made a huge mistake. Huge.” What was the appeal of this vocation? The runner took to Twitter today and tried to explain: “I was drawn to escorting in large part because it provided many coping mechanisms for me when I was going through a very challenging time with my marriage and my life. It provided an escape from a life that I was struggling in. It was a double life.” Favor Hamilton competed in the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympics; she did not medal in any of the events, but was a nine-time NCAA champion at the University of Wisconsin. “I cannot emphasize enough how sorry I am to anyone I have hurt as a result of my actions and greatly appreciate the support from family and those closest to me,” the runner Tweeted. “I fully intend to make amends and get back to being a good mother, wife, daughter, and friend.”

New Tupac Tracks Dis B.I.G., Diddy, More

Two new posthumous songs take aim at Dr. Dre, Nas, Mobb Deep, De La Soul and others. By Rob Markman Tupac Photo: Chi Modu Tupac Shakur ‘s rigorous recording habits ensured that the late rapper would continue to make a musical impact, even in the afterlife. Since his death in 1996, fans have been treated to albums worth of posthumous ‘Pac records, but the two records that leaked onto the Internet late Tuesday night are sure to cause a stir. A far cry from Shakur’s uplifting tunes like “Changes” and ” ‘Til the End of Time,” the two new tracks, “NY 87” and an alternate version of the little-known “Watch Yo Mouth,” take aim at East Coast rap artists like the Notorious B.I.G., Diddy, Mobb Deep, Nas, De La Soul and former ‘Pac ally Dr. Dre. Both songs appear to have been recorded circa 1996, when ‘Pac was in a feud with Diddy’s Bad Boy record label and various other New York artists, including the Notorious B.I.G. It was around this time when Shakur recorded and released his two most famous dis tracks “Hit ‘Em Up” and “Against All Odds” from his The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory album, which he recorded under the alias Makaveli. While “Watch Yo Mouth” is being touted as a new track, the song popped up online over two years ago. The version that was leaked this week has an alternate beat behind it, but the words remain the same. On it, the fiery Shakur begins with a barrage of Dr. Dre insults: “He ain’t made a beat in six years, swear he the sh–/ Won’t get no record sales suckin’ Nas’ di–.” Nasty Nas also gets thrown under the bus as ‘Pac compares the two rappers’ record sales. De La Soul, Wendy Williams, Diddy and the Notorious B.I.G. all get ridiculed. Even in his lyrical tirade, the rapper attempts to downplay the much-hyped East Coast/ West Coast beef of the mid-1990s by chanting, “For my n—as on the east side” throughout the song. “NY 87,” however, is a different story. Featuring raps by Tha Dogg pound (Daz and Kurupt) and Threat, the bass-heavy dis track starts with a monologue from DJ Quik declaring, “Them n—–s on the East is the enemy.” Though the track is being labeled on the Net as a ‘Pac track, it is Tha Dogg Pound who are prominently featured. Appearing only on the last verse, ‘Pac doesn’t name-check any artists, but he does spit, “Move mother—-ers ’til they feel me/ It’s West Coast n—a, f— New York, now did everybody hear me?” As of now it is unknown who released these tracks and why. The timing comes a little more than one week after Dexter Isaacs spoke to AllHipHop.com about his involvement in the 1994 robbery and non-fatal shooting of Shakur and after the hip-hop community celebrated what would’ve been Tupac’s 40th birthday on June 16. Many have speculated that the feud between Tupac and Biggie is what led to the deaths of both rappers. Those rumors have never been confirmed. What do you think of these two posthumous Tupac songs? Lil Wayne Covers Tupac’s ‘Perfect Verse’ On ‘Unplugged’

‘It’s just something about ‘Pac and I,’ Weezy tells MTV News about performing ‘Hail Mary’ on June 12 special. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil Wayne Photo: MTV It’s clear with his “Best Rapper Alive” proclamations that Lil Wayne wants to be remembered among the greats. And with an extensive and well-regarded catalog, he may already be there. Still, during Wayne’s MTV “Unplugged” special, set to air Sunday, June 12, the Young Money CEO pays homage to another rap legend: Tupac Shakur. “I knew because this is my ‘Unplugged,’ I said, ‘I want to do some kind of tribute to one of those great artists,’ ” Wayne explained to us of why he chose to perform the fallen MC’s 1996 single “Hail Mary.” “It’s just something about ‘Pac and I,” he said after the show’s taping last month. “I picked that second verse, ‘Penitentiaries is packed with promise makers,’ and I was like, ‘That whole verse is just perfect — they never realized the precious time that they wasting.’ ” “Hail Mary” appeared on Tupac’s The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, which he recorded under the alias Makaveli. Although ‘Pac finished the album before he was fatally gunned down on September 7, 1996, the LP wasn’t released until after he died. The track has been covered by quite a few rap artists, including Eminem, 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes, who remade the classic together in 2003 with a dis aimed at then-rival Ja Rule. The iconic song has never been covered by Weezy, though, until now. Last November, DJ Khaled appeared on “RapFix Live” and drew comparisons between Wayne and ‘Pac, noting Weezy’s eight-month incarceration for attempted gun possession, his work ethic and overall likability. “Ain’t nobody have that impact since Tupac. Lil Wayne is a genius and he’s a great person. He’s always showed love to everybody. You can’t say anything bad about Wayne,” Khaled told host Sway. “So when he was on vacation, it didn’t feel like he was gone. He dropped the album and it went #1. He was in every video. It was just as big. Now he’s home. When he was on vacation, he was that powerful. Imagine what he’s about to do.” Don’t miss “MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged,” premiering Sunday, June 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV2, MTV and MTV.com.

This is the first child for John, 63. A joint statement released by John and Furnish on Monday announced, “Zachary is healthy and doing well. [We are] overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment.” John and Furnish had attempted to adopt an HIV-positive 14-month-old boy from the Ukraine last year, but were prevented by government officials because of the pop icon’s age and marital status. But that didn’t turn the British singer away from his dream to become a father. He and Furnish hired a surrogate for the pregnancy, though they are keeping those details private. Flo Rida Talks Sampling Tupac On Only One Flo

‘I’m a big fan of his,’ Flo says of flipping ‘Pac’s ‘Hail Mary’ for his ladies’ jam ‘Come With Me.’ By Jayson Rodriguez Flo Rida Photo: MTV News On the surface Flo Rida and Tupac may not appear to have much in common, but the chart-topping rappers both had an affinity for Las Vegas. The late ‘Pac spent considerable time there as part of Suge Knight’s entourage and Flo relocated to Sin City before making it as an artist. Now, the pair are bound by music as Flo sampled Shakur’s hit “Hail Mary” for his track “Come With Me.” “That’s a record that’s on the romantic side, for the ladies,” Flo Rida told MTV News of the track, which appears on his most recent release, Only One Flo, Part 1. “It’s crazy to look at the credits and everything and have Tupac as one of the writers [on the album]. I’m a big fan of his and I was trying to take it up to the next level with this album.” Shakur’s “Hail Mary” was a taunting, slow-burning effort from his first posthumous offering, The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, which was released under the alias Makaveli. For “Come With Me,” Flo flips the haunting chorus into an upbeat chant about pursuing a young lady. “She wanna come with me,” the hook begins. “Lil mama wanna run quick, see/ What do we have here now/ Now do you wanna ride or die tonight, la da da da, la da da da.” “I never got to meet him or see him perform,” Flo said of the homage. “I just been a big fan of him doing his thing and me purchasing his albums or going online and watching the crazy shows.” What do you think of Flo sampling Tupac? Dondria Signed By Jermaine Dupri Thanks To YouTube Videos

‘I put a video on YouTube just to see what people would say,’ singer says of path that led her to a contract with So So Def Recordings. By Steven Roberts Dondria Photo: MTV News YouTube has given plenty of singers a shot at stardom, the most notable being teen sensation Justin Bieber. The website offers people a venue to showcase their talents, and sometimes they cultivate their own fanbase using the power of the Internet — in the case So So Def’s newest R&B sensation Dondria, the right person just happened to be watching her channel. Dondria began posting videos to the site under the alias Phatfffat in 2006, because she wanted to see what people really thought of her as a singer. “I put a video on YouTube just to see what people would say — besides my mom or my friends, because they could tell you you can sing but you probably can’t. I wanted to get that honest opinion on YouTube. A year later I had 25 videos up, people were coming out [from] everywhere trying to sign me or collaborate with me [and] one of those people was [Jermaine Dupri].” The So So Def boss flew her and her mother out Atlanta to start work — but it took a couple of months to convince Dondria he was actually JD. “First, he tried to reach me over YouTube, but I never got that message. Then he went over to MySpace, and at first I didn’t think it was him, so I was kind of ignoring him. ‘Don’t play with me, I’m smarter than that,’ ” Dondria replied. “But it was really him. I’m so mad — like, what if he had stopped writing me. I wouldn’t be here,” she offered. “I finally responded and realized that it was really him, and ever since then I’ve bugged him like, everyday. ‘Let’s work, like, right now! Let’s get it done!’ ” Dupri worked her tirelessly in hopes of bringing out her best and gave her the chance to work with the likes of Johnta Austin and No I.D., learn about the recording process and discover her own sound. Her debut album, Dondria vs. Phatfffat, is expected to be released in June. However, despite the title’s implications, the album isn’t a fight between personalities. “It’s not really an alter-ego thing — it’s really kind of explaining to everbody that I could be more than Phatfffat that you saw on YouTube that was singing other people’s songs, forgetting words and eating pizza. Dondria, she’s singing her own music. She’s proving to everybody that she can be an artist and not just a person on YouTube.” Are you looking forward to Dondria’s debut album?
