Source: NurPhoto / Getty Man Fires Shots And Took Hostages At NJ UPS According to NBCNewYork , a man ran inside at UPS mail-sorting facility in New Jersey, fired a shot, and took two women hostage, one of which was his ex-girlfriend. Police shot the unidentified man after had barricaded himself into a room and began a hostage negotiation. Neither of the women was harmed. ‘UPS is working with law enforcement as they respond to an active shooter situation at one of the company’s supply chain processing facilities in Logan Township, New Jersey. We cannot provide information about the identity of people involved at this time,’ UPS said in a statement. ‘There was a massive police presence as soon as we were walking out of the building, there were a good 10 cop cars, they all had their guns drawn out heading toward the main entrance of the building,’ Erickson said. ‘From what I understand it was someone who did not work there that was having a confrontation with their significant other,’ she added. A woman who moved from Baltimore to Tacoma, Washington with her husband and son was excited with the house she’d found in the Seattle area — that was until she read the fine print on the deed. According to the Seattle Times , “when the couple began to sign the closing documents, they discovered covenants that restricted ownership to whites only.” The woman is white, but her husband is Japanese-American and their adopted son is Korean-American. UW history professor James Gregory said, “Restrictive covenants on race were commonly written into deeds across the nation after 1926, the year that the U.S. Supreme Court initially found them to be lawful. The most restrictive covenants are attached to individual properties not governed by homeowners’ associations [so] they can’t ever be completely removed, because they are part of the property record. I’m not sure we want to get rid of them. They’re part of history. They should be acknowledged. Not hidden.” No word on whether or not the unidentified woman signed the deed. But as of Jan. 1, a new law allows you to file a request with the county auditor striking the discriminatory language from your deed. Thoughts?

According to United Press International , the unidentified worker was pronounced dead on Wednesday at the University Medical Center after the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m at the luxury hotel, condominium and timeshare on the Las Vegas Strip. It’s yet to be determined which floor or which side of the building the employee fell from. However, one guy said the worker was trying to swing around the corner of the tower. He was not an employee of the hotel, but a third party. According to the Las Vegas Trauma Intervention Program on Twitter, a crisis support volunteer came to the scene of the accident “to provide emotional and practical support to several individuals who witnessed the fatal fall earlier today.” The golden-glass building opened in 2008 and it’s home to 1,282 rooms according to the hotel’s site . The hotel is the third tallest completed structure in Las Vegas, standing at 640 feet. Trump International officials released a statement about the tragedy: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the incident today. We are working diligently with the owner of the third-party company to investigate the details. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family.”

The Internet Let Her Know This time of the year tends to bring folks wearing dark paint on their faces out of the woodwork, showing that the need to tell them of the racist harm inflicted by their selfish and reckless decisions is a must. Seemingly, people of color have to do this annual public service announcement warning against Blackface. Sigh. For the record, Kelly wondered aloud on her NBC talk show Tuesday morning what exactly was wrong with Blackface.“When I was a kid, that was OK, so long as you were dressing up as a character,” she said. Aside from the oblivious folks on her all-white panel, Kelly needs to know that excusing the pain and racism behind Blackface by saying it’s “OK” is not okay. Her latest offensive stunt on her show came after a man donned Blackface to dress up as Tiger Woods for a dog parade in Ohio on Saturday. Community members called out the unidentified man for his “disgusting display of racism,” demanded an apology and asked officials to enforce a zero-tolerance anti-racism policy. They wore tattered clothes to represent African-American slaves, portraying them as “lazy, ignorant and hypersexualized.” They mocked Blacks for entertainment’s sake, and their antagonism was based on a still-existing feeling of superiority over African-Americans. Kelly and other people purportedly uneducated about Blackface should know its history and racist roots. CBS reports, the white St. Louis woman who was filmed trying to prevent a black man from entering the luxury apartment building he lives in, has been fired from her job. D’Arreion Toles said he was returning home from work when the unidentified tenant physically blocked him from entering the downtown building. Toles recorded the incident on his cellphone and posted the video to Facebook . The video has more than 4 million views and has been shared over 113,000 times. The video shows the woman demanding proof that Toles lives in the apartment building. She can be seen standing in front of the entrance, refusing to let him in. Toles eventually pushes past the woman, who begins to ask who he’s visiting and follows him to his apartment door. When she realized Toles was in fact a resident, she begins to claim that she wants to introduce herself as a neighbor. Toles said police arrived at his apartment about 30 minutes after he entered his apartment, but they left without giving anyone a citation. And yesterday, it briefly looked as though their time had come. Video of Hart sitting in a car with a young woman at 5 am emerged online yesterday, and at first, it looked mighty incriminating. Then, slowly, the truth began to emerge. Those who watched the video closely noted that Kevin appears to be sitting in the passenger seat, and the unidentified woman is in the back. What’s more, there’s a third person in the car, seated in the passenger seat. Hart talks to both parties, and at no point does he engage in any physical contact with the woman. When MTV announced that Briana DeJesus would be joining the cast of Teen Mom 2 for the show’s upcoming season, the news was met with a fair amount of confusion. After all, the show certainly wasn’t lacking in storylines, and none of the existing cast members had left the series, so why bring in yet another mom? Now, it seems that TM2 producers were aware of some very important information about Briana: The girl has an incredible talent for bringing the drama. Already, DeJesus has feuded with Jenelle Evans and pissed off several of the other ladies – and she hasn’t even made her debut on the show yet. Now, it seems Briana is butting heads with a mom who’s not even associated with MTV’s most popular frianchise anymore. Mackenzie McKee starred alongside DeJesus in the ill-fated Teen Mom 3 , which lasted for just one season. She openly expressed her shock and surprise after learning that producers chose Briana instead of her to joing the cast of TM2. That was several months ago, but it seems Mackenzie is still a bit salty about the decision: As you can see, Mackenzie liked a tweet in which a fan complained about the addition of Briana to the cast. DeJesus took a screen shot and retweeted it along with a simple question: why? Mackenzie didn’t respond to Briana’s query, but did go on to rant about someone who follows her on social media only to “spread hate.” “I don’t hate anyone. I’ve always loved this person. But I can promise she hates me,” McKee tweeted, adding that she blocked the unidentified hater. Dating is one thing, but is Mariah Carey really ready to get married to boytoy dancer Bryan Tanaka? Reportedly, she’s not only ready to tie the knot but actively pressuring him to propose. “Bryan’s eating out of her palm again now and Mariah’s desperate to seal the deal before they get sabotaged again,” an insider claims. The report that Mariah is pressuring Bryan comes from RadarOnline and their source. We’d really rather hear it directly from Mariah … though obviously she’d never just come out and say that. It’s not a casual Katy Perry diss, after all. Not everyone’s onboard with their relationship, either. “So many people from both their circles have tried to keep them apart, but she’s convinced they have what it takes to last the course,” the source says. Well, all sides being against the union sounds like a tragic romance. Not always the best set-up when there are children in the mix. Even the anonymous insider cautioned that Mariah’s feelings aren’t set in stone: “Obviously, her feelings change like the wind each day, but to be fair Bryan has a hold over her that no other guy’s had for a long time.” Yes, even the unidentified tipster has doubts. Again, it’s usually healthy to view things coming from “a source” with a grain of salt. But this isn’t the least believable story in the world. Bryan was her backup dancer back in 2006, so they’ve known each other for eleven years. That is a long-ass time to know someone, even just as friends. And, um, they’re clearly more than that. Before we get ahead of ourselves, we do need to think a little about context. Mariah’s breakup with billionaire James Packer was, well, reportedly because of all kinds of things, from allegations of cheating with Bryan Tanaka to extravagant spending habits. The spending thing sounds pretty realistic to us — financial disagreements are a very common, if not terribly salacious, reason for breakups. But if she was spending too much for James’ liking, how is she going to go from being a sugar baby to a sugar momma? Well, as much of a sugar baby as Mariah could have been since she’s worth half a billion — and as much of a sugar baby as Bryan can be if he’s worth around a million. It’s all relative, apparently. Still, it doesn’t seem like it’s the best next step for her to take in a relationship. Maybe she isn’t thinking with her head right now. Hopefully, she’ll make the best decision for herself and her children. You don’t want to get married based on thirst alone. Not when you’re nearly fifty. And super not when you have kids.
