Fatima Ali Dies; Top Chef Star Was 29

Sad news out of the food world today, as beloved Top Chef star Fatima Ali has passed away at the age of 29. Ali had been battling Ewing Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, since 2017. News of Chef Fatima’s passing was confirmed today by the Bravo network. “We are deeply saddened to share the news that Fatima Ali has lost her courageous battle with cancer,” said a representative. “Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time. “People not only fell in love with her cooking, but fell in love with her personality and heart. We hope that the beautiful memories shared with her will provide comfort to everyone who knew and loved her.” Ali underwent surgery to remove a tumor last year, and she told People magazine that she was “technically cancer-free” while attending the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen last July. Ali seemed to suspect that her battle was far from over, and sadly, she was right. In October of 2018, Ali revealed that her cancer had returned with a vengeance in a heartbreaking article for Bon Appetit . “The cancer cells my doctors believed had vanished are back with a vengeance in my left hip and femur bone,” Fatima wrote, adding that doctors had given her “a year to live, with or without the new chemotherapy regimen.” She opted out of the chemo and instead devoted her final months to experiencing as much of life as she possibly could in the short time she had remaining. “I am desperate to overload my senses in the coming months, making reservations at the world’s best restaurants, reaching out to past lovers and friends, and smothering my family, giving them the time that I so selfishly guarded before,” Ali wrote. “I was looking forward to being 30, flirty, and thriving. Guess I have to step it up on the flirting. I have no time to lose.” A favorite among fans and colleagues on Top Chef , Ali received an outpouring of support from her co-stars after revealing her diagnosis, and now, past and current contestants are paying loving tribute to an incredible talent who was taken much too soon. “It’s with a heavy heart we say goodbye to Fatima Ali today, as she has lost her battle with cancer. I will miss you Fati, and you will be in my heart forever,” fellow chef Bruce Kalman wrote along with the above photo. “I’ll always remember the great times we had, especially our interview during the tailgating episode discussing football, stadiums, and Taylor Swift. Much love, Bruce.” Our thoughts go out to Chef Fatima’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time She will be greatly missed by many.

Tragic: Window Washer Falls To His Death At Trump Hotel In Las Vegas

Source: ak_phuong / Getty Details Remain Fuzzy About The Incident A major tragedy happened on Trump property when a window washer fell to his death from the 64-story Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. According to United Press International , the unidentified worker was pronounced dead on Wednesday at the University Medical Center after the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m at the luxury hotel, condominium and timeshare on the Las Vegas Strip. It’s yet to be determined which floor or which side of the building the employee fell from. However, one guy said the worker was trying to swing around the corner of the tower. He was not an employee of the hotel, but a third party. According to the Las Vegas Trauma Intervention Program on  Twitter,  a crisis support volunteer came to the scene of the accident “to provide emotional and practical support to several individuals who witnessed the fatal fall earlier today.” The golden-glass building opened in 2008 and it’s home to 1,282 rooms according to the hotel’s site . The hotel is the third tallest completed structure in Las Vegas, standing at 640 feet. Trump International officials released a statement about the tragedy: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the incident today. We are working diligently with the owner of the third-party company to investigate the details. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family.”

R.I.P: Crew Member Gets Killed On The Set Of ‘Power’ While Shooting On-Location In Brooklyn

Source: Bryan Bedder / Getty Power Crew Member Dies On Set After Accident While Shooting An extremely unfortunate accident on the sixth season of  Power  has left a longtime production assistant dead. Pedro Jimenez was fatally struck by a SUV at around 4:30 AM ET on Monday while setting up parking cones for a Brooklyn location shoot for the series. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the members of our  Power  family,” a Starz spokesperson told Deadline   following the death of the 63-year old Parking PA. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Jimenez’ family as we work to fully understand what has happened.” Jimenez has been with the series since its first day of production when  Power  debuted back in 2014. NYPD officials say that they are investigating the incident and have spoken to the driver of the 2006 Ford Explorer that hit Jimenez; The driver was also a member of the  Power  crew. In the midst of the filming for the upcoming season of the drama series executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson,  Power  has temporarily shut down production following the horrible incident. This move is of course out of respect for the family of Jimenez, which was informed of his death almost immediately after he was pronounced dead by medical authorities at Brooklyn Hospital this morning. Sources also told Deadline that the halting of filming also will allow crew members and cast on the series starring Omari Hardwick, Naturi Naughton, Lela Loren and Joseph Sikora deal with the loss. No cast members were on set when Jimenez occurred, as their call time was not until 7 AM ET, almost 3 hours later. As of now, there’s no word on when production will resume, but a planned holiday break on the show is coming up soon, so the shutdown could go into early 2019.

Texas Teacher Arrested for Picking Up Student at Chick-fil-A, Banging Him in Parking Lot

A Texas history teacher was arrested this week and charged with sexual assault with an ex-student after meeting up with him at a local Chick-fil-A restaurant. People Magazine was the first outlet to report the incident. According to court records, Michelle Schiffer has been charged with engaging in an improper relationship with a student who is now 16 years old. He was 15 at the time of the sexual encounter. Schiffer is 23. The teacher told authorities that she met the unnamed student at the aforementioned fast food restaurant before they went to a friend’s home to have sex. The student, meanwhile, told authorities that Schiffer picked him up once at a park in her car – and then the inappropriate twosome drove around the neighborhood before having sex in a parking lot. This second allegation was reported by local TV station CW39. The same network adds that Schiffer and the student had sex on multiple occasions. Schiffer teaches world history at Cypress Springs High School in Cypress, Texas. She was ordered to appear in court on Wednesday to face her charges, while a judge has set bond at $30,000. Official records indicate that Schiffer posted the amount later that day and is now a free woman. Having admitted that she also smoked marijuana with this student in the car, it’s also safe to classify her as a messed up woman. The Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District has said in a statement that the 23-year old was immediately removed from campus and placed on administrative leave once they learned of the charges. We’d have to imagine she’ll soon be fired. “We will continue to protect our students and not tolerate relationships of an inappropriate nature,” the statement reads. No word on the scandal from Chick-fil-A, although there’s no real reason for the chain to speak out. Matt Lauer’s Wife Just Fled the Country

Talk about a tale of two wives… As previously reported, Matt Lauer has very few friends in light of the sexual harassment, misconduct and assault claims recently made against him. But one unexpected source of support has actually been his ex-wife, Nancy Alspaugh, who told Entertainment Tonight that she has reached out to Lauer and supports him “one hundred percent,” even adding: “He’s been the best person that’s ever held that job… “I couldn’t imagine that anything that he would have done – that would have been so out of character for him – that would have caused that reaction.” She’s referring, of course, to the reaction of NBC to allegations that Lauer acted inappropriately in the presence of at least one co-worker. Inappropriate in a sexual manner, that is, which caused the network to terminate Lauer’s contact this past Monday night. Conversely, however, Lauer’s current wife is showing her husband no such support. According to The New York Post, Annette Roque has actually fled the United States in the wake of these horrible accusations. She has allegedly taken the couple’s two youngest children – Romy, 14, and Thijs, 11 – and returned to her native Netherlands to be with family. (The couple also share a 16-year old son named Jack.) Roque and Lauer actually field for divorce over a decade ago, prior to changing their mind. There’s been talk for years that Lauer has not been loyal to his wife, as he lives at least half of the time in New York City; while she and the kids reside in Long Island. Seven months pregnant in 2006 when she filed to legally split from Lauer, Roque cited “cruel and inhumane” treatment in her official papers, mentioning Lauer’s “extremely controlling” behavior at the time. The two have since reconciled, but it’s barely even a secret that they live separate lives. “They play happy families at their Hamptons home on weekends, and then she lets him run off to New York to do Today – and goodness knows what else,” an East End source told to Radar Online in September. Hollywood, meanwhile, remains rocked by the Lauer scandal. Yes, it’s just the latest in a long line of alleged sexual misbehavior by male stars such as Kevin Spacey, Louis CK and Charlie Rose. But Lauer was the face of NBC, the highest paid employee at the network, the person who greeted millions of Americans every morning. Said News Chairman Andrew Lack in the statement that confirmed Lauer’s firing: “While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years he’s been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident. “Our highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences, no matter who the offender. “We are deeply saddened by this turn of events.” The embattled morning anchor has since apologized in a statement of his own, saying on Thursday: “There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry.” Since this story broke, follow-up reports have claimed Lauer dropped his pants in front of staffers, gifted them with sex toys and may have even raped one of them . Harry Dean Stanton Dies; Veteran Actor Was 91

Harry Dean Stanton, a veteran star of the big screen and small screen, died on Friday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. He was 91 years old. The actor broke out in the film Paris, Texas and was also famous for roles in Twin Peaks, Big Love, Pretty in Pink and Repo Man. Altogether, the legendary thespian’s career spanned six decades and his final performance will air later this month when the movie Lucky hits theaters. It centers on an atheist who comes to terms with his own mortality. “We lost a legend today with the passing of Harry Dean Stanton,” reads the statement, posted on the film’s official Twitter page. It adds: “Everyone involved with Lucky is deeply saddened by this tremendous loss. “We had always hoped to celebrate this film and Harry’s beautiful performance with Harry himself. “Our hearts go out to all who knew him, all who loved him, and his fans the world over. He will be missed, but his work will live on as long as people watch his films.” On HBO’s Big Love, Stanton portrayed Roman Grant, while he recently appeared as Carl Rodd in the Twin Peaks revival on Showtime. Stanton was already 58 years old when he nabbed his first leading role in the aforementioned Paris, Texas. Written by Sam Shepard, the movie won the Palme d’Ora at the Cannes Film Festival in 1984, catapulting Stanton to the big time in the process. “Stanton has long inhabited the darker corners of American noir, with his lean face and hungry eyes, and here he creates a sad poetry,” wrote famed critic Roger Ebert in response to the performance. In 1986, Stanton found mainstream success when he played Molly Ringwald’s unemployed father in Pretty in Pink. Years later, he portrayed a fiery Paul/Saul in Martin Scorsese’s controversial movie The Last Temptation of Christ, although the actor was among those in the film criticized by many as being miscast. The late star was also good friends (and former roommates) with Jack Nicholson; the two appeared opposite each other in Ride in the Whirlwind. Along with acting, Stanton sang and played rhythm guitar and harmonica in a Tex-Mex band that did weekly gigs at The Mint in Los Angeles. Said Twin Peaks creator David Lynch upon learning of Stanton’s death: “The great Harry Dean Stanton has left us. “There went a great one. There’s nobody like Harry Dean. Everyone loved him. And with good reason. He was a great actor (actually beyond great) — and a great human being — so great to be around him!!! You are really going to be missed Harry Dean!!! “Loads of love to you wherever you are now!!!” Stanton was in the Navy in World War II and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. Christopher “Big Black” Boykin Dead At 45 Christopher “Big Black” Boykin, best known for his appearances alongside pro skater Rob Dyrdek on MTV reality shows Rob & Big , and Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory , has died. He was 45 years old. A rep for Boykin confirmed to People that the reality personality suffered a heart attack and passed away on Tuesday morning. Boykin leaves behind a daughter, 9-year-old Isis Rae Boykin. MTV left an official statement regarding the passing of one of their most well-known network personalities, who brought many a laugh to their viewers: “MTV is deeply saddened to learn the news of Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin’s passing. He was a longtime and beloved member of the MTV family and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.” Truly sad news, and very unfortunate, since Boykin struggled to manage his weight and health over the years. Splash
