Victor Willis Calls Out Grammys For Racist Voting Practices We already know the Grammys don’t have a strong track record for recognizing “Us” and our musical accomplishments. And Lord KNOWS the backlash that came after Adele scooped up “Beyonce’s Award” last weekend. But one singer is swearing that the Grammys aren’t just out of touch or slanted toward older, whiter singers …but that there’s a committee in place whose sole purpose it is to make SURE that too many Black artists don’t skip across the stage with gold trophies. Victor Willis, the “cop” and lead singer of the Village People sent a strongly worded letter to the President of the Recording Academy, demanding he confess to the public about the existence of the secret group that he says was back in 1985 formed after Lionel Richie beat out Bruce Springsteen for the Album of the Year. According to TMZ , Willis says the committee’s only purpose is to “override the decision of Grammy voters in the event the select committee does not like who the Grammy voter has chosen” for the 4 most important awards. “The question is how many African Americans are on that committee? If certain people at the Grammys don’t like who the voters have chosen, a Grammy committee will simply override the voters and subsequently select who they think should win. Like Adele, maybe?” Well, damn. TMZ researched it further and it does appear that there is indeed a secret committee in place, but allegedly it’s designed cancel out “embarrassing” nominations — lip-syncers like, Milli Vanilli, for instance. But once the nominations are set in stone, the Grammy voters have the final word. So they say. Do YOU think the Grammys go out of their way to block black folks from winning ?

Man Kills Wife And Chops Off Lover’s Genitals This is so crazy. We’ve never heard of the the village of Shama before but apparently it’s in the southwestern Russian Autonomous Republic of Tatarstan — wherever that is, it’s the setting of a gruesome double murder at the hands of a jealous husband who caught his wife in the act with her lover. According to Daily Mail reports the man told police his wife told him she was going to see some female friends in the next village. When it got late he called the friend and discovered his wife had lied, but he already had suspicions she was cheating with another man in the village so he went to his home. When he arrived and found them having sex he grabbed a knife and cut off the other man’s penis and testicles, then stabbed his wife. Once he realized she was dead he turned himself in to police. Probably the most tragic detail about this story is that the couple had children, so with their mother dead and their father in jail for killing her, they will be placed in an orphanage. Rio Police Say Ryan Lochte Lied About Robbery In a weird twist of events, Brazilian police were ordered to detained 2 of the 4 athletes who reported getting robbed at gun point this week under suspicion that they may be lying. A judge ordered the men be detained after a video surfaced of them returning to Olympic village the night of the robbery, smiling and with the objects they claim were stolen according to The Daily Mail . Ryan Lochte and Jimmy Feigen are the two athletes in question. Lochte has reportedly already left the country, but Feigen is still in Brazil under police custody. A judge gave authorities the go ahead after doubts began to grow over the claims made by the swimmers in light of the surveillance video obtained by DailyMail.com earlier this week showing the group laughing and smiling as they returned to the Olympic Village. Lochte’s mother later broke the news of the alleged robbery later that day while speaking with Fox Sports. The athletes are now accused of lying about the incident after the publication of the video Tuesday led investigators to change their line of inquiry. A formal request for their passports to be seized reveals that the two men will now be investigated for the false communication of a crime, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in jail in Brazil. Records retrieved by investigators from the X-ray machine through which the athletes passed in the Village also showed that the men were carrying all the belongings which they had claimed in sworn statements to police had been stolen. Lochte, 32, had already flown out of the country and is home in the US while Feigen’s whereabouts are still not known. Feigen, 26, had been in Rio all day Tuesday but it is unclear if he took a flight home before the judge’s order. Here is the surveillance video of the swimmers returning to the village hours after the alleged robbery. Sounds pretty serious. We hope they have a great explanation.
