Craig Wayne Boyd – I Walk the Line (The Voice Top 10) Craig Wayne Boyd makes his bid for the Top 8 with a cover of Johnny Cash’s “I Walk the Line.” For the first time in the series, the teams were treated to guest mentors during a live round: Patrick Stump, Christina Aguilera, Colbie Caillat, and Diana Ross! Also legendary producer Clive Davis was on hand to assist. What could they coax out of the ten stars in training? Craig Wayne Boyd (Team Blake) : With a cover of Johnny Cash’s hit “Walk the Line,” he earned a standing ovation with his authenticity, talent and charisma. Matt McAndrew (Team Adam) : He took on Coldplay’s “Fix You” with an upper range that gave Gwen (and probably a few others) the chills in a big way. Anita Antoinette (Team Gwen) : Performing a reggae rendition of Passenger’s “Let Her Go,” with some Aguilera style runs, this one was a big success. Damien (Team Adam) : His take on Stevie Wonder’s “You and I,” won endless praise from Pharrell, and the crowd seemed to get totally into it as it went on. Reagan James (Team Blake) : This rendition of Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” was the most unique effort of the night and one of her best this season thus far. Luke Wade (Team Pharrell) : Seeking to redeem himself on Otis Redding’s “Try A Little Tenderness,” he appeared to right the ship and then some Monday. Ryan Sill (Team Gwen) : On Muse’s “Starlight,” he took Aguilera’s advice to deviate from the original, and is among the most improved of the Top 10. Is that enough? DaNica Shirey (Team Pharrell) : Bold as it was to even attempt Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing,” in front of Clive Davis, she won plaudits and praise galore. Taylor John Williams (Team Gwen) : Rocking out to The Beatles’ “Come Together,” his stage presence was the main takeaway from this strong performance. Chris Jamison (Team Adam) : Singing Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk,” he showed strong rhythmic ability and his comfort with the entire stage. What do you think? Joaquin Phoenix Doesn’t Want Your Bull**** Oscar Carrot

Joaquin Phoenix has a collection of awards nominations and wins that many actors would look upon with envy, but he is calling, “bullshit.” The actor won applause at the Toronto International Film Festival for his role in Paul Thomas Anderson ‘s The Master and he even picked up a Best Actor prize at the Venice Film Festival last month (shared with Philip Seymour Hoffman ). But the actor said he thinks the whole process is the “stupidest thing in the whole world.” Speaking with Interview magazine in their latest issue about a wide-range of topics, the two-time Oscar nominee blasted the awards race, saying he’d like to stay clear of the machine, even as the current season – and industry – of awards goes into full throttle. “I’m just saying that I think it’s bullshit. I think it’s total, utter bullshit, and I don’t want to be a part of it. I don’t believe in it. It’s a carrot, but it’s the worst-tasting carrot I’ve ever tasted in my whole life. I don’t want this carrot. It’s totally subjective. Pitting people against each other . . . It’s the stupidest thing in the whole world.” Phoenix received Oscar noms for Walk the Line (2005) and Gladiator (2000) and has been all but anointed with another one this year for The Master . He’s also received many festival nods throughout his lengthy acting stint and even a Golden Globe for Best Performance for an Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for Walk the Line in which he played musician Johnny Cash. “It was one of the most uncomfortable periods of my life when Walk the Line was going through all the awards stuff and all that. I never want to have that experience again. I don’t know how to explain it – and it’s not like I’m in this place where I think I’m just above it -but I just don’t ever want to get comfortable with that part of things.”

Jay-Z: Kanye West is Just "Passionate"

The only person yet to weigh in on Kanye West’s Taylor Swift ambush at the MTV VMAs has finally said his piece, thanks to a BBC Radio 1 DJ who got ahold of him. “It’s an awards show,” Jay-Z said, dismissing the controversy surrounding his collaborator and good friend Kanye. “He’s just a super passionate person.” That’s a nice way of saying ” jackass .” Jay-Z, the husband of Beyonce, who Kanye was giving props to during his rant on stage, did acknowledge that, “Of course it was rude, it was her moment.” But, “that’s the way he felt .
