Where Will Bruno Mars’ ‘Rain’ Fall In ‘Breaking Dawn’?

MTV News takes a closer listen to ‘It Will Rain’ for lyrical clues about its placement in the film. By Jocelyn Vena and Amy Wilkinson Bruno Mars Photo: Jemal Countess/Getty Images On Tuesday (September 27), Bruno Mars dropped the sweeping, heartbreaking “It Will Rain,” the lead single from the “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” soundtrack , which drops November 8. The Smeezingtons-produced song is all about the pain someone feels when they are deeply in love. On it, Mars croons tortured lines like “There’s no religion that could save me/ No matter how long my knees are on the floor/ So keep in mind all the sacrifices I’m making/ To keep you by my side/ And keep you from walking out the door.” While Twilighters will have to wait until November 18 to find out where the song will be featured in the flick, there are several lyrical cues that offer hints. Hit play on the embedded video as we talk through the song, then read on for a deeper exploration. The Wedding Of course it won’t appear in the actual wedding scene, like when Bella walks down the aisle, but lines like “I’ll never be your mother’s favorite/ Your daddy can’t even look me in the eye/ If I was in their shoes I’d be doing the same/ Say, ‘There goes my little girl/ Walking with that troublesome guy’ ” certainly mirror Charlie’s feelings about the nuptials. Jacob’s Goodbye When Mars sings, “Don’t you say goodbye/ Don’t you say goodbye/ I’ll pick up these broken pieces till I’m bleeding/ If that’ll make it right,” it seems to mimic the heartbreak Jacob feels as he sees Bella marry another man and says goodbye to her once more. The Honeymoon Sure, the song is about heartbreak and pain, but the sexy, sultry nature of the track could make for the right kind of mood-setter as Bella and Edward finally get it on. The Pregnancy As Mars cries, ” ‘Cause there’ll be no sunlight/If I lose you, baby/ There’ll be no clear skies/ If I lose you, baby/ And just like the clouds, my eyes will do the same/ If you walk away, every day it’ll rain,” it mirrors Edward’s angst as he thinks he might lose Bella if she has their child, a vampire/human hybrid. ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Says Ciao To Elisabetta Canalis

David Arquette and Chaz Bono join George Clooney’s ex in bottom three. By Kelley L. Carter Elisabetta Canalis Photo: ABC Networks In the final minutes of Tuesday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” elimination show, it was George Clooney’s ex-girlfriend who was given the boot. Elisabetta Canalis and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, were eliminated after landing in the bottom three alongside David Arquette and Kym Johnson and Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer. The Italian actress and host seemed a bit jarred when it was revealed she was the contestant leaving in week two, considering that she and her partner had impressed the judges with a big improvement from last week . “I’m not going to say much. I’m just going to say this: It’s not great, but it was better than last week,” head judge Len Goodman said before scoring her Monday. Tonioli disagreed, saying, “The gears were grinding, the engines were hot. The pistols were pumping. Keep working.” Canalis ultimately scored 21 out of 30, which placed her right in the middle of the pack and above Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Arquette and Johnson, Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya and Bono and Schwimmer. Canalis, who looked to be holding back tears, expressed how much she enjoyed her short time on the show: “I want to thank everybody, because they made me come here! Thanks to the public and everybody who voted for us. It was a great experience.” Chmerkovskiy, a newcomer who also is Maksim’s younger brother, said he was very proud of his celeb partner. “I wish I did better for you. But I’m very lucky to be here,” he said. Were you surprised to see Elisabetta go? Let us know in the comments!

Crystal Bowersox Confirms "Moment of Doubt," Near Idol Departure

She’s the clear season nine favorite on American Idol , but Crystal Bowersox has never looked comfortable on stage. The folksy singer admitted many months ago that she had never watched an episode of Idol , and she’s been outwardly shaken up when certain contestants – such as Lilly Scott and Katie Stevens – were eliminated this year. Therefore, it didn’t come as a major shock this week when a report leaked out that said Bowersox was close to quitting the competition, but was convinced to stay by Ryan Seacrest. On Facebook yesterday, Crystal confirmed this rumor, writing: We all have moments of doubt. As much as I miss my kid, the big picture is this: im doing this for him and my fans. I’m having the time of my life! Sounds like Bowersox will be sticking around – and thank goodness for that. On the most lackluster season to date, we don’t even want to imagine tuning in to Idol each week and not at least having Crystal to look forward to.
