Cassandra Waldon, Groundbreaking Big Brother Contestant, Dead at 56

Very sad news today out of the reality television universe: Cassandra Waldon, a memorable CBS personality who became the first-ever Big Brother contestant to enter the house on the U.S. version of this program, has been killed. She was 56 years old. According to TMZ, the outlet that broke this sad piece of news, Waldon passed away on September 25 from injuries related to a car accident in Rome. A source at the United Nations — where Cassandra worked — tells the celebrity gossip website that the ex-reality star struck by a vehicle about two months ago, suffering a head injury in the process. Tragically, she never regained consciousness before her death. The standout former Big Brother contestant is now being remembered and mourned by those who knew who well. And those who remember her run way back in the day. Host Julie Chen, for instance, wrote the following on Instagram: “Thank you for bringing your intelligence, warmth and wisdom to the Big Brother house Season 1.” In the end, Weldon finished sixth out of 10 houseguests. In the history of the U.S. version of Big Brother, no contestant who entered the home first has ever come out on top. The same actually holds true for the Canadian version. Prior to her passing, Weldon worked at the UN as its Director of Communications for the International Fund for Agricultural Development. She was living and working in Rome when the crash took place. Fans of Big Brother are also speaking out on social media about this tragedy. “Sad news, Cassandra Waldon of Big Brother 1 passed away last month,” one fan wrote, adding: “She worked at the U.N. at the time she was on the show, and was well-liked by her roomies and viewers alike.” Added another: “Such a shame… She was my favorite contestant on season one. She was so thoughtful and smart.” Added Chen in her tribute: “Your light will continue to shine in this world because of the way you lived your life: with class and grace… You are in my thoughts and in my prayers. May God Bless your soul.” TMZ reports that told her funeral will be held next weekend in her home state of Maryland. May she rest in peace. Janice Freeman, Popular Voice Contestant, Dead at 33

Tragic news today out of the music and television world: Janice Freeman, a beloved contestant on The Voice in 2017, died on Saturday evening of complications related to a blood clot. She was 33 years old. According to TMZ, who spoke to the singer’s family, Freeman was at home in West Covina with her husband, Dion, when she began to have trouble beathing. Dion reportedly called 911 and had to perform CPR on his wife until paramedics arrived. Janice was then pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m. at a local hospital. “We are heartbroken to report that Janice Marie Freeman passed away on March 2, 2019 from an extreme case of pneumonia,” Freeman’s rep told E! News and other outlets. Continues this statement: “She was a survivor and fighter, and a beautiful force in this world. Janice gained notoriety through her success on NBC’s The Voice as a member of Miley Cyrus’s team. “Her story inspired fans nationwide, having successfully battled cervical cancer and living her life to the fullest while fighting lupus.” Freeman also overcame cervical cancer and meningitis, but this blood clot allegedly traveled to her lungs and there was nothing that could be done to save her. The artist advanced all the way to the final 11 on Season 13 of The Voice. She was a member of Team Miley Cyrus and stayed in close touch with the superstar, actually sharing an emotional thank you video dedicated to Cyrus after the celebrity assisted Freeman and her loved ones when they were searching for a place to live last year. “Thank you ALL but she found us placement until we found permanent housing, gave me the deposit, covered me for 6 months so I can get on my feet!” Freeman tweeted at the time, adding: “@MileyCyrus you are one of my closest friends and what you did for me and my family Im praying GOD gives you the desire of your heart!” Wrote Miley as a caption to the photo below, upon learning of Freeman’s death: Thank you @janicefreeman.. for everything. This represents you perfectly.” She’s referring, as you can see here, to the picture of a rainbow. Concludes the statement from Freeman’s rep: “Her friends and family greatly appreciate your prayers, call, and texts during this time, and ask that they be given space to remember everything that Janice was to them as they process and mourn her loss. “She is survived by her husband Dion, daughter Hannah, her mother Janice, brothers and sisters , and many extended family.” In response to this awful piece of news, Jennifer Hudson also commented on Instagram. “@janicefreeman the voice of hers we got to hear and the bit of life we got to watch her live was a blessing and inspiration to us all!” the Oscar winner wrote. “My heart and prayers go out to @janicefreeman daughter and family ! @mileycyrus @nbcthevoice #ripjanicefreeman” Just a few weeks ago, meanwhile, Freeman shared her own heartfelt message on Instagram. This is what she wrote: “I want to give ALL praises to THE FATHER for this healing process! It has been a difficult, trying, discouraging, mentally draining, etc last 3 months I have had to deal with in a very long time! “But God is FAITHFUL and HE is healing my body and I’m starting to see a little clearly again!… I’m so grateful and overwhelmed because HE loves me so in spite of me deserving it or not.” This is so awful. May Janice Freeman rest in peace. We’ll update this story if we learn any new information about what transpired. And we send our condolences to Freeman’s friends and loved ones. Sharing Her Experience Kaufman is a journalist for The Los Angeles Times, who was actually once banned by ABC for her coverage because she uncovered one too many secrets from backstage. In this book, she relies on that experience to shape her narrative, while also conducting interviews with countless staff members. 2. Help from… Heidi Fleiss? Did you know that Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss is cousins with the infamous Hollywood madam, who ran prostituion rings that included clients such as Charlie Sheen? Kaufman writes that Mike learned from his cousin just how hard people would fight for love… or companionship. 3. High on… Ideas “If you go into his office or you were brought in for a meeting, you were probably going to smoke,” ex-production coordinator Brad Isenberg told Kaufman of Mike Fleiss and his penchant for marijuna. Who says stoners are lazy?!? 4. Hatred for Harrison “He was the dullest guy I’ve ever seen,” Fleiss famously said years ago about host Chris Harrison, following their first meeting. It took a second meeting for Fleiss to reverse course… and the rest is rose ceremony history. 5. A Real-Life Affair Kaufman writes about an affair between Fleiss and executive producer Lisa Levenson, with one casting associate saying the flirting between the pair was pretty apparent to everyone on set. (They were both married at the time.) 6. More Real-Life Affairs! And then there was Elan Gale, the current executive producer. Ben & Lauren Season 1 Episode 3 Recap: Chad Is Back!

Chad Johnson just can’t seem to stay away from The Bachelor franchise. He’s the dude who makes every other contestant quake in their boots.  He has no filter and that’s what ultimately led to him being booted off Bachelor in Paradise after allegedly pooping his pants.  Watch Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After? Season 1 Episode 3 Online Yes, he had a whole lot to drink, but it’s somewhat surprising he would ever be allowed anywhere near the franchise again. It’s not like he’s ever going to be able to repair his reputation.  It was the big camping excursion we had been waiting for on Bachelor In Paradise Season 1 Episode 3 and it didn’t quite go the way Ben and Lauren wanted it to.  View Slideshow: 10 Craziest Things Chad Johnson Has Ever Said The camping excursion only came about in the first place because of the intense wedding planning. Seriously, it had nothing to do with the producers wanting more content for the show.  The shocking thing about all of it was that Ben was friends with Chad. As you can probably guess, not everyone was happy that Chad was in attendance on the big trip. To be fair, everyone was probably wondering who he would target first.  Lace made her feelings about the villain pretty clear after she revealed that he was taunting her on Bachelor Live during a commercial break. She claimed her relationship with Grant was in tatters because of him.  He wants to ruin their relationship. When Chad did inevitably stumble onto the camp site, he was anything but apologetic. He knew the only reason he was there was to cause drama and that’s exactly what he was going to do.  Say what you want about Chad, but the dude is a breath of fresh air. He just does not care what anyone has to say to him and that’s part of why he’s so funny.  When Ben and Lauren tried to play peacemaker, Lace let rip about how much Chad has ruined her life, but he was all too happy to reveal that was his plan and he was not over.  When Grant felt the need to bring Chad’s mother up, he revealed that his mother had passed away, before leaving the camp site.  We have no idea whether he’ll return to stir the pot up once again next week, but we’ll need to tune in to find out.  What did you think of the episode? Grace Vanderwaal: What Is She Spending Her $1 Million On?

Grace Vanderwaal is the 12-year-old that the whole world is probably talking about right now.  From the moment she showed up on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, it a super clear that she was a very talented in young girl.  That’s what ultimately sent her all the way to the end of the competition and ultimately winning the whole thing.  She may well be the singer-songwriter that changes the industry.  It’s not very often nowadays that artists as young as Vanderwaal hit it big being a singer-songwriter, but it’s pretty clear she’s just getting started.  She’s been compared to the likes of Taylor Swift and has been praised for her unique voice.  One of the perks of winning talent series is that she will receive $1 million.  That’s a whole lot of money for a young girl, but what does she plan on spending it on? Grace VanderWaal Wins! Vanderwaal wants to give some of her winnings to charity .  That’s a very mature thing to say. Right?! Usually when kids get money, they want to get the latest toys, but not Grace.  A luxury she does want is a treehouse, but aside from that, it seems like she’s pretty grounded in reality and doesn’t want anything extravagant.  The judges were quick to praise Vanderwaal for winning this summer’s edition of the show.  She was up against a lot of talented individuals, but she emerged as the most popular.  Grace VanderWaal – “Clay” Howie Mandel took an early shine to the contestant.  “The most amazing thing about Grace is that you haven’t heard anybody who sounds like her,” he says. “You haven’t heard any lyrics from somebody that is like her, and we’ve been saying to her, you are the most unique, brightest star to come out of one of these shows.” The young star even sent Simon Cowell all the way back 14 years to when Kelly Clarkson won the first season of American Idol.  “That moment at the end, it reminded me of the Kelly Clarkson moment. You know, when they said, ‘And the winner is Kelly Clarkson,’ ” Cowell says. “I kind of had that same feeling again when they read her name out, and I saw her reaction and she was literally in pieces. I like that though.” Grace VanderWaal Lights Up the Sky on America’s Got Talent The rest of the judges had similar sentiments.  Even host, Nick Cannon chimed in with his thoughts on Vanderwaal.  “I’m not going to say I called it, but I’ve been saying that young girl is a superstar since the moment that I met her,” he says. “Her energy. Farrah Abraham: I Don’t Sleep With Black Men, and I’m NOT Sorry For Lying About Rape!

Earlier this week, Farrah Abraham sat for a discussion with podcaster and noted douche-monster Nik Richie. The interview gained attention online due to Farrah’s claim that she’s “surpassed” Kim Kardashian in terms of popularity and general famewhoring (she might be half right). But because we’re committed to  seeing just how deep Ms. Abraham’s idiocy goes, we forced ourselves to listen to the entire podcast, which as it went on began to sound less like an interview and more like Farrah and Richie competing for the title of “Nickelback of Human Beings.” First, Farrah cleared up the little whoopsie that happened last week, when she falsely accused a man of raping her . “I wasn’t raped,” she told Richie. “I felt like I was getting raped…I felt like I almost got raped. You’re violating me by looking at me. Don’t act like a rapist … I have a severe problem with that.”  Ooooooh….she only felt like she was getting raped because she didn’t like the way an Uber driver was looking at her. It’s kinda like how we felt like we were being murdered listening to his podcast.  We almost called 911, but then we remembered there’s a big difference between being the victim of a crime and imagining you’re the victim of a crime. Anyway, it doesn’t get much worse than making light of rape, but Farrah tossed in some casual racism just to remind us how repugnant she can be. While talking about the Farrah Abraham line of sex toys (yes, she’s selling molds of her lady parts), Nic informed Farrah that “there’s no way any black guys can penetrate you.” Classy as always, she replied, “I don’t do that with them .” Yes, that’s Farrah for you. Rod Durham Dies; Extreme Weight Loss Contestant Was 52

Rod Durham, a high school teacher who appeared on Season 4 of ABC’s Extreme Weight Loss, was found dead over the weekend in a Fort Lauderdale motel. He was 52 years old. According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Durham was visiting the area during his school’s spring break. While those close to him have speculated that Durham passed away from diabetic shock, his cause of death remains undetermined at this time. “He always made everyone smile — even if you were having the worst day,” Rocky Hana, Leon County Schools administrator, told the newspaper after learning of Rod’s death. “If you saw Rod, your day got better. “His laugh was simply infectious. … Everyone loved Rod Durham. There are tens of thousands of kids today who are broken-hearted.” Durham rose to reality TV fame in 2014 as a contestant on Extreme Weight Loss. He shed over 180 pounds on the program, standing out for his positive attitude and kindness. Extreme Weight Loss trainer Heidi Powell shared a photo of herself and Durham on Instagram in light of Rod’s death and wrote the following as a caption to it: Heaven just got a lot brighter today when Rod entered the pearly gates. While I am selfishly so sad and completely devastated that I won’t get to see him on earth anymore, I am rejoicing for the spirit he is carrying with him and spreading to everyone up there. Lex McAllister, Former Bachelor Contestant, Dead of Apparent Suicide

Lex McAllister, a contestant on season 14 of The Bachelor – has been found dead. According to TMZ, authorities believe that McAllister took her own life by overdosing on prescription medications. Lex’s family says she suffered from bipolar disorder and depression throughout her life. Early reports indicate that a 911 call was received on Saturday afternoon after McAllister was found unconscious in her home. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where her condition quickly stabilized. Sadly, McAllister reportedly took an unexpected turn for the worse on Sunday, when her organs began to shut down. On Monday, her family made the difficult decision to remove her from life support, and she passed away on Tuesday afternoon. McAllister was featured on one of the show’s most popular seasons, in which Jake Pavelka  served in the title role. Shockingly, she is not the first season 14 cast member to take her own life, as fellow contestant  Gia Allemand committed suicide  in 2013. Following Allemand’s death, Pavelka spoke openly of his shock and grief. There’s no word on whether or not he’s been informed of McAllister’s passing. A successful career woman, McAllister’s Twitter page describes her as a “business development expert, franchise consultant and entrepreneur.” Her family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
