Cassandra Waldon, Groundbreaking Big Brother Contestant, Dead at 56

Very sad news today out of the reality television universe: Cassandra Waldon, a memorable CBS personality who became the first-ever Big Brother contestant to enter the house on the U.S. version of this program, has been killed. She was 56 years old. According to TMZ, the outlet that broke this sad piece of news, Waldon passed away on September 25 from injuries related to a car accident in Rome. A source at the United Nations — where Cassandra worked — tells the celebrity gossip website that the ex-reality star struck by a vehicle about two months ago, suffering a head injury in the process. Tragically, she never regained consciousness before her death. The standout former Big Brother contestant is now being remembered and mourned by those who knew who well. And those who remember her run way back in the day. Host Julie Chen, for instance, wrote the following on Instagram: “Thank you for bringing your intelligence, warmth and wisdom to the Big Brother house Season 1.” In the end, Weldon finished sixth out of 10 houseguests. In the history of the U.S. version of Big Brother, no contestant who entered the home first has ever come out on top. The same actually holds true for the Canadian version. Prior to her passing, Weldon worked at the UN as its Director of Communications for the International Fund for Agricultural Development. She was living and working in Rome when the crash took place. Fans of Big Brother are also speaking out on social media about this tragedy. “Sad news, Cassandra Waldon of Big Brother 1 passed away last month,” one fan wrote, adding: “She worked at the U.N. at the time she was on the show, and was well-liked by her roomies and viewers alike.” Added another: “Such a shame… She was my favorite contestant on season one. She was so thoughtful and smart.” Added Chen in her tribute: “Your light will continue to shine in this world because of the way you lived your life: with class and grace… You are in my thoughts and in my prayers. May God Bless your soul.” TMZ reports that told her funeral will be held next weekend in her home state of Maryland. May she rest in peace. She served on Bed, Bath & Beyond’s Board of Directors prior to being named interim CEO and hopes to drive change within the company. She has an infatuation with science and at a young age would immerse herself in documentaries about nature. Before entering her teens, she already began studying advanced biology. Aware of her intelligence and accelerated learning pace, her parents decided that it would be best for her to start high school at the age of 10. Wilson, who was homeschooled, attended a private school founded by her father called Wilson Academy. Outside of her academics she was involved in several extracurricular activities; serving as the head of the rotary club and robotics team and playing soccer and running track. With the support of her loved ones and school community, she excelled in the classroom and beyond and received an acceptance letter from Spelman at the age of 13. Wilson—who is staying true to her love for STEM and plans on majoring in biology—is beyond excited to continue her academic journey at the Atlanta-based institution. She reportedly has wanted to go to Spelman since she was 8-years-old. “I am so excited to be in the sisterhood. So many women have reached out to me and have been very nice and supportive, and I am so excited to see what my life will be at Spelman,” she said in a statement. She told KTVU that she wants to come up with cures for human illnesses through the use of animal science. Her parents are beyond excited about her accomplishment. She graduated on May 18 as co-valedictorian of her high school class. Back in 2015, the then Vice President assured us that he will not be seeking the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination. He once stated in a news conference, “Mr. President, thank you for lending me the Rose Garden for a minute. As my family and I have worked through the grieving process, I’ve said all along that it may very well be that that process closes the window on a campaign for president. I have concluded that it has closed.” But my oh my how things have changed in a matter of four years. After watching the country essentially crap thanks to a Head Of State who pretty much doesn;t know WTF he’s doing, Uncle Joe decided to step up to help truly make America greater than it was before. On Thursday, Biden announced his decision to run for president for a third time with a campaign video that pretty much shut down the Internet. He even classily threw some shots at current President Trump and how he failed to handle many of brutal attacks by White Supremacists in the past four years. “He said there were quote some very fine people on both sides. With those words, the President of the United States assigned a moral equivalence between those spreading hate and those with the courage to stand against it. And in that moment, I knew the threat to this nation was unlike any I had ever seen in my lifetime.” Biden added that the 2020 race is a “battle for the soul of this nation.” “The core values of this nation, our standing in the world, our very democracy, everything that has made America, America, is at stake. That’s why today I’m announcing my candidacy for President of the United States.” Even during his days as VP, Joe Biden has carried himself more Presidential than Trump and many other hopeful in the upcoming election — and with that comes a bunch of haters. After Biden’s announcement on Thursday, Trump tweeted: “Welcome to the race Sleepy Joe. I only hope you have the intelligence, long in doubt, to wage a successful primary campaign. Cohen pled guilty to eight federal crimes back in August, including tax evasion, and one count of lying to Congress in November—and now, he’s reportedly headed back to court to accuse the president of crimes while in office. From Rawstory : “The former Trump Organization attorney will reveal to the House Oversight Committee some of the president’s private financial statements and accuse Trump of manipulating the value of his net worth for business and personal reasons, such as avoiding taxes on his property, reported the  Wall Street Journal . The financial statements were created by the president’s accountant, and Cohen is expected to testify that he personally witnessed ‘lies, racism and cheating’ by Trump.” Additionally, Rawstory reports Cohen is expected to describe “racist remarks Trump made to him, such as questioning the intelligence of black Americans and criticizing their lifestyles.” Cohen’s testimony is expected to specifically provide evidence of Trump’s criminal conduct since taking office as president, although “a source told the newspaper only that the testimony would cover a hush money payment to Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels.” Stay tuned as we continue with updates.

Over the past couple days multiple immigrant women who worked at the Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey have come forward claiming that they were undocumented at the time of employment and that Trump and his golf course management knew it. In a bombshell interview from the NY Times , an undocumented Guatemalan woman named Victorina Morales claimed that she has worked without legal status as a housekeeper at the club for the past five years, which has empowered many other workers like her to speak up and tell their story as well. One of the women goes as far as to say that she was allowed to submit fraudulent documents by the employee who interviewed her for the job. Ms. Morales said she has been hurt by Mr. Trump’s public comments since he became president, including equating Latin American immigrants with “violent criminals”. This coupled with abusive comments from a supervisor at work about her intelligence and immigration status, made her feel that she could no longer keep silent.
