Charlie Sheen Says, Don’t Worry Guys, I Can Totally Handle My Hookers And Blow

Sending text messages to Radar editor Dylan Howard, Charlie Sheen has broken his silence just as he “voluntarily” heads into drug rehab. And for a guy that had to have emergency hospitalization after days of non-stop cocaine use, Charlie’s certainly putting on a sunny face.

Is There an Emoticon For Sponsor Love?

Because if there were, Movieline would be loading up a post full of them aimed at Fox Searchlight’s 127 Hours — our valiant sponsor, and your weekend viewing. At the very least, click on one of their ads. It’s the least we can all do to keep the lights on around here. Thanks, Searchlight!

BREAKING: Someone Has Taken Mel Gibson’s Beaver Hostage

The Beaver , Jodie Foster’s upcoming film which could salvage the image of its controversy-prone lead Mel Gibson, was supposed to premiere this spring at SXSW but a pirated version could be coming to you much sooner. Summit Entertainment sent a DVD copy of the final cut to Gibson’s home last night and after viewing, Gibson put the DVD in his mailbox so that a courier could return it to Summit. When the courier arrived, though, the DVD was gone. Please contact the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department if you have any information on this theft. [ TMZ ]

Comedy Meets Tragedy in Shut Up Little Man! An Audio Misadventure

There’s something hilarious about eavesdropping on an argument between strangers, but if you learn enough about the people involved, you stop laughing and maybe start feeling sorry for those people. And that’s the arc of Shut Up Little Man! An Audio Misadventure , which explores the 1990s underground comedy phenomenon and explores the all-too-human side of it.

Black Swan’s Special Effects Revealed to be Often Hilarious

American Idol Top 3 Auditions: Hail to the Intern!

Just how possible is it to like the audition rounds of American Idol ? 35%? Or so? Less? They’re such unending trials of schmaltz, nerves, and cruelty, packing none of the torch-song determination of the competitive weeks. American Idol ‘s supposed to make us say, “I want to live ” and not “I want to cry for the rate of idiocy in the heartland.” Oh, Milwaukee. The tryouts in Wisconsin’s most beer-friendly city were fine, but only these three auditions (including a young lady I will soon call Harmonic-a Lewinsky) made the evening worth our cheeseheaded devotion.

Jay-Z and Will Smith Officially Discussing Annie Remake for Willow Smith

The definition of irony for Wednesday, Jan. 26: The idea of Willow Smith singing “It’s a Hard Knock Life” on the big screen. What was rumored last week has now become more official: Jay-Z has teamed with Overbrook Entertainment (read: Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith) for a joint venture that will develop television and film properties. First up: An Annie remake at Sony Entertainment with Smith’s daughter Willow in the lead role. “The time is right to bring back Annie to the big screen,” said Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad in a statement. “Of course, we’re true believers in Willow’s talent and believe she will be perfect in this role.” Maybe, but I imagine it will be hard for her to whip that Annie-approved perm .

Parks and Recreation’s Chris Pratt on the Hilarious Third Season and the Surprise of Rob Lowe

It was good to be an American last week. After all, not only did Parks and Recreation return to NBC after eight months on the shelf, but people actually watched — the season three premiere was Parks and Recreation ‘s highest rated episode yet. That was great news for everyone, but especially Chris Pratt. As you may have noticed, the premiere featured an extended “previously on” clip package to open the show, highlighting the unrequited love between Pratt’s Andy and Aubrey Plaza’s April. He’s rapidly becoming Pawnee’s answer to Jim Halpert, with 100 percent more flannel.

Fox Searchlight Acquires Aptly-Titled Another Earth

One more Sundance acquisition to start the morning: Fox Searchlight will be bringing Mike Cahill’s low-budget sci-fi film Another Earth to theaters. Starring co-writer Brit Marling, the film involves a promising MIT student who kills a talented composer’s family in a car crash the same night that a duplicate version of earth is discovered orbiting the sun. So yes, it’s not just some letdown-metaphor title! No release date on this one yet. [ Deadline ]
