Django Unchained Shut Down in China For Unknown Reasons

We all know Quentin Tarantino can’t seem to escape controversy. But in China? Today was supposed to be the Chinese opening day for Tarantino’s latest film,  Django Unchained . But before the film could make a splash, Django Unchained  was pulled from theaters all across China ! The film importing company responsible for bringing  Djang o to China said the shutdown was due to unspecified technical issues, according to Movie Fanatic. Django  was met with some backlash, as well as a bunch of critical acclaim and awards, after its release on Christmas of last year. Could the excessive violence and coarse language be to blame for the shutdown? The film apparently passed the Chinese censors, and had been advertised for weeks. But if you read through some  Django Unchained quotes , you might find a couple things the Chinese government objected to.

What The Hell? Michigan Janitor Convicted For Holding Four West African Boys As His Slaves!

Slavery in America? Yup, you read that right, slavery is still on and poppin’ in Michigan although authorities are trying their best to crack down on human trafficking. A West African man living in the state was actually convicted this week for enslaving and abusing four young men from his native Togo this week. Via TheGrio : On Tuesday, a federal jury convicted a former janitor at the University of Michigan of enslaving and abusing four West African boys. He held the boys in his home for five years and pretended that they were his own children. Jean-Claude Kodjo Toviave, a native of the West African nation of Togo, could face up to 20 years in prison after being convicted on four counts of forced labor. Toviave, 42, was originally arrested in May 2011 after three of the boys reported the abuse to counselors at a middle school. Toviave, whose sentencing is set for Feb. 6, smuggled the four boys into the country from Togo by using fake passports with false names and birth dates. Claiming the boys were his own biological children, he went as far as enrolling the three youngest – ages 21, 20, and 15 – in a public middle school. During the trial, the boys testified that Toviave regularly beat them with broomsticks, a toilet plunger, sticks, ice scrapers, and cell phone chargers if they failed to obey orders to do their house chores – which included cooking, housecleaning, ironing his suits, shining his shoes, washing and vacuuming his car, and cleaning one of his friends’ houses. Toviave also starved and sleep-deprived them as punishment. In February, Toviave pled guilty to mail fraud and harboring illegal aliens in connection with bringing the four boys to the United States. Human trafficking, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, ranks just behind drug trafficking for most profitable criminal industries, with children accounting for half of all victims. Michigan, specifically Metro Detroit, has become one of the prime areas for human trafficking. The state instituted its first human trafficking laws in 2006 and Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette expanded them in 2011. The changes included stiffer penalties for sex trafficking, involving minors in sex acts, and forced enslavement. “In Michigan, we have seen victims in the Upper Peninsula, in Detroit, and in rural areas,” said Bridgette Carr, an Assistant Professor of Law and Director of the Human Trafficking Clinic at the University of Michigan Law School. “We haven’t found a community yet that we haven’t seen a victim come from.” “So, what I often tell people is: ‘Find a community that doesn’t have a drug problem, and I can talk about perhaps your community doesn’t have a human trafficking problem.’ That’s how prevalent it is.” That isht cray! We gotta ask how a 21-year-old and 20-year-old got away with going to middle school. Shouldn’t somebody have noticed they were big as hell for some so called tweens? Oh and is 20 years a good enough payment for what he did to these four men’s lives???

‘Hunger Games’ Star Josh Hutcherson Returns to ‘Low-Key’ Life

‘I haven’t changed at all,’ 19-year-old actor tells MTV News of his life post-‘Hunger Games.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Josh Hutcherson Photo: FilmMagic Ever since “The Hunger Games” toppled the box office earlier this year, one would think that Josh Hutcherson would find it hard to go about the life he led before the film. As it turns out, not much has changed for the laid-back 19-year-old. While there has been a lot of pandemonium around the movie, the actor himself has been mostly left alone by fans of the franchise. And he’s totally cool with it. “I’ve changed a lot. I wear nothing but high-end designer suits. I fly private everywhere,” he joked to MTV News about his superstar status. “I haven’t changed at all. “I was expecting it to be a huge difference and it hasn’t been, and I can’t tell you how relieved that I am,” he added. “It’s been so low-key and people who do recognize me have been awesome, cool and not crazy.” With all the hype that has surrounded the film, Hutcherson had certain expectations for how his life would change. “I did for sure [think it would be different]. Everybody was telling me ‘It’s gonna be crazy.’ I go everywhere all the time and nobody stops me,” he said. “I’m good with what I have.” One thing Hutcherson doesn’t seem to want to give up is his love for getting inked. “The last one I got was six months ago. I have like an anchor ship creation on my back; it’s like an old sailor Jerry tattoo kind of thing. I love that old, traditional style,” he said. Hutcherson said he’d love to get more ink, but before he gets any full-body tattoos like Angelina Jolie, he wants to make sure it won’t interfere with his acting. “I need to have the kind of career Angelina Jolie has first,” he said. “They’re not gonna hire guys covered in tattoos. I need to make sure they hire me first.” Well, Hutcherson has some downtime until he hits the set of “Catching Fire” later this summer if he wants to squeeze one more tattoo in. In late summer he will work with director Francis Lawrence for the first time on the “Hunger Games” sequel. Related Videos MTV Rough Cut: Josh Hutcherson Related Photos ‘Hunger Games’ Cast Hits NYC

Moonrise Kingdom Cast Gathers For Frowny ‘Vintage Team Photo’

You’ve seen the trailer . You’ve parsed the poster . Now study in the stern countenances awaiting you in Moonrise Kingdom , Wes Anderson’s Cannes-opening reverie for which a new “vintage team photo” is making the rounds. To my knowledge, this is the first and probably only time we’ll get Anderson’s ensemble — including Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, Edward Norton and the young campers of New Penzance Island — in one place before the film hits theaters next month. Except for Tilda Swinton, I guess; “Social Services” just gets a picture frame. And Snoopy R.I.P.? Nooo! Whatever. It’s better Photoshop than this . [Click for bigger; via Focus Features] Follow S.T. Diddy Looking For Comedies After ‘Get Him To The Greek’

‘I really fell in love with making people laugh,’ he says at Golden Globes. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Diddy Photo: MTV News While his turn as a hilariously foul-mouthed record executive in “Get Him to the Greek” didn’t earn Diddy a Golden Globe nomination, there’s no doubting that the multitalented star delivered one of the year’s most satisfying — and surprising — scene-stealing comedic performances. Who knew the guy was so freaking funny? Well, his co-stars certainly did. “We were saying Diddy’s kind of the McLovin of ‘Get Him to the Greek,’ ” Jonah Hill told MTV News before the film’s release. “You don’t know what he’s going to do. Every time he breathes in the movie, it garners a huge laugh.” Hollywood comedy guru Judd Apatow , who produced the flick, said, “He was riotously funny. As a man with one skill, I was annoyed that he was also funny. You shouldn’t be allowed to be good at so many things.” Hill and Apatow weren’t kidding. And as it turned out, moviegoers weren’t the only ones digging Diddy’s comedic stylings: Diddy himself was a pretty big fan too. That’s why he’ll be looking to find his way into more laughers in the future. “I’ve done a lot of drama mostly my whole career, with Broadway and ‘Monster’s Ball’ and stuff like that — my short little career. But when I did ‘Get Him to the Greek,’ I really fell in love with making people laugh,” he told us on the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday (January 16). “I have a knack for improvisation, and hopefully I’ll be able to make people laugh more.” We’ve got the Golden Globes covered! Stick with MTV News for photos, videos, fashion and up-to-the-minute details from the awards show.
