Celebrity Cribs: Take A Look Inside NFL Legend Jerry Rice’s $10.5 Million, 6-Bedroom, California Mansion [Photos]

Must be nice… A Gallery Of Photos Of Jerry Rice’s California Home Via Realtor San Francisco 49ers great Jerry Rice has re-listed his Hall of Fame home in Atherton, CA. The prolific wide receiver, considered by many to be the greatest NFL player of all-time, has had the 13,908-square-foot estate on and off the market since mid-2009 and now asks $10.5 million for the luxe property. Built in 2001 by Lencioni Construction, the three-story French chateau-style design features a total of six bedroom suites, seven full baths and three half baths, and a wealth of modern conveniences befitting a perennial All-Pro. Of its amenities (which range from a state-of-the-art movie theater to a game room to a full bar and wine room) nothing stands out more than Rice’s personal training facility. Those who followed the more intimate details of Rice’s career are well aware of the wideout’s epic conditioning program, a training regimen that included daily runs up the Bay Area trail gauntlet known simply as ‘The Hill’. So it comes as no surprise to learn that the Niners great’s home gym comes fully stocked with over $500,000 worth of weights and training equipment, a sauna, and a steam room complete with cold-plunge. “That has been the most important part of the house for me,” Jerry told Haute Living in a 2001 interview. “If I’m up late and can’t sleep, I can just trot downstairs for a workout and then relax in the sauna or rejuvenate with the cold plunge. I love it for privacy reasons, too. I love being able to get into my workout without having to consider the social aspects of going out to a gym.” Rounding out Rice’s grand, 1.2-acre abode are such backyard luxuries as a pool, spa, covered veranda with a stone fireplace, a dog kennel, and, finally, an additional guest quarters with a kitchenette and full bath. Classy guy, with a classy crib, check out the pics after the flip. Images via Realtor

Race Matters: Exit Poll Shows That Blacks Are Increasingly Favorable Toward Gay Marriage, Are You???

Do tell… Polls Show That Blacks Are More In Favor Of Gay Marriage According to Christian Post Recent polls show increasing support for same-sex marriage among blacks. A national exit poll by Edison Research shows that black voters favored their state legalizing gay marriage, 51 to 41 percent. Pew polls have also showed an increase from 36 percent in 2011 to 44 percent last month supporting gay marriage. According to the exit poll conducted by Edison Research on behalf of the NEP, 51 percent of black voters said their states should legally recognize same-sex marriage, compared with 47 percent of whites who favored this idea. It’s a big shift considering that in 2011, the Pew Research Center found that only 36 percent of blacks favored legalizing gay marriage, compared with 49 percent of whites supporting it. A Pew survey found last month that long-standing racial differences in attitudes toward gay marriage were narrowing. Consistently over the past decade, blacks have been far less supportive of legalizing gay marriage than whites. But the latest survey found blacks divided more evenly on this issue than in the past, with 44 percent in favor and 39 percent opposed to allowing gay marriage. Among whites, 49 percent favored and 41 percent opposed same-sex marriage. Says the NAACP: The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the nation’s oldest African-American civil rights group, voted in May to support a resolution endorsing same-sex marriage at its board meeting in Miami, Fla. “The mission of the NAACP has always been to ensure political, social and economic equality of all people,” Roslyn M. Brock, chairman of the Board of Directors of the NAACP, said in a statement. “We have and will oppose efforts to codify discrimination into law.” Benjamin Todd Jealous, president and CEO of the NAACP, said in a statement, “Civil marriage is a civil right and a matter of civil law. The NAACP’s support for marriage equality is deeply rooted in the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution and equal protection of all people. The well-funded right wing organizations who are attempting to split our communities are no friend to civil rights, and they will not succeed.” Pow! Sounds like the Association is down to make sure that Michael and Matthew can get married and divorced like everyone else in the country. Do YOU support gay marriage? Why or why not? Keith Olbermann Thinks NAACP Resolution Against Tea Party ‘Was Kind of Mild’

Keith Olbermann on Wednesday said the recently adopted resolution by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People condemning alleged racism within the Tea Party “was kind of mild.” Speaking with NAACP President Ben Jealous on MSNBC’s “Countdown,” Olbermann asked, “Do you think that what you passed was actually kind of moderate?” With a straight face, Olbermann continued, “Because it struck me that, that one of the points that you emphasized was that the Tea Party is, is not a racist movement, but is merely tolerating racism and bigotry by its, by its members.” Still with a straight face, “I thought that was kind of mild” (video follows with commentary): KEITH OLBERMANN: Do you, do you think that what you passed was actually kind of moderate? Because it struck me that, that one of the points that you emphasized was that the Tea Party is, is not a racist movement, but is merely tolerating racism and bigotry by its, by its members. I thought that was kind of mild.  Kind of mild? Well, although the NAACP isn’t actually going to release a full text of the resolution until October, this is the press release from the organization: NAACP DELEGATES UNANIMOUSLY PASS TEA PARTY AMENDMENT NATION’S OLDEST AND LARGEST CIVIL RIGHTS GROUPS ASK TEA PARTY TO REPUDIATE RACIST FACTIONS (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Over 2,000 NAACP delegates today unanimously passed a resolution-as amended-called “The Tea Party Movement,” asking for the repudiation of racist Tea Party leaders. The resolution condemns the bigoted elements within the Tea Party and asks for them to be repudiated. The NAACP delegates presented this resolution for debate and passage after a year of vitriolic Tea Party demonstrations during which participants used racial slurs and images. In March, members of the Congressional Black Caucus were accosted by Tea Party demonstrators and called racial epithets. Civil rights icon John Lewis was spit on, while Congressman Emanuel Cleaver was called the “N” word and openly gay Congressman Barney Frank was called an ugly anti-gay slur. “We take no issue with the Tea Party movement. We believe in freedom of assembly and people raising their voices in a democracy. What we take issue with is the Tea Party’s continued tolerance for bigotry and bigoted statements. The time has come for them to accept the responsibility that comes with influence and make clear there is no place for racism & anti-Semitism, homophobia and other forms of bigotry in their movement,” stated NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. “Last night after my speech, I was approached by an African American member of the NAACP and the Tea Party. He thanked me for speaking out because he has begun to feel uncomfortable in the Tea Party and wants to ensure there will always be space for him in both organizations. I assured him there will always be a place for him in the NAACP. Dick Armey and the leadership of the Tea Party need to do the same.” The resolution was amended during the debate to specifically ask the Tea Party itself to repudiate the racist elements and activities of the Tea Party. It comes on the heels of NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous’ announcement of the “One Nation, Working Together” Movement culminating with a national march on Washington on 10-2-10. The resolution will now go to the NAACP National Board of Directors for a full vote when they meet in October 2010 in Baltimore, MD. A formal copy of the resolution will be released at that time. Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. Its members throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities, conducting voter mobilization and monitoring equal opportunity in the public and private sectors. For the record, that’s what a shill like Olbermann believes is mild. Any questions?

Open Thread: NAACP Praises Former Klansman, Opponent of CRA, VRA

In the organization’s defense, someone obviously misinformed its leadership on the late Sen. Robert Byrd’s staunchly anti-civil rights voting record . On Monday the organization released a statement from NAACP President and Chief Executive Benjamin Todd Jealous claiming that Byrd’s life “reflects the transformative power of this nation.” Jealous goes on to say that Byrd, who once asserted that it was an affront to dignity to ask white men to serve alongside blacks during World War II, “went from being an active member of the KKK to a being a stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, and many other pieces of seminal legislation that advanced the civil rights and liberties of our country.” A stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act? Not only did Byrd vote against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, he filibustered it for almost three months. He also opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Thoughts?
