MRC-TV: Bozell on Fox Biz Discussing NYT Columnists Attacking Obama From the Left

“Has the mainstream media — which turns left — have they abandoned the president on his economic policies?” Stuart Varney asked NewsBusters Publisher Brent Bozell in a brief interview held shortly after 10 a.m. today. The Media Research Center founder answered in the affirmative, noting that staunch liberals in the mainstream media think Obama is too conservative on his spending plans: BRENT BOZELL: It’s the columnists, particularly for the New York Times. It’s the four horsemen of the apocalypse from the Times. It’s Paul Krugman, it’s Frank Rich, it’s Maureen Dowd, it’s that crowd, they are out to get Obama now. Not from the right, from the left. STUART VARNEY: Yeah. I mean Bob Herbert, I think it was just yesterday, talking about the failure of the president’s policy. Missed opportunity. He wants another trillion dollar stimulus program. So does Paul Krugman. To watch the full interview, watch the embedded video above at right.

MRC-TV: The June 24 ‘Media Mash’ on Hannity

“The media, for like five seconds, those with thrill up and down their legs, they were a little critical of the Anointed One and what was one of the worst speeches in the Oval Office… but as soon as he fired McChrystal and hired Petraeus, they went nuts,” Sean Hannity observed last night at the beginning of his recurring “Media Mash” segment with NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell. The Fox News host then rolled a montage compiled by Media Research Center (MRC) analyst Kyle Drennen which showed the mainstream media hailing Obama as “brilliant” for the personnel move. After the montage, Bozell noted that the same media that proclaimed Obama sacking McChrystal as “brilliant” were claiming that the president really had no choice but to fire the Afghanistan commander. “If he had no choice, then it really wasn’t really altogether all that brilliant,” the MRC president observed. Bozell and Hannity also discussed  the media’s double standard in bashing BP CEO Tony Hayward — who had been relieved of duty for overseeing the cleanup operation — for yachting over the weekend, while ignoring President Obama’s weekend golfing excursion and MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski admitting she was parroting White House talking points to defend the administration’s handling of the ongoing crisis. MRC-TV: Bozell Discusses Helen Thomas on ‘Hannity,’ Recent Primaries on ‘Fox & Friends’

If you ask the media, George W. Bush is to blame for everything from the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill to Al and Tipper Gore’s broken marriage. What’s more, the media are insisting, it’s Democrat Hillary Clinton who deserves praise for paving the way for Republican women having success on Tuesday’s primaries, not Sarah Palin. That’s just skimming the surface of the loopy stuff the liberal media have churned out recently and which NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell was brought on last night’s “Hannity” to address. Also discussed on the June 10 “Media Mash” segment, the media’s sensitive treatment of disgraced columnist Helen Thomas, who abruptly “retired” following a controversy regarding her suggestion that Israelis should “get the hell out of Palestine” and go back to Germany and Poland [MP3 audio available here ; WMV video for download here ]: BRENT BOZELL: If I were Helen Thomas, I wonder, what is she more offended by, conservatives who call her a socialist and a radical, or her liberal friends who’ve all gone on national television to say she’s senile? And if it is true that she is that senile, what was she doing in the White House all these years? Here’s a woman who has spent decades with this anti-Semitic vicious vitriol that she spews out. And here they are all marching behind her.  SEAN HANNITY: You guys also picked this up years ago, because there were other things that she had said. BOZELL: And she’s the grande dame of journalism. This is a woman, I think it’s time for her to go fishing. This morning, the Media Research Center president also appeared on “Fox & Friends” to discuss the strangest story to come out of the primary season thus far: Alvin Greene, South Carolina Democrats’ nominee for Senate who’s facing criminal lewd conduct [MP3 audio of the segment here ; WMV video of the segment here ]: BRIAN KILMEADE: There was a problem with this Alvin Greene and some charges about him that are unsavory. Brent, can you imagine if this was a Republican? BOZELL: Well, if it were a Republican,  it would be on the news every single night. Now, this is going to be news just because there’s some head-scratching going on [about how Greene even won the Democratic nomination]. And I think what’s also been happening here, it shows the lack of resources that the media have today. You know, once upon a time, everybody had a thousand reporters out there in the field and they knew the stories that were happening. There really was an oversight on this, because people aren’t, there aren’t boots on the ground covering these stories. But they’re not seeing this tsunami that’s growing out there. And I’ll tell you something else —   KILMEADE: What do you mean by that? BOZELL: They’re not seeing this Tea Party explosion.  They’re not reading it correctly. They’re not understanding just how big it is and how independent it is.

WaPo Says World Cup’s ‘Most Essential Accessory’ Is Condoms

Thursday’s Washington Post Express tabloid carried the headline “Health Activists Eye World Cup.” When the world “health” breaks in before “activist,” sadly, you can often define that as a sly euphemism you could replace more accurately with “sex.” Post reporter Liz Clarke offered an interesting definition of the tournament’s most essential accessory, which isn’t cleats or Gatorade or even sunscreen:  Slathered in face paint, toting samba drums and waving national flags, the world’s most ardent soccer fans are streaming into South Africa for the 2010 World Cup. And they’re being met by a host of reminders not to forget the tournament’s most essential accessory: a condom. She forwarded how AIDS activists pressured FIFA, the World Cup organizers, of being “half-hearted” in condom promotion, and noted Cape Town hoteliers are offering condoms with the slogan “Play It Safe in Cape Town.” Then Clarke offered an  update. FIFA bowed to the sexual entitlement mentality: free condoms have now been offered in eight-packs for women (do they each have a day of the week inscribed?) Cases of condoms (bundled in packets of eight) were prominently displayed and free for the taking in the women’s restrooms at Soccer Stadium for Friday’s World Cup stadium, evidence of FIFA’s awareness of and commitment to the need to confront the epidemic of HIV/AIDS in the host nation. The “Choice” brand condoms were provided by South Africa’s Department of Health, and the packaging included a toll-free number for the AIDS Hotline, as well as a six-panel illustration of proper use and disposal.
