Last month, Angelina Jolie ugly cried as she dropped off her first (& low-key favorite) child Maddox Jolie-Pitt at college in South Korea . Days ago, Britney Spears’ doctor abruptly died — just weeks before the court hears vital testimony about her psychiatric treatments. When we reported this, we also mentioned that Jamie Spears may lose his conservatorship after allegations of child abuse. Well, it’s now official. Jamie no longer wields tyrannical control over his daughter’s life. But for how long? TMZ reports that Jamie Spears is currently out as Britney’s conservator, but that he didn’t exactly go kicking and screaming. Last week, he filed papers asking to be temporarily relieved of the responsibilites, citing “medical reasons.” (We’ll unpack that nonsense in a moment) Britney’s new, temporary conservator is Jodi Montgomery, as we previously reported would likely be the case. Jamie had handpicked her for the role. She will have to fill his shoes until January 20, 2020 — at least. On Monday, Jamie officially stepped down and the court granted Jodi those responsibilities. No one seemed to have any issues with or objections to Jodi’s appointment. The real drama is bound to come up with the court-ordered evaluator delivers a report upon Britney’s medical and psychiatric care. This report comes after three months of total immersion in the case. The judge’s aim is to determine whether Britney’s care is adequate and appropriate. It’s all part of the discussion, of course, as to whether the conservatorship remains necessary. Dr. Timothy Benson died suddenly of an aneurysm in late August. He was ultimately responsible for a great deal of Britney’s care. Normally, he works with athletic titans in the NFL and NBA to help them be their best. Some wondered if he was the right person for Britney. After Britney’s 30-day stint at a mental health facility earlier this year, many questioned both her treatment and the conservatorship. In addition to millions of fans crying “Free Brithey!,” he mother, Lynne, for the first time publicly displayed an interest in her daughter’s conservatorship. This evaluation is a big deal for Britney. If the evaluator determines — and reports to the judge — that Britney’s treatment wasn’t right, that could open a lot of doors. Lynne Spears or even Britney’s baby daddy, Kevin Federline, could launch a challenge to prevent Jamie from ever taking charge again. Earlier this year, Lynne was already questioning Britney’s treatment. She even spoke openly and publicly on social media about what she perceived to be suspicious manipulations of Britney’s social media. Now, Jamie was critically ill earlier this year, which may be why he is citing “health reasons” for stepping back from the conservatorship. But it’s only been about a week since it became public knowledge that he allegedly assaulted his grandson, 13-year-old Sean Preston. While the LAPD investigates the accusation of child-abuse that Kevin Federline filed, Jamie cannot be around his grandsons (thankfully!). Britney has already agreed to reduced custody time with her beloved sons just so that they can spend more time safe from their grandfather. But Jamie obviously cannot act as Britney’s conservator, responsible for her sons’ well-beings, if he is not permitted to be around them. The folks at US Weekly magazine obtained a police report that detailed the incident between 61-year-old Jamie Spears and 13-year-old Sean Preston last month. Sean and his younger brother Jayden James, 12, were visiting their grandfather at his condo in California when he allegedly got into an argument with Spears. He reportedly “felt unsafe” and locked himself in a room but Spears managed to break in and allegedly “shook” the boy, a law enforcement source told the magazine. Following the fight Britney took the boys from the house and dropped them off with Federline. The next day, K-Fed filed for a domestic violence restraining order against Jamie that forbade him from all contact with the boys according to NYDailyNews . “Kevin wants to assure that Britney has the most reasonable custody with the kids that is consistent with their best interests,” Federline’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan said on Tuesday. “The kids love their mother, and Kevin doesn’t want to do anything that would be inconsistent with that,” he said. Her 30-day stint in a mental wellness facility left fans with unanswered questions, and now Britney’s court case is drawing more and more attention. Maybe she decided it was time for a change — because her new look is unrecognizable. An Instagram account by the name of Britney Spears 2000s has shared a snap of Britney Spears that has fans going wild. The sneak snapshot (really, it looks like someone took the photo while pretending to text, right?) shows the legendary singer out in public. But there’s something majorly different about the unparalleled superstar’s appearance. She has been blonde for years and years — to the point where it’s part of how people identify and portray her. Now, she’s gone full brunette and the difference is dramatic. See for yourself: As you can see, the woman strongly believed to be Britney is seated in a restaurant. She is wearing a pair of dark sunglasses along with a white blouse. Now, it is possible — given the glasses — that she is doing her best to obfuscate her appearance to avoid being ambushed by fans. (If you see your favorite celeb clearly not wanting to be recognized, be cool. Say “hi” or whatever as you walk past but keep walking, buddy ) If so, her brunette hair may be a tasteful wig designed to make people less likely to recognize her. On the other hand, let’s talk about Britney’s hair and the major symbolic role that it has played in her life. Famously, Britney once shaved her head. It was intensely dramatic and many people thought that it marked the end of her career. The truth is much more complicated. Britney would later explain that every time that she left, even to buy groceries, her team would insist upon fixing her hair to be picture-perfect. (Which makes sense, as reports say that they were also guaranteeing that TMZ would be there to photograph Britney, no matter how mundane her activities.) In order to reclaim a measure of independence and control over her own body, Britney shaved her head herself. It marked her freedom. Why is this valuable history lesson relevant to her going brunette, possibly with just an Alias wig? Because Britney is currently battling her own father in court as she petitions for greater freedoms. Jamie Spears has wielded his conservatorship over Britney — a conservatorship that was originally supposed to last only a weekend — for 11 long years. Earlier this year, even Britney’s mom, Lynn, took an interest in checking if Jamie is really deciding what’s best for their daughter. Britney is an adult woman and a first-rate mom who can make her own choices in life. So, has Britney altered her hair in a symbolic push for independence from her controlling father who micromanages all of her affairs? It’s certainly possible. She’s gone “dark” before, such as during the Blackout era. (If you measure moments in your adult life by silly things like “years” or “life milestones” instead of Britney eras, don’t even talk to me) That would be a much less drastic but still fairly obvious deviation from the image that so many people have constructed of her. But, for the moment, Britney hasn’t uploaded any photos or videos with brown hair. Nor have there been confirmed sightings of her as a brunette. Bachelor in Paradise did not save the drama for its mama on Monday night’s Season 6 premiere. Instead, it saved the drama almost entirely for Blake Horstmann, the runner-up on Becca Kufrin’s edition of The Bachelorette , and the two women with whom he hooked up last night. Before we delve into that drunken chaos, a quick refresher: This summer’s crop of horny contestants includes: Colton Underwood’s finalists Tayshia and Hannah G. A villain from Hannah Brown’s very recent season, Cam. Her former suitor John Paul Jones. Veteran franchise member Chris Bukowski. And other Paradise veterans such Bibiana, Wills, Annaliese and Derek, who’d gotten engaged on Bachelor in Paradise season 4. While they were hoping to start something brand new and exciting in Vallarta, Nayarit, one participant said she needed to figure out the feelings she had in an existing relationship. That would be Demi, also from Colton’s season, who revealed in a pre-beach talk with Hannah B. that she had “kind of been seeing someone.” “Plot twist, it happens to be a woman,” Demi said on air, adding: “It’s not something that I need to label, so I feel like I don’t have to proclaim that I am gay, I am straight, I am bisexual, I am this. I just like who I like. It doesn’t matter who or what you are, it’s the person.” Demi added that this woman was “amazing,” but that she is not in an exclusive relationship. So bring on the hook-ups, people! Men and women! Once she hit that warm and inviting sand, Demi found a connection with 32-year-old Derek — and they ended up kissing in the hot tub, which we’re pretty sure it mandated in the show’s by-laws. “I’m ready to find someone that’s ready to have a relationship, and I’m having fun exploring,” she explained in an on-camera interview. “I’ve had some fun with Derek tonight. He’s a sweet, sweet man and I feel good whenever I’m around him. Derek is a good kisser and I love it. “I do think that Derek’s sexy. I’m having a lot of fun but I’m definitely trying to take it one day at a time right now.” As for Blake? He was trying to take it one woman at a time… … and not always succeeding. “Blake and I talked for a few months and it was really great, but he played me and that sucked,” Caelynn, 23, told host Chris Harrison of her ex, adding: “It wasn’t fun. I really did struggle and he hurt me. So if he is here, I just want to clear it up and I’m hopeful that Blake will man up.” Horstmann immediately ran away once he saw Caelynn descend the stairs. “Blake sucks,” she continued, as many of the other female contestant expressed interest in going on a date with the handsome 30-year-old. “All of the girls are saying what a great guy he is, and I’m sitting there like, you guys don’t even know who this guy is. We were seeing each other, I was pretty sure it was exclusive. “He’s done some really horrible things to me. So now I’m not interested in him. He’s made it clear he’s not interested in me. I’m a mistake. He’s never apologized, and that’s hurtful.” Naturally, Blake received the first date card, promptly asking out Tayshia. As they went off for their evening together, Caelynn opened up to bartender and former Bachelorette contestant Wells. “I thought he was a great guy and then we really had something,” she told Wells of Blake. “We talked about skipping Paradise and coming out with us, and then he ghosted me. Just like fully stopped communication and now I’m here. F-cking first date. And then we saw each other at a music festival. “He ended up sweet-talking me and we spent the night together. And we wake up and I’m in his bed and he’s DMing Hannah G. I’m still in his bed, he’s talking about how hot Tayshia is. “I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Like no dude, that’s not okay. And then he was like, ‘I just want to let you know I hooked up with Kristina [Schulman, from Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor] the night before.’” She went on to say that Blake told her the two of them had to keep their old romance a secret in Mexico. Like I was like, I actually see something with this guy. And everyone last night is like, he’s the king of Paradise. Everyone wants to date him. I was like, guys, he’s so good at twisting things. Very smooth… “He treats girls like scum.” Kristina then arrived… with a date card of her own. And she asked out Blake! “Me and Kristina were hanging out maybe like six or seven months ago,” Blake told the other men. “It started as a friendship and then it moved into something more. But whether it was the timing or whatnot, but we decided to stay friends and we have been. We’ve still like honestly, we talk. “We’re still there for each other for certain things. Honestly, we’ve been very open with each other. It ended very mutually.” Kristina didn’t see it the same way, however. “I know what happened with him and Caelynn. I honestly thought he would have a little more respect for me, so knowing that he spent the night with her kinda hurt my feelings,” she said. “That’s a slap in the face to me, and I will not let myself be f–ked over again. So today, I’m going to make Blake my bitch.” Cue an evil laugh… and the conclusion of the episode… and the start of yet another season of this franchise where the ladies are here to hold men accountable for bad behavior. We hope that’s the case, at least.
… and she’s back! On Monday night’s brand new episode of Teen Mom OG, Mackenzie McKee made her return to the franchise that made her semi-famous all those years ago as a cast member on Teen Mom 3. And she wasted no time stirring up the sort of controversy that Bristol Palin, who McKee has basically replaced, could never bring to the series table. After filling viewers in on the major changes in her life — such as her relationship troubles with husband Josh and the health status of her mother, Angie Douthit, who has been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer — Mackenzie jumped right back into the swing of things. By which we mean the following: She accused Josh of cheating! McKee explained on air how she’s struggling to keep up with her children while they were home for the summer. Moreover, since rodeo season was approaching (meaning Josh will be on the road for long stretches of time), the reality star was unsure how to handle all these kids and keep up with work. And then the real drama kicked in… After Josh left to compete in a rodeo, Mackenzie received a text from a woman who alleged that her husband went out to a bar and cheated on her — and Josh was with him at the time. Because their romance had been solid for awhile, Mackenzie had no idea how to react to this claim. But she chose to be direct. When Josh arrived home, she grilled him about this supposed night out without her. What happened? Did he cheat on her?!? “There was no affection or anything like that there,” he said. “I’m just here to tell you that I was at a bar, and I’d like you to trust me when I’m getting a few drinks at a bar . . . I was just avoiding the fight, and I was wrong.” Josh tried to reassure his concerned wife that he’d never go behind her back by being with another woman — but McKee didn’t seem convinced, especially once Josh said he couldn’t promise he’d always tell her where he was going. (Editor’s Note: What the heck, dude?!?) Fromt here, Mackenzie went to see her parents to discuss the situation, getting an update from her mom in the process. It turns out that doctors wanted to start Angie on a new type of chemo, yet she wasn’t sure she wanted to go through with it. Why the heck not?!? “I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that only God can heal me,” Angie said, continuing as follows: “The only reason I’m continuing with all these treatments is, yes, I want to live, but it’s for you guys. I don’t want you to think, ‘Mom gave up. Mom quit. Mom stopped.’ I’m not gonna do that.” We really can’t imagine going through anything like this. “I just want to see you get better. That’s all I want, and if it doesn’t happen I’m gonna get really mad,” Mackenzie said through tears. She added: “It’s like all my siblings were this perfect cup of glass and I was a cup of glass that was shattered, and you were the glue that was holding it all together.
