Below Deck Star Breaks Silence on Son’s Tragic Death

Lee Rosbach has spoken out for the first time about every parent’s worst nightmare. The Below Deck star has given an interview in which he discusses  the death of his son, Joshua . As reported in July, the ship captain and reality star lost this child to an accidental overdose just a few months ago. And, as you might obviously expect, Rosbach is still dealing with unimaginable pain in regard to the tragedy. “I deal with it every day. I hate going to sleep, and I hate waking up. There’s a hole there that can’t be filled,” the Below Deck star told the New York Post’s Page Six on Saturday, October 12. He continued, holding nothing back: “And the person who said, ‘time heals all wounds,’ is full of it. It doesn’t. The only thing that time may do for you is allow you to learn the skills you need to cope with the situation that you’re dealing with. “As parents, you’re not designed to bury your children.” Joshua battled addiction for over 20 years prior to his passing. He was found dead this summer at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lee, horrifically, was the person who found his son’s body. “I walked in and he was sitting on the sofa with his head in his hands, and I thought he had just passed out. I felt relieved. I thought he was fine,” Lee told the publication , adding: “Then I went over to give him a hug, and he was cold. He’d gone.” Just incomprehensible all around. Despite his son’s aforementioned substance abuse issues, the reality TV personality added that he thought Josh was doing well before his untimely passing. “He had a DUI conviction about 12 or 13 years ago that he finally got off his record. He’d got himself a car. He was working,” said Rosbach. “We thought we might have hit a milestone.” Lee went on to note how he and his family (the captain has four other children) aren’t alone; thousands of people are lost to drug addiction every year. He plans to help fight the opioid epidemic, but is still searching for the right opportunity: “I don’t want to start something, then not be able to finish it,” Rosbach says. Joshua had been off painkillers and heroin for about six months when he died. Medical examiners told the family that Josh had relapsed and bought pills that appeared to be prescription opioids … but were in fact counterfeits, laced with five different substances including cocaine, heroin and the incredibly powerful, lethal drug Fentanyl. “There’s a lot of guilt that comes with something like this. What if I’d gone over to his house sooner? What if I’d done this? What if I’d done that? I should have made his life easier,” Lee said. “So you carry around a tremendous amount of guilt. And then you have to stop and realize that you can’t prevent the inevitable.” We send our very best wishes to Lee Rosbach and his loved ones. Robert Forster Dies; Veteran Actor Was 78 Years Old

Robert Forster, the beloved actor whose career enjoyed an unexpected revival after he starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown, died of brain cancer at his home in Los Angeles on Friday. He was 78 years old. The sad news was confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by Forster’s publicist. Forster’s passing came just hours after his final performance, as he played a role in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which was released on Netflix on October 11. The veteran star also made a final appearance in Last Man Standing last year, portraying the father of Tim Allen’s character. “A truly gifted actor and one of the loveliest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. RIP Robert,” wrote Last Man Standing actress Nancy Travis on Twitter Friday in response to the sad development. Forster appeared on 10 episodes of this ABC sitcom. Still, he was best known for his work on the big screen. He made his film debut opposite Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor in John Huston’s Reflections in a Golden Eye (1967) and then received rave reviews as an ethically challenged cameraman in Haskell Wexler’s ultra-realistic Medium Cool (1969). Forster was a successful box office draw for over a decade — but his career than took a dip. By the early 1990s, the actor was down to supporting roles in such low-budget efforts as Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence, Body Chemistry 3: Point of Seduction and Scanner Cop II… while supplementing his income with speaking engagements. Until Tarantino entered the picture, that is. In 1997, Tarantino directed Forster to an Oscar-nominated performance in Jackie Brown. Filmmaker David Lynch later cast him as a detective in Mulholland Drive —  and Forster would go on to work with Lynch again in 2017, playing Sheriff Frank Truman in Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival. “I went 21 months without a job. I had four kids, I took any job I could get,” Forster told the Chicago Tribune in 2018, adding: “My career went like this for five years and then like that for 27. “Every time it reached a lower level I thought I could tolerate, it dropped some more, and then some more. Near the end I had no agent, no manager, no lawyer, no nothing. I was taking whatever fell through the cracks.” Forster’s other credits over the recent years have included Firewall, Me, Myself and Irene, Lucky Number Slevin and Olympus Has Fallen. Forster said that when his career was at its lowest ebb, he had what he called an “epiphany.” “It was the simple one,” he said, “when you realize, ‘You know what? You’re not dead yet, Bob. You can win it in the late innings. You’ve still got the late innings, but you can’t quit. Never quit.'” He is survived by his third wife, Evie, and children Elizabeth, Katherine, Maeghen and Robert. May Robert Forster rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

Tekashi69 Signs $10 Million Record Deal From Behind Bars

We’ve got to hand it to Tekashi 69. Many celebrities have been imprisoned over the years, but very few have managed to remain this relevant while serving their sentences. Of course, that relevance is likely to get Tekashi stabbed the second he walks out of protective custody, but hey — bad press is better than no press, right? Actually, whoever came up with that saying probably would have agreed to the addendum “unless that bad press is likely to get you straight-up murdered.” Anyway, as you’ve probably heard, Tekashi recently took the stand and testified against two members of his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. As their name indicates, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods are not a group that you want to piss off, but Tekashi — real name, Daniel Hernandez — likely felt that he had little choice. When Hernandez was arrested for a laundry list of crimes last year, it initially looked as though he might remain behind bars for the rest of his life. But thanks to his testimony — which led to the convictions of Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack  — Mr. 69 could be a free man as early as next month. When he first started snitching, it was widely assumed that Tekashi would enter witness protection upon his release. Now, however, it seems the rapper has no intention of disappearing. In fact, he’s reportedly planning on becoming more famous than ever. According to TMZ, Tekashi has already sold the movie rights  for his tory to fellow hip hop artist 50 Cent. And that’s not the only wheeling and dealing Hernandez did from his cell this week. Multiple outlets have now confirmed that Tekashi has signed a deal with his old record label, 10K Projects, that’s reportedly worth more $10 million. While the exact terms of the agreement are under wraps, insiders claim the 69 has promised several projects to the label and plans to get to work immediately upon his release. Obviously, the guy has a lot to celebrate these days. But he has also many reasons to be fearful. Even if he’s safe from violent retaliation, as he clearly believes, Tekashi’s career might be over as a result of his decision to turn state’s witness. After all, credibility is king in the world of hip hop, and it seems unlikely that the record-buying public will rush to embrace a known snitch.

The Beef Between The NBA & China, Explained

Source: HECTOR RETAMAL / Getty The NBA was shoring up what looked to be a fruitful union with China, but now tension between the sports league and the communist nation looks to be growing by the day. After Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted in support of Hong Kong protestors, he set off a flurry of debate regarding free speech and the price of going into business with an entity known for its rigidness. To explain the rift in full, back on October 4, Daryl Morey tweeted out support of the Hong Kong protestors who are combating an extradition bill and other restrictions that infringe on the civil rights of those living in the semi-autonomous region. This tweet came just ahead of the Los Angles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets on the schedule to play in China this week. NBA commissioner Adami Silver offered not one, but two statements to satisfy China’s concerns around Morey’s tweet. Silver did say that he would not find Morey in contempt and won’t limit free speech in the league. Morey’s tweet, which has since been deleted, angered Chinese leaders to the point of upending a potential windfall of money. China’s state-run CCTV has since suspended all NBA pre-season games after issuing a statement. “We’ve noticed NBA commissioner Adam Silver’s response to the inappropriate remarks by Houston Rockets GM Morey. We are strongly unsatisfied and opposed to Adam Silver’s claim of supporting Morey’s rights of having freedom of speech,” CCTV5, a sports channel, said Tuesday on its social media page. “We think any remarks that challenge national sovereignty and social stability are outside the category of freedom of speech.” The Rockets were one of the more popular teams in China, due in part to the team drafting now-retired star Yao Ming number one overall in 2002. Yao, now the chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association, has not made any public comments about the rift despite his history with the Rockets and the NBA. The fallout from Morey’s tweet has been substantial, with community events, ticket sales getting halted, and Chinese celebrities shouting down the Rockets and the NBA in the process. The league, which enjoys a strong following due to the aforementioned Yao’s time with Houston, also has a $1.5 billion deal to stream games with the Tencent media company, with the service blacklisting Rockets games. Further, the CBA is no longer collaborating with the Houston Rockets. Despite the apologies from Silver and from Rockets superstar James Harden, China does not appear satisfied with the team’s effort for repairing the issue. Several Chinese fans were also ousted from pre-season games featuring the Washington Wizards and the Philadelphia 76ers for holding fans that read “Free Hong Kong.” Additionally, a bipartisan group of lawmakers has urged the NBA to pull out of China, including the hosting of a training facility in Xinjiang, where it is thought that around a million Chinese minorities, the Turkic Uyghurs, are being held in so-called “re-education camps.” To underscore the seriousness of things, a CNN reporter attempted to ask Rockets players James Harden and Russell Westbrook if they will continue speaking out on social issues, most especially in the light of Morey’s Hong Kong utterance. An NBA spokesperson shut down the questioning promptly. #NEW : CNN reporter Christina Macfarlane ( @chrissymacCNN ) is quickly shut down by the Houston Rockets' media officer as she tries to ask a question about the NBA's ongoing standoff with China. pic.twitter.com/FP6jgBHUwu — Alex Salvi (@alexsalvinews) October 10, 2019 — Photo: Getty

Gucci Is Trying To Make House Arrest Fashionable And People Aren’t Having It

The rest is here:

Source: Estrop / Getty Gucci can’t seem to keep to themselves out of trouble. The brand most recently was in trouble for a sweater that resembled Black face and now they are in the hot seat again. Whew chile, where is Dapper Dan ?! Alessandro Michele, the Creative Director for Gucci, presented his Spring 2020 collection in Milan and while the clothes were well received, a certain accessory, less so. An anklet went down the runway but it wasn’t just any anklet. The anklet features “golden bullets” which are actually Gucci Beauty lipsticks; however, the design looks more like an ankle monitor or individuals on house arrest. For things to go into production, it often goes through several rounds of approval. The fact that this made it from in house to runway lets me know that there probably weren’t many (if any) Black people who were a part of the decision making process. While Gucci has promised to come up with new diversity and inclusion and even hired an exec for the position, if people of color are not placed in high levels throughout the organization, things like this happen. Gucci has been lucky it has not been damaging to the brand, especially when Black spending power reaches $1.2 trillion dollars. It may be in part because of their close relationship with Dapper Dan and celebrities like Beyoncé; however, for how long will their social currency protect them? Consumers took to Twitter to express their displeasure and confusion from the brand. We rounded up some of our favorite responses. Keep on clicking to see them all. Beauties, we want to know what you think? Was this out of line or an honest mistake? Are you still rocking with Gucci? Sound off in the comment section below.

Wesley Snipes Criticizes ‘New Jack City’ Sequel For ‘Recreating The Drug Culture’

View original post here:

Source: WENN/Avalon / WENN L ast month, it was announced that “New Jack City” would be receiving a remake and now the star of the original movie, Wesley Snipes , has some thoughts. In a talk with Shadow and Act for his new movie with Eddie Murphy , “Dolemite Is My Name”, Snipes was asked about the “New Jack City” project. His response? “I’m not associated with it, you know. I’m have nothing to do with it at all,” he said. When pressed about his specific feelings for the flick, Snipes explained: “I think some things should be left alone…if it worked at the time under the circumstances. And the story was built around things that are current. I don’t particularly like the idea of recreating the drug culture. For what? […] I don’t know. They actually talked to me about doing it and I told them no. If I had a dime for every time I’ve said no. It’s a done deal, it’s a wrap.” The original “New Jack City” premiered in 1991 and it served as Mario Van Peebles ‘ directorial debut. It told the story of New York City drug lord Nino Brown (Snipes) and the detective, Scotty Appleton ( Ice-T ) who goes undercover to plot his downfall. Along with Snipes and Ice-T starring in the movie, Chris Rock, Michael Michele , and Allen Payne also had significant roles. Deadline made the announcement that the flick would be receiving a reboot, although the writer for the movie, Malcolm M. Mays deemed it a “sequel” on Instagram. Along with being a writer, Mays has also had a reoccurring role on the FX drama “Snowfall,” which also explores the inner workings of the drug world only this time, in L.A. where Mays is from. “New Jack City” has had major cultural impact, especially serving as the launching pad for the acting careers of Rock, Payne and Ice-T. Rock was especially memorable to audiences for his dramatic turn as “Pookie” Benny Robinson, a crack addict who eventually becomes a police informant and infiltrates the Cash Money Brothers gang. The flick was made for an estimated $8 million, according to Deadline, and it grossed around $48 million at the domestic box office. Although Mays is set to pen the script for the sequel, there is no director attached yet. Meanwhile, Mays is gearing up to direct and produce the feature film “Flint,” starring John Ortiz and T.I. The movie will follow a converted ex-con who’s found peace in the Tao principles. He finds himself caught up in a murder mystery set upon by his ex-lover and young mentee. His journey plays out in the backdrop of the Flint, MI water crisis and soon connections are made between the protagonist’s mystery and the water crisis afflicting the community where he grew up. Rip Taylor Dies; Beloved Comedian Was 84

Rip Taylor, one of the more flamboyant, colorful and memorable comedians of his generation, died in Beverly Hills on Sunday. He was 84 years old. Taylor’s publicist, Harlan Boll, confirmed this sad piece of news last night, although no cause of death has been confirmed to the public. Early in his career, Taylor realized that the more he exaggerated the gag… the bigger the laugh he drew, thereby overemphasizing everything — from his shaggy blonde toupee and bushy mustache to the zany props that were the basis of his bits. The star’s jokes were delivered with shrieking gusto at nearly all times. He started his career as a stand-up comic in nightclubs and later made his breakthrough with appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. Dubbed the “King of Camp and Confetti” and “The Crying Comedian,” Taylor also rose to popularity due to appearances on “The Merv Griffin Show” and lots of other variety talk shows as a comic in the 1960s. He was famous for dousing his audience with buckets of colored paper, as anyone attending a Rip Taylor performance had to expect to be wearing confetti by the end of the show. Explained Taylor in 2011: “I did props and I was ‘The Prop Comedian.’ I was dying like hell on Merv Griffin’s show. The jokes were dumb, and I tore the 5 by 8 cards, threw them up in the air and it became confetti. “I knocked over his desk, walked up the aisle, went to Sardi’s and said, ‘Well, that’s the end of my television career.’ I went home that night. Their switchboard had lit up. “They said, ‘Get the guy that went crazy!’ And that is how the confetti started.” Taylor also “the $1.98 Beauty Show,” which featured guests compete for the title of the “1.98 Beauty Queen” in a pageant, talent-show format. Aside from these talk show gigs, Taylor ended up in numerous movies and television shows. One of his more memorable big-screen appearances came when he played himself in Wayne’s World 2. At one point, a quest by Wayne to put on WayneStock, the ultimate music festival, garnered stature when Taylor agreed to attend as a special guest. “Rip Taylor’s going to be there,” Mike Myers’ main character told Cassandra Wong in this scene, trying to convince her to perform. “Rip Taylor? He’s a god in my country,” she replies. “He gets mobbed in the street.” Taylor also played parts in The Dukes of Hazzard and all three Jackass movies. On TV, you may remember Rip from such programs as “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters,” “The Brady Bunch Variety Hour,” “Santa Barbara” and other smaller roles along the way. He was the subject of a 2016 documentary, Rip Rip Hooray and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1992. Taylor was briefly married to showgirl Rusty Rowe, but got divorced soon after. He is survived by his longtime partner, Robert Fortney. May Rip Taylor rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam
