Summer Hiatus
After months of nonstop traveling on the campaign trail, and recently on a humanitarian trip with Mom in Southeast Asia, we’re going to take the next two weeks off to prepare for the breakneck pace of the fall election. We’ll be upgrading our website, improving the quality of our videos and photos and installing a few other special surprises that have been requested by many of our readers. In the meantime, we’re going to put in place the number one requested item from our viewers: an RSS feed! In order to activate the feed, please subscribe to the RSS link . We’ll repost all of our entries from last fall through July 27th, when we plan to go back out on the road. Thanks again to everyone for your kind words and support. 99 Days
I want to thank everyone for their patience while I have been off the trail. I have had some health issues that have kept me from getting back out on the road as soon as I would have liked (thanks to a case of bronchitis that I have had trouble shaking). However, rest assured, Shannon, Heather and I will be back in action on Monday, August 4th. In the meantime, it is only 99 days until the election! It has already been a year that I’ve been out on the trail and I can’t wait for the next 99 days. There are some truly incredible things soon to come that I’m anxious to blog about and share with everyone. To my loyal readers, just a few more days and we’ll be back. Ohio
Today, we drove through Ohio on the bus. For anyone who hasn’t been to Ohio in the summer, it is gorgeous and everyone should drive through it if you get the chance. We started the morning at a Bob Evans Restaurant and then headed to a very lively town hall at the Veteran’s Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima. Tomorrow, we head to the annual Iowa State Fair in Des Moines – where we will hopefully see the largest pig in the United States, among other interesting attractions. Then it’s back on the plane, and we’ll end our day in Las Vegas! Song of the Day: “I Will Possess Your Heart” by Death Cab For Cutie

Iowa, Arkansas, and Vegas
On Friday, we traveled to the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines and visited “Freight Train,” the largest pig at the Fair. Freight Train weighs in at a hefty 1,523 lbs.! After viewing some of the exhibits, Dad gave a speech and ate a pork chop on a stick. It was so much fun to walk around and meet supporters. I also wanted to go on some of the rides, but unfortunately we didn’t have time. From there we flew to Arkansas where Dad held a press availability and attended a finance event. After spending a few hours on the plane, we were tired from the long day but played a practical joke on a senior member of the campaign staff. Finally, we landed in Las Vegas – my favorite place to be an insomniac! Dad addressed the 87th Annual Convention of Disabled American Veterans and attended a series of meetings. Then he and I were able to have dinner together on Saturday night. Next up, Pennsylvania and Michigan… Song of the Day/Weekend: “That’s Not My Name” by The Ting Tings

Florida and the Olive Garden
Here are pics from our most recent swing through Florida and our dinner at the Olive Garden in Orlando. Later this week, we’ll have more from Florida and New Mexico . Also, we will be at our cabin in Sedona for a few days (this time without reporters) and promise to share some pics of the family! California Dreamin’
Yesterday I had another book signing in Glendale, California. It was so much fun to meet all of the readers who came to the signing, especially the little kids! Being on a book tour is almost more fun than the campaign trail. I want to thank everyone who has purchased my book and come out to the signings; you’ve made this all possible for me and I’m so grateful for your support. Tonight I am a guest on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. I hope everyone will tune in and watch. The other guests are Ed Harris and GEORGE CLINTON! I can’t wait to meet him; I’m such a big fan!
