Holding

Hi everyone. As I’m sure you have seen, there’s a lot of uncertainty over what we’ll be doing in the next few days. We were so excited to get back on the trail, starting tomorrow. We’re waiting to see what happens along with everyone else. As soon as we know, we’ll fill you in. Another chapter in the “you never know what will happen next” book is unfolding… Song of the Day: “Song from Modern Times” by Charles Chaplin

California and Ohio

After spending a final day in LA, where I was interviewed for the television show “Good Day LA” and attended a finance event with my mom and Todd Palin, we were off to Ohio.  My big surprise is that the campaign is letting me use the Straight Talk Express for a few days in Ohio!  It is so much fun traveling on the bus, but I keep waiting for Dad to walk out from the back and say hi. I’m having a great time meeting young Republicans and visiting campaign headquarters across the country.  I just want to thank everyone for their warm welcome! More to come from Ohio!!! The Traveling Show

With the final debate tonight, I wanted to share some photos of Mom, Dad and Governor Palin on the campaign trail last week. I’ve had so much fun visiting headquarters and doing book signings over the past couple of weeks, but it’s been great joining up with the campaign again. The pace never lets up between take-offs and touchdowns and everything in between. The energy and enthusiasm at the rallies is phenomenal! Be sure to tune in to the debate tonight. We’ll have more posts soon! Song of the Day: “Pump It Up” by Elvis Costello

Throwdown

Some of you may have seen this article linked here . What can I say? Long time readers know how much the people of New Hampshire mean to my dad and our family. So there you have it. If we win New Hampshire and the election, I get a “Live Free or Die” tattoo. It will certainly give everyone a reason to tune in post November 4th! More updates shortly so stay tuned.

Colorado

We had a really busy day in Colorado last week. Our schedule was packed with TV interviews, stops at local HQ offices to thank supporters and even a few book signings were thrown in for good measure. Through it all, it never ceases to amaze me how wonderful everyone has been. I can’t thank you all enough for the work you’re doing to get Dad elected. I know it sometimes seems like an uphill battle, but as anyone who has followed my dad knows, he always loves proving the experts wrong. The best surprise of the day was catching up with Mom at our hotel where she surprised me with this really cute jacket for my birthday. As we head into the final week, stay tuned. There will be some surprising things ahead! Song of the Day: “Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat” by Bob Dylan

Hello Again

I want to thank everyone for being so patient with me and the site. After the election, I didn’t know what to do with the blog because its origin was chronicling my journey with Dad on the campaign. I was uncertain about what my future would be let alone the future of the blog after the election. I am finally now in a place where I am ready to share my life again. And when I mean share, I mean share for real like I used to. No, it will not be as fascinating as it was on the trail, but I can guarantee you it will be fun. So, what I have been doing? After the election things were very hard. People would come up to me when I was grocery shopping as if someone in my family had died. But slowly and surely, with lots of help from my family and incredible friends, I began to feel like myself again. Then, inauguration day came and the rush of disappointment flooded in all over again. The only way I can explain this feeling is a very bad heartbreak. And, like any heartbreak, it takes time to heal. I originally thought I was going to rush back to New York. But while I was home I started decorating my apartment (which had previously consisted of my laptop, bed and shoes) and catching up with friends. I like being able to see my little sister Bridget (who will leave for college in a year) whenever I want. We rescued two kittens from the humane society about a month ago. I named mine “Mouse” and she named hers “Bisqut.” We have become very attached. I also forgot how much I love the desert and how soothing I find the landscape. Being away from home so much last year had made me appreciate it that much more now. New York may still be in my future, but for now home is here. As I announced a month ago, I am working for The Daily Beast (a topical blog founded by Tina Brown) and LOVE it. The people are amazing and I like that there are people I worked with on the campaign that work on the site as well. I am also working on some other really exciting projects I am passionate about and PROMISE to share with everyone as soon as I am able. All I can say is that you won’t be disappointed. In the meantime, I will keep you updated on all the little and big things. I also am going to share things I get asked about all the time. From discount fashion tips to healthy snacks that actually taste good and everything in between. And of course, new playlists! To my readers, thank you for all your support. Viewer Mail Volume 11: Love Connection

Wow! OK, I had no idea my recent article on The Daily Beast ( link here ) would have created such a media blitz. Not sure of it’s just been a slow news week or something else, but I just thought some people would find my experiences interesting. I was not prepared for the enormous amount of interest and response to this article. It’s literally been like being back in the campaign with the amount of traffic we’ve received. Thanks to all of you who took the time to write in some encouraging words. I’m thrilled to hear all the positive playlist feedback! And I’m more than a little embarrassed at all the date offers, too. Here’s a quick sampling of some of the emails I’ve received over the last few days. Thanks again for your support! I will be updating about other developments later this week!

Sleep with the Lights On

What’s Up Everyone? Things are pretty crazy right now. I leave for New York this weekend to do a bunch of media for The Daily Beast . I will be on CBS’s The Early show and Hannity on Tuesday. I will be on Inside Edition and Extra on Wednesday. So everyone tune in! Reminds me of the old days of doing press for the campaign. I still cannot believe the reaction to my recent articles on the “Beast” and I want to thank all of you for keeping tabs on my writings there. Your support means the world to me and I am so very, very grateful. I love writing for them and I highly suggest everyone visit the site. It is the perfect combination of politics, current events and pop culture (and everyone knows how much I love the combination of politics and pop culture). All the people that work for the site are very cool and it is a privilege to be working for Tina Brown. I will be taking pictures and blogging about my little trip to NYC. From there, I head to DC to see my parents and brother, Jack. I’ll be sure to share what’s going on. It is no secret DC has never been my favorite city, but I try and keep an open mind during every trip. I can’t help that I feel very blonde and very “west coast” whenever I visit… Right now, I can not stop listening to this song ” Phenomena ” by the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. It is the song at the end of the movie “The Ruins” which is officially one of the scariest movies I have ever seen! Anyone that wants a good horror movie should rent it immediately. It gave me nightmares for days! And I finally am using Twitter. Anyone that wants to follow me can go to www.twitter.com/mccainblogette . Love, Meghan P.S. I am still trying to figure out what tattoo I should get to commemorate my time on the trail. I feel like I am finally ready to commit to some new ink. So far “McCain” in gothic letters on the back of my neck is winning my unofficial survey. Please write in with any suggestions and I will take pics when I finally chose an artist to ink me up! P.P.S. The title to this post is from the lyrics to “Phenomena”… get it now!

Inner Beauty Part 2

Well, as some of you have seen, I’ve been in a few interesting discussions online and on television regarding weight. For those of you who might have missed it, here’s my recent article over at The Daily Beast and the posting that I made just over a year ago about “Inner Beauty”.

The Colbert Report

Hey everyone! What a crazy four weeks. I love hearing from so many of you via Twitter and I appreciate the kind words of encouragement everyone keeps sending to the site. They all mean so much to me especially while traveling which is all I seem to ever do these days. I had a great time on The Colbert Report last night (picture from their green room is to the right). I was super nervous because I wasn’t quite sure how Stephen’s “character” would behave, but it turned out to be both exhillerating and fun. I even got some shout outs to CC Skye and my friend Val from California. Special thanks to Stephen and his entire staff. They really made me feel so welcome and I appreciate everything they did. I’m always a little surprised to see what the media (and the blogosphere) latch onto after I write an article for The Daily Beast or make an appearance on a show like Colbert. Of course, the current frenzy seems to be all over my “pro-sex” comments a few weeks ago on the Beast. Obviously, the most sensational part of anything is what sells, But I am very happy that these things always bring new viewers and readers into what I’m working on. That’s evidenced by the feedback I get. I’m always encouraged by the positive comments from so many about changing what it means to be a Republican by simply speaking out. Some of you know it can be tough because there’s lots of people who are ready to criticize that message, but I know anything worth fighting for isn’t easy. Thanks always for your support. I’ll be finally getting settled in New York City over the next few weeks and will have more interesting things to report on. In the meantime, enjoy the holiday weekend and hooray for summer!
