Black Eyed Peas, Taylor Swift ‘Feel Horrible’ About Concert Cancellation

The Peas and Swift took to Twitter to apologize to fans after a star-studded NYC charity show was postponed due to bad weather on Thursday. By Jocelyn Vena Black Eyed Peas Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images The weather just didn’t want to cooperate with the Black Eyed Peas, Taylor Swift and the other artists slated to perform in New York’s Central Park on Thursday night at a concert to benefit the Robin Hood Foundation anti-poverty organization. After a number of delays, and before anyone could take the stage, the Concert 4 NYC had been canceled. The show, which had been slated to take place on Central Park’s Great Lawn and was expected to draw an audience of approximately 60,000 fans, initially was just delayed but concert promoters eventually decided to pull the plug on the event as the weather worsened and thunder and rain rolled in, Billboard.com reports. Among the other acts that had been scheduled to perform were Debbie Harry, LL Cool J and Natasha Bedingfield. A rep for the concert has confirmed to MTV News that no new date has been scheduled. In a statement, the Robin Hood Foundation said, “The heat wasn’t going to stop them, the rain wasn’t going to stop them, but the lightning — it stopped them. It came down to safety for everyone. Organizers are hoping to reschedule, so ticket buyers should hold onto their tickets. Robinhood.org will have information in the next week or so.” The artists themselves also have apologized to fans for the cancelation. Swift tweeted, “I was like ‘I get to sing with Fergie in NYC?!’ and then there was rain and lightning and they’re like ‘it’s cancelled’ and I was like [sad emoticon].” The Black Eyed Peas, who reportedly performed an intimate show backstage for fans, also took to Twitter to posted about the nixed concert. “I’m so sad the show got postponed,” will.i.am wrote. “Fergie is really sorry it’s not happening we feel horrible,” Taboo added on his Twitter page. “We are devastated and Fergie told me to tweet this she loves u all … I hope that the concert will be rescheduled ASAP, our pea-ple deserve it, my pea-ple from chase and robinhood deserve this NYC we love u.” Related Artists Black Eyed Peas Taylor Swift

Blake Lively’s Boobies Are Sparkling

Obviously anytime Blake Lively is going to head out on the town in a short little sparkling dress, she’s going to get my attention. Although, the same thing applies to shorts or jeans or tank tops or sundresses or leggings or sweatpants or… Pretty much anything really. I just love this woman and I really think I can get her into bed. all I need are some roses, a handsome cab ride around Central Park and a rag soaked in Chloroform.

Alligator appears in New York City, may have crawled from sewer

AT LEAST one alligator apparently really does live in New York City's sewers with a 46cm 'gator allegedly crawling out of a drain today, delighting onlookers and giving fresh meat to the urban myth that the carnivorous critters are living below the Big Apple. The spectacle began just after 3pm local time, when a passersby spotted the reptile on Newtown Avenue near 29th St, Astoria, Queens and yelled “Crocodile!”, the New York Post reported. One witness said the alligator crawled out of a drain during the afternoon's downpour. Police couldn't verify that the animal crawled from the sewers – a big-city myth that inspired the 1980 B-movie Alligator and others – but were baffled as to where it came from. “It's a big mystery,” said police spokesman Officer James Duffy. “It could have been dumped from a car or it could have come out of a sewer.” The police Emergency Service Unit lassoed the animal and bound its snout with tape. The caged 'gator was kept at the 114th Precinct until it was picked up by Animal Care & Control. A spokesman for animal control said the alligator would be taken to a licensed rehabilitation carer or reptile sanctuary. Crocodiles and alligators have called New York home in the past, most famously in 2001, when the city was captivated by a caiman that eluded authorities in Central Park for a week. In 2003, police caught a 1.2-metre crocodile that was wandering around a Queens park. Some experts have called the city's sewer system a “natural swamp” warm enough to attract 'gators, but few think they could survive for very long. No one has yet claimed the alligator. added by: eden49

Jonas Brothers Fans Set Up ‘Camp Rock’ In Central Park

Diehards descend on Manhattan for group’s second ‘Good Morning America’ appearance of the summer. By Christopher MacAllister Nick Jonas performs on “Good Morning America” Photo: Bryan Bedder/ Getty Images On Friday (August 13), the Jonas Brothers and the cast of Disney’s forthcoming “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” took to the “Good Morning America” stage in Central Park, where they performed a short concert for a crowd filled with rapturous fans. MTV News caught up with a few people who were in the audience for the Jonas Brothers’ second “GMA” appearance this summer , including some fans who arrived as early as 2 a.m. in hopes that they would snag a good spot in the crowd. Two friends, Alie and Rachel, were rhapsodic about the show: “It was the best experience ever, and they sang [their songs] perfectly, and they’re so hot,” said one of them. Their enthusiasm was heightened by the fact that they were close enough to get up close and personal with one of the brothers. “I got to hug Joe,” one said, with the other quickly adding, “And I got to touch his leg! ” Alexa and Jen, who have been to multiple Jonas Brothers concerts, noted that this show was a change from what they were used to seeing. “It was different than what their normal concerts were, but that’s because it’s ‘Good Morning America,’ ” said one. “I liked that it was a lot of the ‘Camp Rock’ [material] with Demi as well.” Many of the fans surveyed couldn’t pick a favorite song from the Jonas Brothers’ set, but some cited “It’s On,” from the “Camp Rock 2” soundtrack, as one of the morning’s highlights. ‘American Idol’ Top 10 Begin ‘Beautiful Day’ With ‘Good Morning America’

Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and company strummed and belted through the rain in Central Park on Friday. By Christopher MacAllister Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox perform on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ on Friday Photo: Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images With their signs and banners eagerly clutched in their hands, fans marched into Central Park to see “American Idol” season-nine winner Lee DeWyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox chat with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos about “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” before two 12-year-old girls competed and a guy who looked like Santa’s older brother competed in an “Idol” trivia quiz. And also to see all of the top 10 Idols perform for the “Good Morning America” Summer Concert Series on Friday (July 9). Crystal was the first one to perform, singing Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart” while strumming her guitar, of course. She did the song justice despite the slight spray of rain. Next up was Lee, again with a guitar, awaiting his time to shine amid the continuing showers. The crowd shouted their love for him, as he responded to their makeshift banners, wishing happy birthdays and anniversaries. Asked about the life-changing experience of winning “Idol,” he said it was “important to remember where you came from” and managed to plug the October release of his upcoming album. He then performed “Treat Her Like a Lady” by the Cornelius Brothers, to which the audience reacted with more enthusiasm and excitement. Then all of the top 10 took the stage and the band began the riff for Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life.” The guys gave their best for the rousing anthem, before the girls took over with “My Life Would Suck Without You” by Kelly Clarkson. The rain seemed to bring down the energy of some, Lee in particular, who almost seemed bored at times. But as all 10 sang the song as an ensemble, they gave it a powerful finish. Before the last song, Lee, Andrew Garcia and Michael Lynche began to beat box and rap for the slightly drenched crowd. But instead of capping off the set with another group performance, Lee went solo for his single, “Beautiful Day” — and fans didn’t seem to mind the irony of the bad weather. Actually, as one fan told MTV News, there more than one reason to consider it a beautiful day. “It was great to see the American Idols on stage together, and the rain was nice, as it has been so hot!” Related Photos ‘American Idol’ Season 9 Finalists Perform On ‘Good Morning America’ American Idol Season Nine Cast Glam Up For Tour

Snow Day: Your Horror Stories Are Welcome [Shut Up, Snow]

It has been snowing since yesterday morning. It is not the Snowpocalypse or Snowmageddon or Snowicane. It is just snow. It happens every year. And it is awesome, glorious, and beautiful. But when it’s done being those things, it sucks. So please quit bitching when it snows, and the news needs to stop making it sound like the end of the world every time a little precipitation descends on us. The only time when white powder is a threat to the public safety is when it is Anthrax in some taped-up, ratty-looking envelope mailed to the mayor’s office. We don’t need to remind you, but you live in New York City, and it snows here. It happens every winter, more than once, and sometimes a lot all at the same time. You’re going to get through it. No one will die (well, almost no one ) and you will not starve sitting in your apartment waiting for the plows to clear the streets so that the FreshDirect boy can whisk your groceries up to your apartment with his muddy boots. The city has pretty much shut down. It’s a real, actual show day . That is great, because it never happens and you should take this respite before the hastened pace of spring takes over with its bike rides, barbecues, and beautiful weather. But the weather right now isn’t so bad. It’s not too cold or windy. The streets look picturesque as the flakes rain down and you can spin in the street, round and round under the flurries, just like Winona Ryder in Edwards Scissorhands with her blonde wig whipping around as her hands lash out and grasp at the falling ice right before the town turns on Edward and everything goes to shit. That’s kind of what happens with snow too. After a few days in the house, you’re going to be sick of your boyfriend/roommate/husband/kids/snoring dog. The Netflix will be finished and all the good snacks eaten. Every time you cross an intersection there will be a deep puddle on the other side. You’ll be stuck wearing crappy outfits because you don’t want to ruin your nice shoes (well, unless you work at GQ ). Some people have it bad already. You can’t get to work, planes have been canceled, the place down the street with the good bagels closed early. Our very own Alex Pareene tried to come into the office today until a group of errant thugs threw him head first into a snow drift! (OK, that didn’t really happen, but he still gave up on the messy sidewalks and the messed-up subway and went back home to work from his couch and fix himself appletinis all day. We’re sure you have plenty of horrible stories to share with us about your commute and shoveling and being stuck. Please, share them in the comments. But you also have lots of fun stories about snowball fights and lying in front of the fire lazily watching the Olympics on TV and that really hot hooker you ordered up from Craigslist who gave you a discount because things aren’t so busy today. Share those, too! Along with pictures and anything else you want. It’s a snow day! The rules are off and we are here for revelry…and bitching.
