Cheerleaders Investigated for Chanting Racial Slurs in Shocking Video

Sometimes, you read something that a celebrity said or did and you say that it kills your faith in humanity … but really, celebrities aren't usually representative of the average person. This story, however, might crush your faith in humanity … and in this next generation of young people. Just a little. Because the heinous video that went viral, which we have below, was made by  teenagers . (Of course, it was also brought to light and condemned by teenagers before anyone else got involved, so … keep that in mind) It is sadly not  new  information that racism is alive and well in the United States of America.  If you were somehow able to ignore that before, the last couple of years have made it truly impossible to miss. Hate crimes have spiked, and we've seen  Nazis marching on American streets  more than once this year. A particularly infamous Nazi, Richard Spencer, is speaking in Florida this afternoon, and everyone in the local community is afraid of what might happen if his supporters show up and go after his protesters. Some worry that, some time tonight, Florida could see its very own Charlottesville. Hopefully not, but the fact that people are worried about it at all tells you a lot about how prevalent and emboldened racists are feeling now in 2017. MWhile many racists — Nazis and others — come to feel that way because they feel marginalized or threatened that other people exist and have decided to blame their own shortcomings on, for example, people of color. Others are taught racism — not just institutional and cultural racism that we all have to unlearn — but explicit, unapologetic racism from a young age. These people tend to grow up thinking that everyone's family “talks like that” behind closed doors. (Then, thinking that everyone thinks and acts the way that they do, they assume that “political correctness” and not  common decency  is responsible for racists getting shamed) We don't know if these girls all learned it at home, but a group of teenage cheerleaders made a very, very disturbing video. A group of Ogden Weber High School cheerleaders appeared to be gleefully chanting a racial slur in a bizarre, soul-crushing video. The Utah school district is investigating after the video surfaced on Twitter and gained a lot of attention. The girls appear to be saying (and we say “appear to” for good reason) “f–k” followed by the N-word. Gleefully, they yell again and again and again into the camera. Yes, they recorded this themselves. It's widely believed that the video is a reversal of what they may have been originally chanting: “Serggin Cuff.” “Serggin Cuff” might sound like the name of a Star Wars character, but unfortunately it's meaning is not nearly so whimsical. Pronounced backwards, “cuff” sounds like “f–k” and “serggin” sounds like the N-word.  While someone could conceivably be tricked into saying or even repeating that word on video, which could then be reversed in order to defame the poor dupe … that wouldn't explain their glee as they chant it. The video was shared privately at first, but then discovered and posted to Twitter by an understandably distraught black Weber High student. Along with the video, he included this message: “I thought people were better than this especially my so called ‘friends.’” Outrageously, he has reportedly been contacted by the families of the girls shouting slurs in the video, who are said to have demanded that he apologize for posting the video. That is … well, that tells you about what sorts of families that at least some of these girls come from, doesn't it? While this video was reportedly recorded some time ago before being circulated around the student body. Lane Findlay, spokesperson for the school district, has spoken about the video. “Right now the focus is on the investigation and trying to answer all the questions that have come up.” Findlay's initial response, mentioning that the video was old and that it had not been recorded on school grounds, did not receive a warm reception. (Schools have never before hesitated to take disciplinary action over events happening off of campus) It sounds like Findlay understands that the public needs assurances. “It’s being taken very seriously. We realize it’s affected many students at the school, but we want to be fair and thorough and ask for everyone’s patience.” While a resolution is expected to be reached early next week, the cheerleaders might receive counseling (which we'd say that they clearly need), removal from the cheerleading squad, or even expulsion. We would say that expulsion is the wrong course. One, they are teenagers and this inexcusable behavior was certainly a  learned  behavior. Two, more importantly, the student who posted the video on Twitter could face reprisals if they are expelled. High school students can be brilliant, but they can also be not brilliant, and they don't always have a great sense of perspective. But these girls definitely need counseling. And it would be very appropriate for them to be removed from the cheerleading squad. How they behave in the next few months could determine whether any colleges or universities will even accept them. Here is the video and be warned: obviously, the language used is absolutely monstrous.

Freaks! Busty Blonde Cheerleading Coach Allegedly Gave “Mouth Hugs” To Underage Indiana High School Basketball Players

She like that young meat A high school cheerleading coach pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged sexual encounter with an Indiana high school basketball player. Megan Crafton, 22, a part-time assistant cheerleading coach in Shelbyville, allegedly admitted to police that she performed “ mouth hugs ” on the 17-year-old boy in her car in a supermarket parking lot in January. But her lawyer claimed after her court appearance Thursday that Crafton didn’t break the law, WISH reported. She’s charged with child seduction, a felony, but in Indiana the age of consent is 16. Authorities counter that they went after her because she works for Shelbyville HIgh School and it’s illegal for adults to have sex with anyone younger than 18 that they supervise or oversee. Crafton’s lawyer asserted that the law doesn’t apply in this case, because as a part-time member of the cheerleading staff, Crafton doesn’t have authority over the teenaged boy. Shelbyville High School officials tipped off police about rumors circulating in the halls that Crafton was involved with a student, Fox News said. Police questioned Crafton about the hanky-panky in February, but only charged her this month. She turned herself in on June 15. The charges carry a potential jail term of three years. Her trial is scheduled for September 24. The victim suffered further harm the following day when his arm was injured from receiving too many high fives. Source

‘Glee’ Star Dianna Agron Talks About What’s Next For Quinn

Tuesday’s episode picks up in the aftermath of a car crash that left fans wondering the fate of Quinn. By Christina Garibaldi Dianna Agron Photo: MTV News The break is finally over for “Glee” fans, who, after a seven-week wait, may finally get their burning questions answered on Tuesday night (April 10). In the closing moments of the February 21 episode, Dianna Agron ‘s character, Quinn, is driving to Rachel and Finn’s wedding when she receives a text message. Her decision to reply resulted in a cringe-worthy crash and left viewers with a shocking cliffhanger . “Well, I knew [the crash] was coming because Ryan [Murphy] called me and said, ‘How do you feel about this?’ ” Agron told MTV News on Monday. “For me, the year after I graduated there were seven teens that died in car-related accidents, it was from drunk driving, texting and speeding … so I did think it was something that was important to be explored and could have an impact on people, so I wasn’t shocked or surprised.” It hasn’t always been easy for Quinn, who gave her baby daughter up for adoption, but it seemed like things were starting to look up for her after she was accepted to Yale and offered her old spot on the cheerleading squad. “I think everybody wants to know what happened because if that’s the last we see of Quinn, it’s very shocking,” Agron said. “But again, I think that the way it turned out to be, I think people will be satisfied with it and hopefully it will resonate with some people.” SPOILERS AHEAD So what happens to Quinn? “Well, they [Fox] released two songs yesterday for the next episode … and that very well might be my voice on those songs, it sounds an awful lot like my voice,” Agron laughed. The actress “has been filming the whole break,” and while she couldn’t give away too many details, she did say that Tuesday’s episode will not pick up exactly where we left off. “It’s not supposed to be the next week, it’s meant to be a couple months later,” she said. “It’s not the immediate aftermath.” Until the finale, “Glee” will chronicle the final days of McKinley’s High’s seniors as they gear up for graduation. “I think it will be fun and interesting for people to keep watching because it’s a lot of our last couple of weeks before graduation and it really explores a lot of that, and those feeling and what that entails,” Agron said. “I just think that everything that one experiences in that time period is what is going on there. For me, it’s nice to know and relive and think about those times.” Yet, what fans really want to know, will we be reliving Finn and Rachel’s wedding? “There’s still a ring!” Agron said Are you excited for the return of “Glee”? ‘Jersey Shore’ Star The Situation Talks Lady Gaga, ‘Dancing With The Stars’

David Hasselhoff is ‘really breaking it down,’ he told Jay Leno when asked about his ‘DWTS’ competition. By Kyle Anderson The Situation on “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday Photo: NBC Two days after hanging out in a hot tub with Chelsea Handler at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards , “Jersey Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino stopped by “The Tonight Show” to chat with host Jay Leno about his experience at the show and his chances on the upcoming season of “Dancing With the Stars.” “It was just awesome to be there,” he told Leno about the VMAs. “I saw Justin Bieber, Drake, Lady Gaga was out there. It was pretty crazy.” When Leno asked about Gaga’s meat dress (which remains one of the most talked-about aspects of the show), the Situation was as confused as many of the people who saw it. “I seen her from afar and I didn’t even know — was it actually meat?” he asked. “I heard it was real, and I was like, ‘No way.’ How long do you think it takes to put together something like that?” As for “Dancing With the Stars,” which kicks off on Monday, the Situation was humble but confident about his chances. “I love a challenge,” he said. “I love the people, I love the camera. But I’ll be honest with you: It’s pretty hard.” As for the competition, he’s most worried about one particular star. “I’ve seen some of the dancers practicing, and if I have to say somebody, I have to say the Hoff,” he told Leno of contestant David Hasselhoff. “He’s really breaking it down.” One fan he won’t have is Jamie Lee Curtis, who was also sitting on “The Tonight Show” couch. “I am the cheerleading captain of Team Jennifer Grey,” she said. “She is going to rock your world.” How do you think the Situation will fare on “Dancing With the Stars”? Olivia Newton-John Will ‘Really Surprise’ ‘Glee’ Fans With ‘Physical’

‘It’s not your mama’s Olivia Newton-John,’ musical producer Adam Anders says. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Audrey Kim Olivia Newton John Photo: Gustavo Caballero/ Getty Images Olivia Newton-John is coming to Sue Sylvester’s (Jane Lynch) rescue on Tuesday’s (May 4) episode of “Glee.” The episode will see the Australian pop singer/actress and the cheerleading coach remake the famous “Physical” video, after a video of Sue jazzercising is leaked. “I totally geeked out when she started singing ‘Physical,’ ” “Glee” musical producer Adam Anders told MTV News about the duet between Newton-John and Lynch. “I was like, ‘What’s happening?’ She sounds exactly the same! But this is a whole new version of it. You’ll be really surprised to hear it. It’s not your mama’s Olivia Newton-John.” Anders also promised that viewers will find the “Grease” star’s appearance in the episode organic. “You can say what you want about it, but this show is real,” he said. “At the heart of it, it’s about real issues, real stories. When the music brings those stories out, it’s really powerful.” Though Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel have already graced the show this season, and Neil Patrick Harris has a guest appearance coming up, Anders maintains that the show’s real star is the music. “The best part of ‘Glee’ is introducing new music to an older generation and old music to a newer generation. There’s so much great music. We all listen to music in a vacuum, then we’re exposed to things and love it. Olivia Newton-John is an example of that. “It’s a perfect marriage between the songs that were chosen and the storyline. When that happens, it moves people,” he continued. “Music, at the end of the day, is all about emotion. When you get that reaction, people are gonna buy it.” Are you excited to see Jane Lynch and Olivia Newton-John get “Physical”? Tell us in the comments!
