And for those who need the refresher, here’s Curry’s awkward goodbye to the “Today Show” Hit the flip for the details about that
According to executive producer Ryan Murphy, American Horror Story Season 7 is set to take on this franchise’s most frightening subject yet. Climate change? ISIS? The prospect of the New England Patriots winning a sixth Super Bowl next year? Nope, nope and nope. Instead, Murphy has said in a couple new interview that American Horror Story Season 7 will tell the tale of… Dona’d J. Trump! YIKES, right?!? The creator of American Horror Story (and Nip/Tuck… and Glee… and upcoming FX series Feud) was a guest last night on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Asked about his plans for the seventh installment of his beloved cable anthology, Murphy said he does not yet have a title for Season 7. But he has a subject matter in mind. “The season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through.” For those somehow unaware, the election to which Murphy is referring pitted Trump against Hillary Clinton. These two long-time public and polarizing figures exchanged pointed barbs throughout 2016, as the wore bore witness to the ugliest President race in U.S. history. It was won, in stunning fashion, by Trump on November 8. Ryan Murphy Previews American Horror Story Season 7 “Wow! That…wow,” Cohen responds to Murphy’s reveal in the above clip, asking: “Will there be a Trump in it?” “Maybe,” Murphy replied. Sounds like another chance for Alec Baldwin to polish his impression! Following the finale of American Horror Story Season 6 in November, FX tweeted a teaser for Season 7, which seemed to allude to a potential nautical theme for the next installment. But we should have known better. These teasers are always vague and weird and don’t really have anything to do with what’s on tap. American Horror Story Season 7 Teaser In another interview this week, Murphy reiterated the theme of Season 7. “It’s very scary and very fun and very…topical,” he told E! News. “Anybody who voted in the last election will very much enjoy what it’s about.” He didn’t reveal many storyline details beyond that preview, simply adding: “Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson are the leads. But they don’t know who they’re playing…It’s a modern story… We just started back in the writers’ room for that.” Past seasons of American Horror Story have centered on witches, weird carnival acts, haunted houses, mental asylums and quasi vampires played by Lady Gaga. But Donald Trump as President?!? Murphy, pictured below on Bravo, truly could not have chosen a scarier topic this time around. The only question here, of course, is whether or not Trump will still be President when Season 7 premieres later this year. Have you seen the latest Donald Trump impeachment odds? They grow stronger every day. American Horry Story, meanwhile, received a rare two-season renewal a few weeks ago, taking it through season 9. At the time, FX CEO John Landgraf said viewers wouldn’t know anything about season 7 until its premiere, much like they did when it came to Season 6. “It actually will be shrouded in super secrecy,” he said at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in January. “Ryan has yet another really innovative idea for how to do something fresh and different with the franchise that audiences haven’t seen before, and there’s a marketing promotional hook around that.” View Slideshow: 13 TV Shows Ending In 2017 We can’t wait to see how the election is tackled by Murphy and company. Until then, we’re totally gonna go back and watch American Horror Story online to see if we can pick up on any clues from past seasons that may inform what we can expect to see this season.
Since Sundance began a week ago, four and a half feet of snow has muffled Park City. The world is white and the festivalgoers are weary. Every Californian has a cold. (Myself included.) I’ve been coming here for years, and the weather’s never been this much of a slog. So the climate is right to… Read more »
After more than a year of bruising campaigning, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton went toe-to-toe for the first time on Monday night. Coming into the first presidential debate of the 2016 election, the Republican and Democratic nominees were in a virtual dead heat. Will this evening’s ratings-shattering event change that? And the Winner is? Hillary Clinton Click Here To Vote for Hillary Donald Trump Click Here To Vote for Donald After more than a year of campaigning, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton went toe-to-toe in the first presidential debate of 2016. Who won it?! View Poll » Suspense, and the stakes, have been building for weeks. In an increasingly competitive and historic election, the anticipation could not be greater and the unpredictability could not be higher. Put that all together and the previous debate record of 45 million viewers ( Obama vs. Romney , 2012) could be doubled. Yes, doubled. Two months from now, the showdown at Hofstra University in New York may go down as a watershed moment in U.S. political history. Can Clinton, the first major party female nominee and one-time heavy favorite now clinging to a narrow lead in many polls, right the ship? The Democrat was widely expected to become the 45th President as recently as July, but Donald J. Trump has thrown a wrench into that. From the moment he announced his bid for the Republican nomination, the reality star and businessman has been a true wild card. No one other than his true believers took him seriously. Trump was written off so many times, and committed so many “this is the end of his campaign” blunders, we lost count. By February. His opponents assumed he’d eventually self-implode. Ask the other 16 Republican candidates who competed against him how that worked out. Clinton, however, represents a much tougher foe. Sucking the oxygen out of a room filled with wannabes is one thing. Can he conquer a one-woman political dynasty one-on-one next? Hillary’s strategy was to knock Trump off balance and force him to stick to facts instead of his trademark vague, outrageous statements. Trump’s was to bring his unconventional, unfettered style to a traditional venue, convincing the American public that he’s up to the job. So who prevailed in this epic tilt? You tell us. The first debate of the 2016 presidential campaign has (finally) come to a close. And it was every bit as ugly as we thought it would be. In fact, it was basically one roundhouse to the temple away from a UFC match. Trump went after Hillary for her email scandal. Hillary went after Trump for his tax returns. And naturally, they both fudged the facts a bit. Okay, more than a bit in some cases. Sadly, Gennifer Flowers was not in attendance to witness it all firsthand. We’ve cross-referenced some of the more hotly-contested claims made by both candidates with the Pulitzer Prize-winning non-partisan website Politifact. So if you disagree with these findings, your beef is with them. Please don’t tear us apart in the comments. Our egos are fragile. Anyway, on to the facts: Clinton claimed that Trump once dismissed climate change as a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese. Politifact says she was absolutely right. Here’s the tweet she was referring to: Trump claimed that Clinton flip-flopped on the TPP trade deal. The Donald spoke the truth on that one. It seems to be one of the ways that Bernie Sanders’ campaign “pushed” Clinton to the left. Clinton’s claim that she voted against the controversial CAFTA deal during her time in the Senate was determined to be truthful. Asked about his persistent refusal to release his tax returns, Trump claimed that financial disclosures are just as revealing. Politifact determined that’s factually inaccurate. Not surprisingly, Trump was more than a little out of his element on issues related to poverty and systemic racism in America. Not only did he repeat the phrase “law & order” more than your grandfather when you switch the channel from TNT. Many pointed out that there was a bit of a disconnect between Trump’s support of stop and frisk and the birther movement and his “braggodocious” claims about his connections to the African-American community. According to Politifact, Clinton was correct in her claim that Trump was charged with housing discrimination and violations of the Civil Rights Act. Clinton was correct in her claims that black Americans are more likely to get arrested and more likely to face longer sentences for the same crimes. Clinton has a big lead amongst minorities, but that doesn’t mean she’s flawless on racial issues. Trump was correct in his claim that Clinton once used the term “superpredators” when referring to gang members. At more than one point, Trump claimed that both Clinton and debate moderator Lester Holt were lying in their claims that he supported the invasion of Iraq. Politifact determined that Trump did indeed support the invasion. One of the more surprising moments of the debate came toward the end of the evening when Clinton cited misogynistic, racist comments that Trump made about a Venezuelan-born actress and former beauty pageant contestant named Alicia Machado. Shockingly, those claims have been verified by several media outlets . View Slideshow: 19 Things Donald Trump Has Actually Said While Running for President As for the moment when Trump said his temperament is his strongest asset “maybe by far.” Well, we didn’t bother to check Politifact on that one.
