A master of nearly every medium in which he worked, Nichols won 9 Tony Awards for his work directing and producing on the Broadway stage, 4 Emmy Awards for his HBO films Angels in America and Wit , 3 BAFTAs, 3 DGA awards, an Oscar and a Golden Globe for directing The Graduate , and a Grammy Award for his comedy album An Evening with Mike Nichols and Elaine May .
