Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea to Perform at 2014 Billboard Music Awards

Sure, Rihanna laughed at Ariana Grande during a recent performance, but that embarrassing incident aside, Ariana has been crushing it career-wise lately and it was announced today that she’ll be performing her hit song “Problem” along with Iggy Azalea at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. Ariana is a natural choice for the show, as “Problem” debuted at number one on Billboard ‘s digital songs chart and is currently number three on the magazine’s Hot 100. The first single from Grande’s forthcoming studio album has been such a success that even a teaser for the “Problem” video became a viral sensation online. Ariana and Iggy join a list of previously announced performers that includes Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and Jason Derulo.  In addition to performing at the show, Ariana is nominated for Top New Artist. No slouch in her own right, Azalea is scheduled to perform her solo hit “Fancy.” The success of that single makes Iggy the first female rapper with two songs concurrently in the Billboard Top 5. Not too shabby. We get the feeling you’ll be hearing a lot of these two this summer. The BBMAs will be held on Sunday, May 18th. Give a listen to Ariana and Iggy’s “Problem” below: Ariana Grande – Problem (ft. Iggy Azalea)

Casey Kasem Removed from Country, Whereabouts Unknown

Casey Kasem, a famous radio personality in declining health, has been removed from the country and his whereabouts are unknown at this time. According to WTAE in Pittsburgh, a judge has ordered an investigation into the location of Kasem after a lawyer for his wife expressed concern over where he was being treated. Kasem, 82, suffers from advanced Parkinson’s disease and has lost the ability to speak. Of late, he has been in various medical facilities chosen by his wife, Jean Kasem, who continues to clash with her stepchildren. They have complained on multiple occasions that they have been barred from seeing their father in accordance with an agreement they had reached with Jean. In October, Kasem’s kids asked a court  for assistance in gaining access to their dad. Earlier today, however, Craig Marcus – an attorney for Jean Kasem – told a judge that he has “no idea” where Kasem is and that he believes Kasem has been taken off U.S. soil, an admission that stunned two of Casey Kasem’s daughters who were at the hearing. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy has appointed a doctor to look into Kasem’s care and ordered a court-appointed lawyer to find out his whereabouts as soon as possible. He also appointed daughter Kerri Kasemher as her father’s temporary caretaker. “We’ve been troubled for a long time,” Kerri Kasem said after Monday’s court hearing. “Justice has been served today.”

Pot Meet Kettle: DWI Attorney Shows Up Drunk For Work In WRONG Courtroom!

DWI Attorney Shows Up Drunk For Work In WRONG Courtroom We guess in order to defend drunk drivers you gotta be one yourself???? Via KRQE: DWI attorney John Higgins is no stranger to the other side of the law. Most recently he’s accused of showing up drunk to work in a courtroom he wasn’t even supposed to be in. Metropolitan Court Judge Julie Altwies found Higgins in alleged direct contempt of court Wednesday morning. In a hearing Thursday, Altwies told attorneys Higgins was in her courtroom for 45 minutes before she called in a probation officer to test his blood alcohol content. His BAC measured .11; the presumed level of intoxication in New Mexico is .08. Sixty-nine year old Higgins had no appearances before Altwies Wednesday, though he did have two scheduled with other judges. “There were two cases that were continued by judges because he was not present,” Altwies said in court Thursday. “The reason the court found him in direct contempt because he did disrupt the proceedings yesterday quite a lot.” This wasn’t Higgins’ first run-in with the law either. He was convicted of aggravated DWI in 2009 , and was sentenced to 48 hours in jail. Then in 2010, he was accused of allegedly hitting his wife with his car – that case was later dismissed. One of Higgins’ attorneys, Tom Clear, told News 13 he believes there may be something medically wrong with his client. SMH. KRQE Continue reading

Judge Denies Bail for Bruce Beresford-Redman

Bruce Beresford-Redman may never be a free man again. The former TV producer and suspected murderer has been denied bail by Los Angeles District Court Judge Susan Segal, who said in court today “I do not believe he can be awarded with bail for the allegations which he has been alleged… Mr. Redman presents a risk of flight.” Beresford-Redman was taken into custody on November 16 and charged with the brutal killing of wife Monica Beresford-Redman. Her body was found in a Cancun sewer on April 8. Bruce’s parents were present in court this afternoon to show support for their son, who arrived in handcuffs and often smiled back at his relatives throughout the hearing.

Dr. Conrad Murray to Keep Medical License For Now; Joe and Katherine Jackson Attend Hearing

A judge ruled that the embattled Dr. Conrad Murray will be allowed to continue to practice medicine in California while awaiting trial on manslaughter charges. On Monday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor declined to grant a request by California authorities to suspend Murray’s license indefinitely. Dr. Murray’s attorneys fought the restriction, arguing that it would prompt authorities in Texas and Nevada, where he also practices, to take similar action. Murray, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the June 25, 2009 death of Michael Jackson, has been ordered not to use anesthetics on patients. The most surprising development Monday was the arrival of Michael Jackson’s parents, Joe and Katherine, who then sat next to each other in the front row. The doc is still in. Who’d be treated by him is another stor y. The Jackson patriarchs didn’t speak to each other much, according to reports, and Joe appeared to have dozed off at one point. Nevertheless, it was a shock. After all, Joe said over the weekend that Katherine Jackson is to blame for Michael’s death, since they were so close and she did not do enough to intervene. Then again, Murray will argue Michael Jackson killed himself , so he’s not the only one finger-pointing. Joe throwing his own wife under the bus, though? Wow. Despicable stuff, but apparently not enough for her to cut him out of her life. Jermaine, Randy, and LaToya Jackson also attended the hearing, reports CNN. Yesterday’s hearing was held only to determine whether Murray could maintain his California medical license, and did not directly concern the criminal case. The judge set August 23, 2010, as the date for the start of Murray’s preliminary hearing to determine if he will stand trial on the manslaughter charge. The prosecutor said that hearing could last a week. Joe Jackson surfaces in court. No new accusations this hour .

Robert "Joe" Halderman Headed to Prison For David Letterman Extortion

David Letterman’s extortionist did the crime, now he’ll do the time. Robert “Joe” Halderman, the former CBS News producer who copped to one count of attempted first-degree larceny, was sentenced today to six months in jail. Money-grubbing mistress of David Boreanaz , take note. Robert Halderman could’ve faced up to 15 years in lockup had the case gone to trial. Instead, his plea deal ensures he’ll serve no more than the half-year term. Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Charles Solomon also gave him four and a half years’ probation and ordered him to perform 1,000 hours of community service. Letterman blackmailer Halderman was snared in a sting operation . The 48 Hours Mystery producer was busted in October for trying to shake down Letterman for $2 million in return for keeping quiet about Dave’s affair with his former intern and Halderman’s then-live-in lover, Stephanie Birkitt . Owing thousands of dollars in child and spousal support to his ex-wife, Halderman approached him under the guise of selling a screenplay … to Dave’s own life. Rather than buying it to keep his liaisons a secret, Letterman blew the whistle, bluntly admitted on the air that he cheated on wife Regina Lasko, and moved on. Halderman’s moving on too … to the big house. Nice work, man!
