It’s unclear, although co-host seems most likely. An insider cites Keibler’s “lack of experience in the music business” as a drawback for making this former WWE Diva a judge, but adds that the beauty “looks fantastic and has bags of charisma.” Would this be enough to cast her as emcee? She would seemingly fit Cowell’s criteria, as Simon told reporters a couple weeks ago: “I always wanted a boy and a girl to host the show. Actors have ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘How to Succeed in Business’ connections but only just met, Radcliffe tells MTV News. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe Photo: MTV News For a while, it was a running joke between Daniel Radcliffe and Darren Criss that the “Harry Potter” star and “A Very Potter Musical” star had yet to meet, even though the two shared a “Potter” connection, celebrity status and Criss succeeded Radcliffe in the hit Broadway revival of “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.” MTV News recently caught up with Radcliffe, and he revealed that, at long last, the two actors finally met just before Criss took over Radcliffe’s role for a limited run. “We have met. I can confirm, we have met,” Radcliffe said with a smile. “Somebody showed me a very doctored photograph of our meeting; there were no photographs at our meeting, so if that’s what people are interested in, they’re going to be disappointed. “But no, I had a lovely chat with him, talked about the show, I don’t really deign to give advice, but I gave him my number and same with Nick Jonas and said, you know, ‘Contact me if you’ve got anything to ask. I’m always around.’ I passed on a joke to him that Matthew Broderick gave to me which Robert Morse gave to Matthew Broderick,” Radcliffe explained of an inside joke shared by Morse and Broderick, who also played the role of J. Pierrepont Finch in “How to Succeed.” “So that’s become sort of a legacy joke now, which is nice.” Criss will only be in the show for three weeks until he has to return to work on “Glee,” after which Jonas will take over January 24 through July 1. Middle Jonas Brother tells MTV News the Big Apple ‘is unlike anywhere in the world.’ By Jocelyn Vena Nick Jonas Photo: MTV News Nick Jonas kicks off his rehearsals for his starring role in “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” this week. The role means that the singer/actor has relocated to the Big Apple for his run in the hit Broadway show. But, Nick is no New York newbie, having previously starred in several other musicals. And, he admits that he’s excited to get back into a New York state of mind. “Favorite thing about New York? I think the fact that it’s all here all on this island — well in Manhattan, at least — and it’s just an amazing city,” he told MTV News. “The energy here is unlike anywhere in the world, and so many creative and talented people in this city and so many people that are passionate about theater and the arts and the things I’m really passionate about. Being around those people inspires me in so many ways. I think it’s one of those places that you have to live in once in your life and I’m blessed to be here.” Jonas will pick up where both “Harry Potter” himself, Daniel Radcliffe, and “Glee” star Darren Criss left off as the show’s very own J. Pierrepont Finch . And in the weeks leading up to his opening night on January 24, Nick plans on not only rehearsing, but also carving out a place for himself in NYC. “I think I’m really looking forward to setting up my world here,” the 19-year-old New Jersey native explained. “I’ve had the opportunity, this last year spending more time in L.A. and being based there primarily, to kind of build a community of friends and have that whole atmosphere. And I hope to do the same here and hopefully have my friends come out and visit me here.” For Nick’s L.A. friends wondering if he’ll have any time for you now that he’s on the East Coast, he’s got this message for you: “I’ve got a guest bedroom, so I’ll be able to have some friends over to stay.”
Pop singer sings ‘Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right’ for Amnesty International anniversary album. But she’s defying her usual topics of interest for human rights organization Amnesty International. The singer is one of the many musicians on the org’s Chimes of Freedom compilation of Bob Dylan’s music, out January 24. When MTV News spoke with K-Dollar Sign last week about her all-star remix of “Sleazy,” she also opened up about switching gears vocally and emotionally for her version of Dylan’s classic “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.” “I mean, I think it’s pretty well known that he’s one of, if not my most, favorite artists of all time and … one of the most amazing lyricists as well — the original storyteller,” she explained. “So I love Bob Dylan and this was just, like, a dream. When they asked me to do a cover, I was just, like, salivating and going through all my records. It was so fun. It was the best homework assignment you could possibly have.” K’s version of Dylan’s song is a slow-burning, heartbreaking ode to the already heartbreaking classic, where she channels Dylan through lyrics like “Still I wish there was somethin’ you would do or say/ To try and make me change my mind and stay/ We never did too much talkin’ anyway/ So don’t think twice, it’s all right.” Ke$ha had originally intended to record another Dylan track, but when she heard that someone else had their sights set on it, she settled on “Don’t Think Twice,” prompting a catharsis she could never have imagined. “This song was kind of an accident. I sat down and this is the first take that I ever sang,” she recalled. “I just sat down on my bed for the first time after months of being on tour and I just started crying, and it was kind of like an emotional purging, and you can hear it on the record.” In addition to Ke$ha and her contribution, the album will feature 75 other Dylan classics recorded by nearly 80 artists including Adele, Miley Cyrus, “Glee” star Darren Criss, My Chemical Romance, Evan Rachel Wood and Sugarland. By Kara Warner Amy Winehouse Photo: Vince Bucci/ Getty Images SAN DIEGO — The news of Amy Winehouse’s tragic death continued to shock the world Saturday (July 23), with many of the 27-year-old’s celebrity fans taking to Twitter and Facebook to express their sadness in learning of the troubled singer’s passing. “Glee” cast members Darren Criss, Jenna Ushkowitz, Harry Shum Jr. and Dot Marie Jones joined in the thousands of Winehouse mourners devastated by the loss. “She’s paved the way for so many artists, so at least every artist can pay homage to her in some way,” Ushkowitz told MTV News at Comic-Con 2011 . “Hopefully they will,” she said, adding, “It’s just so tragic: She was so young and so talented.” Criss said, “She definitely brought back a lot of soul to mainstream, and it’s really unfortunate to see her go, but I think she’ll live on in other artists who will follow [with] the same soul.” Shum Jr. added, “She had a voice that couldn’t be duplicated. It’s a tragedy.” Marie Jones said she hopes more attention is paid to Winehouse’s legacy as an artist than to her personal struggles. “I hope everybody focuses on what she did and did so well and not the tragedy,” she said. “God bless her and her family. She did so much.” “In a short period of time,” Shum Jr. added. “[At age] 27, it’s really sad,” Marie Jones concluded. Though some news outlets are reporting a drug overdose as the suspected cause of Winehouse’s death, autopsy reports aren’t scheduled to be released until Sunday.
