When accepting his award, Boseman called out James Shaw Jr., the hero who averted the Waffle House crisis in Tennessee, and gave him the trophy. CNN reports : “Receiving an award for playing a superhero is amazing, but it’s even greater to acknowledge the heroes that we have in real life,” Boseman said. “So I just want to acknowledge somebody that’s here today. James Shaw Jr. Where are you? Stand. If you don’t know James Shaw Jr., he fought off a gunman in Antioch, Tennessee at a Waffle House. He saved lives. Come on up here.” Shaw then took the stage and Boseman handed him the golden popcorn award, “This is gonna live at your house.” Shaw was grazed by a bullet while grappling with the gunman and burned his right hand grabbing the barrel of the weapon. According to NBCNews , Brown, now 30 after being sentenced to life in prison at age 16, will be 69 years old before she is eligible for parole. Which is insane. “I do pray that you show mercy and that you give me a second chance,” Cyntoia Brown said recently as she sat before a parole board behind the walls of the Tennessee Prison for Women. Cyntoia isn’t just any ol’ murderous inmate. She killed a man who had picked her up as a prostitute and was, in her words, acting in self-defense. During her time in prison, she’s truly rehabilitated herself in the way that prison purports itself to do… “I have a college degree now. I have a family … a whole community of people who love me, who believe in me, who support me,” Brown told the board on May 23. Her lawyers are hoping the court will take notice of recent Supreme Court rulings that deem life sentences without parole to be an unconstitutional sentence for a minor. The system has failed. It’s heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked then when she has the courage to fight back is jailed for life! We have to do better & do what’s right. Ryan Edwards may be a lot of things, but what he is not is ready to be a dad again. In a clip from Teen Mom OG, Edwards joked to his parents that a brother and sister for Bentley, 7 (mom is ex-girlfriend, Maci Bookout). The comment was prompted by a discussion of more kids for the Tennessee native, and how Mr. and Mrs. Edwards didn't see their son “on any kind of path to have more kids right now,” and that they “needed to find” him a woman. “Bentley will be grown before you have another one,” Mrs. Edwards told her son. In his usual doofy tone, Edwards said to his parents, “I could surprise you next week!” Not funny, his mom said. “Oh please don't,” she told him. “We don't want a surprise,” his dad jumped in. “Let's don't do that.” Talk turned to Bookout's October when, and Mrs. Edwards jokingly asked her son if he was going to be the flower boy. “Weddings are so fun to go, as long as they're not your own,” Edwards said. According to Radar Online , Edwards tweeted (then deleted) that he was going to be a dad again. When the site reached out for a comment, Edwards only had this to say when asked if he's having a baby with ex-girlfriend, Shelby Woods. “Hell, no,” was his only response. In other “Ryan Edwards For Human Of The Year” news, the 27-year-old is currently being investigated by authorities for bragging about his violent answer to the overpopulation of cats that were living around his home. “People act like I’m shooting them with a rifle,” he told Radar of the public reaction. “It’s a damn BB gun that just scares them off! “They’re wild animals that destroy things. It’s not against the law to manage your property. “People should know what they’re talking about before they talk.” Not so, according to Edwards' mid-August comments on social media. “I got a full size brown one tonight,” Edwards wrote. “I think I got all the little ones so just the devil black cat is left.” The Humane Educational Society worked with local police to check out Edwards' home after he posted Instagrams, and confirmed that they had enough evidence to determine that Edwards was “luring the animals onto his property to kill them.” Edwards told the authorities that he never killed any of the cats. He was doing it merely to get attention.
