Michelle Obama, Daughters Welcome White House Christmas Tree

The spirit of Christmas is already flowing through the White House. Michelle Obama, daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, and Portuguese water dog Bo welcomed the family’s tree to the historic residence Friday afternoon: The White House Christmas tree is a 19-foot Fraser fir from Peak Farms in Jefferson, N.C. It arrived on a red and green wagon drawn by two Clydesdale horses while the Marine Band played the classic carol “Oh Christmas Tree.” Festive! According to longstanding tradition, the tree will be displayed in the White House’s Blue Room and the First Lady will select and supervise the decorating. She’ll do a fine job, no doubt. After sampling the scent of the tree’s needles, Michelle Obama reportedly gave a thumbs-up and told onlookers, “It’s a go.” On November 6, voters said the same to another four years for the First Couple.

Ryan Phillippe, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi, Drew Barrymore and Vanessa Williams were on hand for the exclusive soiree where tickets ranged in price from $1,500 to $35,800. The party was held in the luxurious modern Westwood, Calif. mansion of Michael S. Smith and James Costos. Smith is a designer who decorated the White House when the Obamas moved in in 2009. He called Michelle a “hero” as he introduced her to the cheering fans. Michelle, dressed in a form-fitting black dress and black sweater, told the crowd of more than 350 guests that her husband was even involved in the decorating of their new home. Good to know that people are still in support of our President despite the antics of those trying to discredit him and tear him down. *side-eyes Lupe Fiasco * via RadarOnline

Kourtney Kardashian New Home

“I think the decorating process is never ending,” Kourtney Kardashian said Friday while celebrating her birthday at the opening of Las Vegas#39;s Gallery Nightclub. “It#39;s so fun. It#39;s like a sick obsession.” And since her actual birthday isn#39;t until Monday, she has yet to receive a gift from her beau, Scott Disick. Woman sues TSA, DHS heads after agent’s "boob" comment

These measures include various checkpoints, 'behaviour pattern analysis,' racial profiling, and discrimination and humiliating treatment of Arabs and blacks with Muslim names, and biometric identification will be rolled out eventually. Adrienne Durso, a resident of California, was selected for an enhanced pat-down after walking through a metal detector at Albuquerque International Sunport airport, according to a lawsuit. Durso, a recent breast cancer survivor, said the TSA security officer forcefully searched the area of her recent mastectomy, leaving her in pain and on the verge of crying. In November, a TSA agent reportedly forced another breast cancer survivor to show her prosthetic breast. Durso's 17-year-old son stood watching as she experienced the pat down. When her son confronted a security supervisor about the incident, asking why his mother had been selected for a pat-down but not him, the supervisor allegedly replied that the son was not selected because “you don't have boobs.” After her experience, Durso joined three other plaintiffs in a lawsuit against Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and TSA administrator John Pistole. One of the other plaintiffs allegedly received “an invasive and aggressive pat-down of his genitals, presumably due to the fact” that he has an enlarged testicle from an injury he experienced. The other two plaintiffs, a mother and her daughter, claim that while at a security checkpoint TSA agents pulled aside the 12-year-old girl and subjected her to a body scan without the consent of her legal guardians. *** This is a game, and here's how TSA and the federal government are playing YOU: You are purposely being conditioned to hate these TSA humiliating and invasive security measures that have been implemented to protect you from fake Al Qaeda. The reason being is that DHS and TSA will eventually propose an alternative to having American citizens being scanned by naked body scanners and sexually assaulted by people who were barely able to make it through high school. That alternative will be for the federal government to adopt security measures that are already in place in Tel Aviv's El Al airport. Just How Unpopular Is President Obama?

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/gallery/2010/12/approval-by-numbers-how-obama-c… http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/images/gallery-presapproval1.jpg Infographic of the Day: Just How Unpopular Is President Obama? The results might surprise you. If you listen to the pundits on cable news — and Fox News especially — then President Barack Obama is reaching theoretically impossible levels of unpopularity, due to his overhaul of health care, the sputtering economy and his bailouts of banks and auto makers. In point of fact, Americans actually like the health care bill, when told what it actually does. And the bailouts of Detroit and Wall Street have had remarkable results. So the issue isn't really about either one. It's the economy, stupid. For proof of that, you need only look at Obama's approval ratings in historical perspective, as Talking Points Memo did. Granted, the man isn't so popular right now — but his unpopularity has some remarkable parallels. In fact, the president whose approval ratings most resemble Obama's is Ronald Reagan. So what was the difference? Reagan, Carter, and Obama all entered office amidst a floundering economy and high unemployment. But with Carter, the economy continued to struggle as he came up for reelection. Not so with Reagan: He had the good fortune to experience a strong bounce-back in job figures right before he came up for reelection. (Whether that was due to Reagan's tax cuts is highly debatable.) It remains to be seen whether the economy will bounce back like that for Obama. Meanwhile, let's take a look at some presidents whose popularity far exceeded Obama's. Take Nixon. Things were great for him — until Watergate, and the great disillusionment with government that followed. But Obama's approval ratings really can't touch Kennedy's, the figure with whom he has often been compared. You could adduce all sorts of reasons why, but it's worth noting that Kennedy was the first true TV President. Never before had America had such a dynamic media figure at the helm, with small kids by his side and a first lady who famously went on national TV to show off her decorating choices. added by: UtopianSky

Sustain: An Eco-Supply Store On The Rocks

It is a tough environment for brick-and-mortar retailers right now. It is tougher still if you are in a niche market, like green bricks, mortar and eco-supplies. It is even tougher if you are in a small town on the Canadian shield like Huntsville, Ontario , which earlier this summer accommodated the G8 but was too small for the G20. I met Jonath… Read the full story on TreeHugger
