When Will It End: Noose Pics Labeled “Back To School Necklaces” Are Displayed In Long Island Middle School

Source: Westend61 / Getty Some Local Residents Are Calling For The Teachers Involved To Be Fired Folks just won’t let go of the racist imagery of the past (and present) whether it’s Black History Month or not. According to New York Daily News , one Long Island middle school joins the list of people making light of hurtful symbols when teachers displayed a photo collage that included a picture of two nooses labeled “back to school necklaces.” Text reading “Ha ha” and “#Yes” were beside the noose pics. It all went down at Roosevelt Middle School where most of the students are people of color. Many parents and other officials were outraged by the imagery. “I was very upset about it. I mean, if they feel that way then they’re in the wrong school district,” Yvette Hudson of Roosevelt said to  News12 Long Island . According to the office of the Hempstead Town Supervisors, 45 percent of Roosevelt Middle Schools’s students are Black while 55 percent are Hispanic or Latino as of the 2017-2018 school year. Some people of Hempstead tried to actually defend the actions of the teachers involved.  “That may not be what they’re trying to say,” Savitri Lekhram said. “It’s probably just a joke, it probably has nothing to do with African-Americans or anything. But at the same time they can still draw that connection.” The Roosevelt School district  issued a brief statement calling the situation a “personnel matter,” and they couldn’t comment further on specifics. They did say, however, “The Roosevelt School District is aware of the inappropriate conduct at the Roosevelt Middle School. The Board of Education was made aware of this incident on Thursday, February 7, 2019, an investigation was immediately initiated, and appropriate action taken. The Board of Education has zero tolerance for the display of racially offensive images.” One local pastor wasn’t satisfied with this statement however, and he wants the teachers involved to be fired. Arthur Mackey Jr. of Mount Sinai Baptist Church said a friend who works at the school notified him about the noose pictures. “Once that was brought to my attention and I saw the picture, we knew that we had to stand up and inform the public,” Mackey told  NBC News . “All we’re asking is after a thorough investigation, that whoever is involved in this racist image be fired.” Hempstead Town Supervisor Laura Gillen echoed the same sentiments in a statement that was issued on Sunday. “This imagery that was on display in a Roosevelt Middle School classroom is undoubtedly racist and should not be tolerated in our Town, or any other community,” said Gillen. “The imagery is also deeply insensitive and troubling to anyone with mental health issues and those contemplating suicide.” There’s no word yet if any faculty involved has been let go.

Juvenile Trauma: NY Detention Center Allegedly Tried To Cover Up Sexual Abuse Of Teens

Source: Toshi Sasaki / Getty Two Lawsuits Call Out Staff Members By Name Some horrible and shady things seem to be coming to light for a juvenile detention center in New York. According to New York Daily New s , supervisors and staff at the Horizon Juvenile Center were accused in a lawsuit of coercing teens to perform sex acts with them. The suit was filed on behalf of Franklyn Malonado, a teen who spent 2010 through 2014 in and out of Horizon. At the detention center, which holds 10 to 15-year-olds in Mott Haven, supervisors allegedly participated in “grooming” teen boys and girls to have sex with Horizon employees in exchange for things like smuggled booze, cigarettes and food. Former administrative director of residential child care, Tahia Dennis, was one of the supervisor named in the suit. Weeks after being named, Dennis ordered the shredding of internal documents. The content of the documents is unknown, but they could possibly link staff to the alleged abuse. Fortunately, the documents didn’t get destroyed and according to City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), they were seized by management and sent to a locked warehouse. The situation was then referred to the city Department of Investigation. The lawsuit described graphic details of the alleged abuse. In one instance, a female counselor was found naked on top of a teenager in his cell. Malonado says that same counselor told him she would make sure he didn’t face disciplinary actions if he “took care of her needs.” Initially, Malonado’s suit was filed in August of 2017 and it didn’t include names. However, in September of that year, Maldonado’s lawyer, Vik Pawar, filed an updated lawsuit that listed the names of supervisors, including Dennis. Twelve days later, Dennis sent out an email to the detention center’s tour commander and overseer of counselors, writing, “Please begin immediately to shred old paperwork and files that you might have since the building opened. Thank You.” A former employee at Horizon said the documents were shredded soon after the email was sent out, however a spokeswoman for the ACS, Chanel Caraway, told Daily News  that none of the records were shredded. “This was part of a routine shredding of duplicate documents, but these documents were never actually shredded and have been stored in a secure location the entire time,” Caraway said. “However, the matter was referred to DOI upon learning of it.” A second lawsuit was filed in May of 2018 accusing certain Horizon staff members of sexual abuse. Miguel Smith, a teen who was at Horizon between 2013 and 2015, said that Dennis and another supervisor would “stand guard” while a female counselor had sex with him. Pawar is representing Smith as well, and he questions the claim that the email shredding order was apart of a routine task. “It says ‘from the beginning’ so they’ll be hard-pressed to explain that they’ve been doing this (shredding) going back,” Pawar said. “I think they’re hiding stuff. I think they got caught with their pants down and they were destroying evidence.” A new ACS commissioner had been appointed since all the alleged abused took place and he said he “ordered a top-to-bottom overhaul of leadership and practices at Horizon.” Meanwhile, the investigation of the staff in the lawsuits continues.

Race Matters: Black Ex-CBS Employee Sues For Being Called “Obama” And Threats “I’d Shoot This B**ch”

Image via George Rose/Getty Images Fomer CBS Employee Files Lawsuit For Racist And Threatening Supervisor A Black woman who was formerly employed by CBS has filed a lawsuit claiming that she was harassed, threatened and called “Obama” by her bigoted bosses according to TMZ . The unidentified woman says she once asked a question of her supervisor, he replied: “I’d shoot this b**ch if I had a gun.” The comment was overheard by another supervisor and when asked what was happening the offending manager said: “Chicago Double tags, b**ch!” The woman says the aggressive nature of the comments left her in fear. It is also alleged that managers would regularly talk about things like “rub-and-tug” massages in front of other employees. The former employee believes she was fired because she complained about the frat house-like work environment. CBS’ weak retort? The claims are “without merit”. Yeah, ok.

So Sad: School Lunch Lady Fired For Giving Food To Hungry 12-Year-Old Girl With No Money

Lunch Lady Fired For Giving Food To Hungry 12-Year-Old Girl A school lunch lady for giving a free meal to a hungry young student according to WPTV reports: Dalene Bowden says she gave the meal to a middle school student who said she didn’t have any money. “My heart hurts. I truly loved my job, and I can’t say that I wouldn’t do it again,” said Bowden. It’s been a week since Bowden lost her job at Irving Middle School. “What do you do? Send them out there, so they can get it taken away and thrown away? No,” she said. Last Tuesday, Bowden was working as a server when a 12-year-old girl told her she didn’t have any lunch money and was hungry. “So, I handed her the food and said, ‘Here. We’ll take care of it in a minute,’” she said. Bowden’s supervisor saw what happened and reported her. “He said I was on permanent leave until he called me. I should not call them. He will call me. And they never called me. I got the letter,” Bowden said. The letter was signed and written by the school district director of human resources. In that letter, Bowden was terminated for “theft.” Bowden told a local newspaper she offered to pay for the $1.70 meal, but her supervisor rejected the offer. Through social media, she has rallied quite a number of supporters. She has also hired an attorney. The school district could not be reached for comment. What the hell kind of person snitches on the lunch lady for giving a free meal away to a hungry child?!!?

Kansas City Hotel Supervisor Fired After Hanging A “Slave Doll” From A Plastic Bag Noose In Doorway To Her Office

Kansas City Adams Mark Worker Files Complaint After Supervisor “Lynched” Slave Doll In Entrance To Her Office This is just crazy the isht people think they can get away with these days… According to KSHB Kansas City reports : Jaysyn Craddock is a front desk assistant at the Adam’s Mark Hotel. He explained to 41 Action News that he was working on July 21, when his supervisor hung the black doll from the noose and asked him to come and look at it. “So she looked at me and said, ‘Look what I hung up,’ in a giggling way and she asked me, ‘Does this offend you?’ She didn’t say ‘I’m sorry,’ she said ‘Does this offend you?’ And I didn’t say anything. I was just so upset that I went back to helping people and she left it up until the end of the night,” Craddock said. Later, Craddock and some co-workers complained to the front desk manager. “It’s embarrassing. It’s humiliating. Like I felt like that no actions were going to be taken, because our front desk manager spoke to all of us individually and she asked us if we wanted to speak to the person who hung up the doll and we all said yes. She said something to us individually; but she said after you speak with my supervisor, I don’t want to hear anything about it,” Craddock added. Adams Mark Hotel later fired the supervisor. A statement from the hotel said the supervisor “hung a slave doll using a plastic bag as a noose and displayed the doll in an employee common area.” A photo of the doll has been circulating on social media sites since July 22, according to the attorney. Craddock’s attorneys have filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If the EEOC gives them the green light, Craddock’s attorneys will be able to sue the Adam’s Mark Hotel for harassment. The hotel has since released the following statement: “This isolated incident is completely inconsistent with the values and culture of the Adam’s Mark Hotel Kansas City. This disturbing occurrence took place late Tuesday evening, July 21st. When brought to the attention of management the following day, an investigation was initiated. Immediately following the investigation, the employee was terminated, Friday, July 24th, prior to the start of their next shift. The Adam’s Mark Kansas City is committed to maintaining a positive working environment free of unlawful harassment.” Do you think he should sue the hotel? This is so crazy, the last place anyone should have to deal with this kind of bs is at work. Instagram

Pregnant Woman Fired For Taking Too Many Bathroom Breaks on the Job

Dawn Steckmann, a Portland, Oregon, woman, claims she was recently fired for taking too many bathroom breaks on the job while carrying her second child. The former technician at Maxim Integrated Products is filing a gender and discrimination lawsuit against the Beaverton, Ore., cell phone chip manufacturer. She says her bosses never told her she had to clock out before using the restroom, and you won’t believe the grounds she says higher-ups used to can her: Her lawsuit claims one supervisor told her she had been fired for stealing because “not clocking out to use the restroom is stealing from the company.” While that seems crazy, she said the same boss informed her that she could’ve just as easily been “watching a movie” during bathroom breaks. According to the lawsuit, Steckmann worked at the company for 10 years, and claims she discussed this with her supervisor during her first pregnancy. In 2011, she openly said that she needed more frequent bathroom breaks and asked if she needed to clock out. Her boss told her not to bother, she says. Even before she was fired, Steckmann complained that her supervisor favored male employees, assigning the best tasks to them and using less discipline. When she told her supervisor in January 2013 she was pregnant for the second time, he “appeared unhappy with the news,” the lawsuit stated. Because of a bladder condition stemming from her first pregnancy, she needed to relieve herself even more often during her second, and more quickly. “[Steckmann’s] bladder issues were so severe that she would not even have had time to clock out to use the restroom without an accident,” the lawsuit states. The lawsuit was filed last month in Multnomah County. Steckmann is seeking $400,000 in damages, and an attorney for the company did not comment. What do you think? Does she have a case? Discuss.

Les-Bi-Honest: Female Yahoo Employee Sues For Sexual Harassment Claiming Her Female Supervisor Forced Her To Lick The Box

Dang, isht really goes down in Silicon Valley… Female Yahoo! Executive Sued For Sexual Harassment By Female Employee Maria Zhang, Senior Director of Engineering at Yahoo, is being sued for sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The complaint was filed Friday by Nan Shi, an engineer supervised by Zhang, and also names Yahoo as a defendant. According to the San Jose Mercury News: In her complaint, Nan Shi says she was working as a principal software engineer when the supervisor, industry veteran Maria Zhang, forced her to have sex against her will on multiple occasions, promising her “a bright future at Yahoo” if she acquiesced. After coercing her to have “oral and digital sex,” Shi says when she finally resisted Zhang’s advances, the executive retaliated by giving her a bad performance review and removing her as a project lead. When she reported the abuse to Yahoo, Shi says, the company did nothing to stop it, and then put her on what eventually became an unpaid leave followed by final termination that took effect Friday. According to Shi and her Sunnyvale attorney, Matthew Fisher, Shi had been working for Zhang’s mobile-app startup in Seattle and when Yahoo purchased it in 2013, both women came down to work for Yahoo. Shi says Zhang told her to move into a temporary Yahoo housing unit in Sunnyvale. “While staying with Plaintiff, Zhang coerced Plaintiff to have oral and digital sex with her on multiple occasions against her will, even after Plaintiff told her she did not want to have sex,” the complaint alleges. “Zhang told Plaintiff she would have a bright future at Yahoo if she had sex with her. She also stated she could take away everything from her including her job, stocks, and future if she did not do what she wanted.” The complaint alleges that Zhang, as Shi’s manager, forced her “to work grueling hours and compose work emails over the weekend at the apartment, sometimes right after sex.” Zhang did not respond to a request for comment. But a Yahoo spokesperson said “There is absolutely no basis or truth to the allegations against Maria Zhang. Maria is an exemplary Yahoo executive, and we intend to fight vigorously to clear her name.” Sounds CRAZY!!! Do you think Yahoo! will end up settling this out of court? How embarrassing. If Shi is telling the truth Zhang should be ashamed of herself. Here’s Zhang’s original tweet about the acquisition that landed both her and Shi at Yahoo. Shutterstock /Twitter
