Then you’ll want to watch this shot-for-shot fan trailer that recreates every moment of Ridley Scott’s second Prometheus trailer with paper and flashlights, which is at once the antithesis of the effects-laden sci-fi pic and a neat-o celebration of its fantastical imagery. Plus: Paper Fassbender! Still hot. Obviously I have a fondness for animated fan trailers, but this one takes the form to a new level. It’s inventive, detailed, and meticulously reconstructed, and whoever drew these characters did an especially fine job on Paper Idris Elba. So far, the consensus is clear: “Prometheus” is a flawed film with a lot of great things going for it, most notably a breakout scene-stealing performance from Michael Fassbender (“Shame”), inspired and amazing 3-D effects and plenty of “jolt and amaze” moments that all but assure filmgoers “will be right back for seconds” when 20th Century Fox releases the film next Friday. Critics have nothing but praise for the performances of Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace and Idris Elba, though they are particularly emphatic in their appreciation for Fassbender as the android butler David. When MTV News caught up with Theron recently, she gushed about what makes Fassbender worthy of all that praise . And for fans who can’t wait to see the cast in action, Theron will appear at the MTV Movie Awards, airing this Sunday, June 3 at 9 p.m. E.T. on MTV. “Technically, ‘Prometheus’ is magnificent. Shot in 3-D but without the director taking the process into account in his conceptions or execution, the film absorbs and uses the process seamlessly,” The Hollywood Reporter writes. “There is nary a false or phony note in the effects.” “Scott and his production crew compensate to some degree with an intricate, immersive visual design that doesn’t skimp on futuristic eye-candy or prosthetic splatter,” Variety agrees. Those going in expecting a straightforward prequel to Scott’s “Alien” may be disappointed. The latest iteration of Lindsay Lohan walked the red carpet at A&E’s big upfronts event last night in New York, and man. Something is seriously wrong. There to support Lifetime and her new Liz & Dick movie, Lohan showed off her new skin shade of copper, applies unevenly, and absurdly plump lips. Collagen, kids. Don’t do it. Lindsay’s face also appears more taut and stretched than before, perhaps the result of having work done, which is perhaps the result of attempting to stave off the effects of smoking, drinking, snorting coke, tanning and emotional abuse. Because nothing says “blockbuster of the season” like angsty daddy issues — mingled with a barrage of cool CG-tastic effects and action shots and nerd bait — Sony’s unveiled the latest official trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man , due in theaters July 3. Emphasis this time around is on what made emo-snarky Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) the super-powered jokester hero he is: Namely, losing Ma and Pa Parker as a kid. This is the most complete-feeling trailer we’ve seen so far, with Parker’s voice over literally explaining his character struggle to us over a melange of intriguing action-y bits, interspersed with the mushy stuff with Emma Stone. Photorealistic Lizard eyeballs! Ceiling chases! Web-slinging gone wrong! Most importantly, the effects here show more detail and look much more complete than in trailers and teasers past. Alright, so these pictures of Lindsay Lohan aren’t all that exciting, all she’s doing is running through town with a surfboard like any sane Hollywood star would, but I still find them very interesting. Not because she’s whiter than my ass in the wintertime, or that she’s wearing silly old lady shoes that completely ruin the effects of those short shorts. What’s interesting to me is that if she’s got a surfboard she might be planning a trip to the beach which means possible bikini pictures. I can wait.
