T allahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum shot down President Donald Trump ’s election fraud claim and his call to name GOP candidate Ron DeSantis the winner of Florida’s gubernatorial race. SEE ALSO: Black America ‘Did The Thing’ With High Voter Turnout On Election Day Gillum rallied supporters Monday night at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Boynton Beach, Florida, saying that Trump and current Republican Gov. Rick Scott are trying to rush the recount process, WPEC-TV reported. “If we don’t swear in a new governor until January, what is the rush for you? Count every vote,” Gillum said. “They’re claiming voter fraud because supervisors of elections are counting votes.” That statement was in response to Trump’s tweet on Monday morning. The president stated, “The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged. An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!” Rick Scott is using every stunt within his power to suppress the vote. Keep fighting, Andrew Gillum! https://t.co/PVSZ72RJrv — NewsOne (@newsone) November 12, 2018 Gillum continues his fight to become Florida’s first African-American governor in a race that was too close to call. Unofficial results showed that DeSantis led Gillum by 0.41 percent, ABC News   reported. Under Florida law, election officials ordered a machine recount on Saturday because the vote margin was less than 0.5 percent. All 67 counties face a state-ordered deadline of Thursday to finish their recounts. Meanwhile, Gillum isn’t alone in calling out Trump. Circuit Chief Judge Jack Tuter declared on Monday that there’s no evidence of voter fraud in the recount. However, Gillum told his audience that there were voter suppression issues during the election, as well as some irregularities . In one instance, a heavily Republican district allowed 150 voters to scan and email their ballots, which violated state law. “Regardless of what the outcome of what this race is, we want every single vote in all 67 counties — Republican, Democrat or otherwise — that every single vote be counted,” he said. Chris Matthews Attacks Michele Bachmann as ‘Zombie-Like’ and ‘Moonie-Like’ for Defending Free Enterprise on BBC

MSNBC host Chris Matthews cannot understand how conservatives could think that free enterprise is somehow American, and that being anti-free enterprise seems anti-American. On Tuesday night's Hardball, Matthews boosted a new effort by Democrats like David Brock and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend to organize their own independent-expenditure campaign to beat Republicans. Matthews brought on Townsend, who couldn't even win a race for governor of a blue state (Maryland) to explain how she would make the Democrats victorious. Matthews aired BBC video of Rep. Michele Bachmann (clearly borrowed from the Think Progress blog , since you can see the “Pro” of their logo), and attacked her as like a zombie, a Moonie, and a Manchurian Candidate: MATTHEWS: Look at her eye contact. I asked her when we had her on election night if she's under hypnosis . She doesn't answer the question. She looks straight ahead in that kind of zombie-like manner, like she's waiting for somebody to flash a card, like in “Manchurian Candidate.” I mean, I don't know what her state is. She apparently just got blown away running for leadership, so the members of the House on the Republican side — read more

REVIEW: Emotions Get the Better of 8: The Mormon Proposition

Scheduled to be released on the second anniversary of California’s legislation of gay marriage, 8: The Mormon Proposition marks the occasion with a furious requiem. Mournful and righteous in its retracing of the months between the bill’s passage and election night in November 2008, the film assembles a damning case against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS), which spearheaded a massive campaign to revoke gay marriage rights. Directors Reed Cowan and Steven Greenstreet make their agenda clear from the first frames, which depict a Mormon “prophet” calmly denouncing gay marriage in extreme close-up, his face distorted with scary, Poltergeist -style pixilation. The opening impression — that the LDS acted villainously with regard to Prop 8 — will soon be supported by a raft of facts; that the Mormon church couldn’t have done it alone is a complication the film sidesteps almost completely.
