‘The Voice’ judge will headline ‘Cee Lo Green Presents Loberace’ at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino starting in August. By Kara Warner Cee Lo Green Photo: Getty Images As if Grammy-nominated recording artist and “Voice” judge Cee Lo Green Cee Lo Green didn’t already have enough on his plate, the man is taking his act to Las Vegas, where he will headline “Cee Lo Green Presents Loberace,” at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino beginning August 29. The “F— You” singer announced via his website Friday (March 2) that his show will “take you on a ride through the colorful decades of music, stopping at legendary moments in time, from Prince to Blue Magic to The Rolling Stones, new wave to disco and beyond,” according to the news announcement on the site. “Visually, the production will combine Cee Lo’s flamboyant sense of style & over-the-top creativity, magnified and intensified, with his soulful voice covering some of his favorite music, as well as original songs. Part dance party, part live intimate concert, this energetic, exotic show will be as inspired and visually alive as Cee Lo Green. There will be mind-twisting magic and sexified showgirls, and the larger-than-life wardrobe and impressive stage design will out-glam and out-clever anything you’ve seen from this Muppet-ized, sequin-styled international Lady Killer to date.” Cee Lo’s “alter ego” is a nod to legendary and flamboyant showman Liberace, a world-renowned vocalist and pianist famous for both his talent and his outlandish fashion. The Goodie Mob rapper and Gnarls Barkley singer has been front and center in the world of music and pop culture over the past couple of years thanks to the success of his hit single “F— You” and the subsequent duet with Gwyneth Paltrow that was born on “Glee” and received special “Muppet-ized” treatment at the Grammys last year. And don’t forget the success of “The Voice” and Cee Lo’s recent involvement in the Super Bowl halftime show with Madonna . “Cee Lo Green Presents Loberace,” begins its first of 28 shows on Wednesday, August 29, and goes through December 9. In addition to Keys’ seventh LP, a second Blakroc album is also on the horizon. By Gil Kaufman The Black Keys Photo: Warner Bros. Records The Black Keys typically keep it simple: two guys, drums, guitars and thick slabs of bluesy goodness. They also keep it quick, which explains how the duo has already recorded their follow-up to 2010’s breakthrough album, Brothers, according to drummer Patrick Carney.

Singer tells MTV News there’s ‘friendly competition’ with fellow judges Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Matt Elias Cee Lo Green Photo: MTV News Given his gigs fronting ATL rap crew Goodie Mob, Gnarls Barkley and his recent mega-viral success with the song “F— You,” you’d think the last thing Cee Lo Green would do is join the cast of a reality singing competition. But you’d be wrong. “At first, I thought it was a very cool and original concept,” Green said of the script-flipping conceit of the soon-to-launch “The Voice,” in which judges sit with their backs to contestants to focus on their vocals instead of their looks as they decide whether to mentor them through later rounds. Secondly, after years of touring and grinding it out on the road, Green said he was looking forward to staying put in Los Angeles and pursuing the new opportunities that have come his way thanks to the exposure from the Grammy-nominated “F— You.”

Show featured Gwyneth Paltrow singing cleaned-up version of hit song. By Aly Semigran Gwyneth Paltrow performs “Forget You” on “Glee” Photo: FOX Out with the old music and in with the new. That was the focus of last night’s episode of “Glee.” And that motto has certainly served the show well this season, as witnessed by the reception for their cover of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” last week. The a cappella version, which featured hot new “Glee” commodity Darren Criss, shot to the top of the iTunes charts and moved an estimated 55,000 copies on its first day alone. The show once again decided to tap into the well of recent smash hits when they had the cast back up guest star Gwyneth Paltrow , who most recently showed off her singing skills during last week’s live broadcast of the Country Music Awards, for her classroom rendition of Cee Lo’s “F— You!” Of course, given the fact that it’s a hit prime-time series with a predominantly young viewership, “Glee” opted to go with the radio-friendly version, “Forget You.” But there’s nothing forgettable about Cee Lo Green’s career, all the way up until the surprise success of “F— You!” He’s a Grammy-nominated artist and a founding member of the rap group Goodie Mob, as well as the second half of the duo that is Gnarls Barkley (perhaps you’ll recall a little single from 2006 called “Crazy”?). Cee Lo has written songs for the likes of P. Diddy, Ludacris, Common and even penned (as well as produced) the Pussycat Dolls’ massive hit “Don’t Cha.” Leave it to the multi-talented star to be able to transform a profanity-laced track (with the F-word right there in the title, no less) into a top 40 hit. The first single off Cee Lo’s upcoming solo album The Lady Killer was released in the U.S. on August, 19, 2010, but was initially created during a recording session in a Los Angeles studio. The track was a collaborative effort with Bruno Mars and Phil Lawrence, among others. Cee Lo has said in interviews that while the song is mostly fictitious (he claims there was no particular woman in mind), it is somewhat based in reality. The song really made its impact on YouTube . A no-frills video featuring only the tune’s lyrics was released first (fans could now easily sing a long with the catchy chorus, “I see you drivin’ ’round town with the girl I love/ And I’m like, f— you/ I guess the change in my pocket wasn’t enough/ I’m like, ‘F— you!’/ And f— her, too’ “) and, to date, has had more than 7 million views. An official video followed soon after, which proved to be just as inspired and tongue-in-cheek as the song itself. A lovelorn youngster lip-synch’s Cee Lo ‘s decidedly non-kid-friendly words while pining after the girl that’s traded him in for a new model (“I guess he’s an Xbox/ And I’m more Atari”). Even 50 Cent opted to get in on the fun, releasing his own remix of the song. When the song hit a fever pitch, radio stations across the country picked it up, but rather than bleep out “f—,” most went with the alternate version of the track, “Forget You.” While Cee Lo prefers the original version, he understands the need for a more-PC take on the track. The artist told Entertainment Weekly , “[It’s] not as effective. But it’s politically correct.” In addition to becoming an instant fan favorite, the tune was equally appreciated by critics. Billboard called the unconventional mix of doo-wop, hip-hop and pop “too irresistible to be denied,” while the UK’s Guardian dubbed it “one of this year’s most uplifting releases, with a chorus that makes you want to punch the air and imprecate cheerfully at total strangers.” The 36-year-old has since performed the song on shows like “Late Show With David Letterman” and “The Colbert Report” (in which he strategically placed the “F— You!” lyric with “Fox News”). What did Cee Lo think of Mrs. Chris Martin’s take on his song for “Glee”? Cee Lo told MTV News that while he hadn’t yet seen the “Glee” performance, he was “flattered” that the show wanted to use the song and found it “too awesome” that it was going to be sung by none other than Gwyneth Paltrow. Producer says D’Angelo has been working ‘nonstop’ on new music. By Mawuse Ziegbe Mark Ronson Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images Mark Ronson might be the key to getting some of soul music’s notoriously reclusive artists back in the studio. In addition to a June session with Amy Winehouse for her contribution to a Quincy Jones tribute album, Ronson said he’s slated to work on new material with R&B artist D’Angelo. The British producer told Billboard that he was “going into the studio … to work a bit on his record, and I have equal parts intimidation and awe and excitement.” After releasing two acclaimed albums, 1995’s Brown Sugar and Voodoo in 2000, D’Angelo has, for the most part, vanished from the scene, only occasionally dropping vocals on projects like Q-Tip’s 2008 album The Renaissance and Raphael Saadiq’s 2002 Instant Vintage LP. The singer may have shied away from the limelight in recent years, but Ronson said he’s been staying busy. “I know he’s been working nonstop. It’s not like they’ve been sitting on their asses.” Ronson also revealed that D’Angelo has been keeping up on music during his hiatus. The singer and multi-instrumentalist, who covered Smokey Robinson on his debut and boasts a repertoire that often references throwback R&B sounds, said he’s kept a pair of sonically retro albums in rotation. “I was pretty much floored when D said that the only two records of the past five to six years that he really listened to a lot were St. Elsewhere by Gnarls Barkley and [Amy Winehouse’s] Back to Black, ‘ ” said Ronson, who crafted Winehouse’s 2007 hit album. “I was like, ‘I cannot believe I made something that this guy listened to over and over again and looked to for inspiration.’ ” Are you looking forward to a new D’Angelo album? ‘It was a dream session come true,’ Mars says of creating track with Smeezingtons producing partner and Cee-Lo. By Jayson Rodriguez Bruno Mars Photo: MTV News Bruno Mars and production partner Philip Lawrence of the Smeezingtons are the pair behind Cee-Lo’s potty-mouthed breakout hit, “F— You.” The track is equal parts brutal and comical and, according to Mars, the duo’s collaboration with the Gnarls Barkley/ Goodie Mob member was ideal. Mars and Lawrence have long been influenced by Cee-Lo and the rapper/singer took to their tune like Angelina Jolie did to Brad Pitt. “Talk about the perfect marriage, we been fans of Cee-Lo for real,” Bruno Mars told MTV News. “And we became labelmates and I was just feeding that to them,” he said of urging the record label to smooth the way for a collabo.” ‘We got to get in. I know he’s working on something, we got to do something.’ So he comes in the session, and it was one of the most organic sessions. “We wrote a song and it’s not for radio, obviously, with the title. We’re probably gonna have to work on that. But it was a dream session come true; that was the idea collaboration. Everyone was just putting their minds together and [we came] up with one of our favorite tracks we’ve ever done.” The production duo’s recent credits include tracks for Mary J. Blige, B.o.B and Travie McCoy, with Mars lending his vocals to McCoy’s “Billionaire” and B.o.B’s VMA-nominated smash “Nothin’ On You.” But the profanity-laced record was cooked up three years ago when Cee-Lo first began working on his sophomore solo effort, The Lady Killer, due December 7. The Smeezingtons delivered a rough sketch of the song that included production and a reference hook. Cee-Lo heard the music and instantly wanted the number, Mars said. “He came in and we started singing it for him,” Mars said. “And he’s just, ‘I love that, man. That’s beautiful.’ And we said, ‘Let’s go,’ and that’s all we really had — just that concept — and now it’s blowing up.” Have you heard Cee-Lo’s “F— You”? Tell us what you think in the comments! ‘Everyone’s loved it. It was all in fun,’ she says, responding to Bill O’Reilly’s criticism of ‘Graduate’-inspired shoot. By Jocelyn Vena Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber Photo: Larry Busacca/Getty Images If only Justin Bieber were 18, then he might have a shot at scoring a date with his pal and Elle photo-shoot partner, Kim Kardashian . When the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star stopped by “Lopez Tonight” on Tuesday night she admitted that if their age difference wasn’t so large (she’s 29, he’s 16), she might be attracted to the chart-topping, mop-headed pop singer. “If he was of legal age, I said Justin Bieber has like this swag to him,” she said, according to E! Online . “You just have to meet him. He definitely has this swag to him.” While the “Graduate”-inspired photo shoot of the pair frolicking on the beach seems pretty harmless, TV pundit Bill O’Reilly found the photos inappropriate and criticized them . For her part, Kardashian doesn’t see the controversy in the photos. “I thought that the shoot was all in fun. We had a good time,” she said on “Lopez.” “Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion on it, but we were just having a good time and the amazing creative team at Elle magazine obviously thought it was a great shoot. Everyone’s loved it. It was all in fun.’ Bieber, however, may have some competition. Kardashian teases that there might already be someone special in her life. She said, “You never know. Maybe someone has [come into my life]. You never know.” Earlier this year, when he stopped by VMA host Chelsea Handler ‘s talk show, “Chelsea Lately,” Bieber admitted he wouldn’t mind scoring a date with the reality starlet . “Well, I mean, she actually said, or Kim said, ‘I think Justin Bieber should date my sister,’ ” he recalled of Kardashian trying to set up Biebs with her younger sister. “And I was like, ‘I think I should date you.’ ” Handler may have summed it up best when she quipped, “Basically, what’s happening is, you made it OK to flirt with underage people.” Related Photos Justin Bieber And His Many Lady Friends Related Artists Justin Bieber
