2011 MTV Movie Awards Voting Begins Today!

Starting Tuesday, fans can choose the nominees for Best Kiss, Best Line and more. By Eric Ditzian Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” Photo: Summit The power of the Golden Popcorn is once again yours! Starting today, we’re asking you to cast your votes and select the nominees for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards in 13 categories ranging from the familiar (Best Movie, Best Kiss) to the brand-new (Best Line from a Movie). Can “Eclipse” reprise the success of “Twilight” (seven nods) and “New Moon” (five nods) before it? Will Biggest Badass star go to Robert Downey Jr.’s sardonic, super-suited hero in “Iron Man 2,” to Angelina Jolie for her acrobatic brawling in “Salt,” or someone else entirely? Which star’s unforgettable line — Liam Neeson’s plea to release the Kraken? Justin Timberlake’s insistence that only a billion dollars is truly cool? — will be the first to take home this award? For a third-straight year, it’s up to you! Here’s how it’ll work: Starting Tuesday (March 22) and running through April 5, you can log onto MovieAwards.MTV.com to nominate your favorite movies, stars and crazy cinematic moments. Once the final nominees are announced, head back to the site to vote for the winners from May 3 through June 4. Voting for Best Movie, however, will remain open throughout the live ceremony on June 5 — meaning you’ll have a chance to affect the night’s biggest prize until the very last minute. “MTV’s viewers are die-hard film buffs, and we love to see how they wield that dedication when voting for the MTV Movie Awards,” said Stephen Friedman, general manager of MTV. “This year’s show will once again reward movie buffs with previews of the year’s most anticipated movies and one-of-a-kind moments that become pop-culture history.” The 20th Annual MTV Movie Awards will air live on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. Robert Pattinson Wonders Why He’s At The Oscars In His #3 MTV Moment

RPattz will debut an exclusive ‘Water for Elephants’ clip and answer fan questions live Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson at the 2009 Academy Awards Photo: Jeff Vespa/WireImage If you ask us, Robert Pattinson officially arrived in Hollywood when “Twilight” won five Golden Popcorn statues at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards — including RPattz’s nods for Best Kiss, Best Fight and Breakthrough Male Performance. But others might argue his Tinseltown coming-out party occurred a few months earlier. In late February ’09, after a weeklong series of rumors had whipped the Twi-nation into a frenzy, Pattinson walked onto an Academy Awards red carpet for the first time. He was not there because he was nominated, but simply because the Academy could not ignore the vampire phenomenon that had ignited the box office — and too many tween hearts to count — the previous fall. It was the biggest night in Hollywood, after all, and its biggest new star just had to be there. Not that he could quite wrap his head around the idea. “It’s insane,” Pattinson exclaimed when we caught up with him on the carpet. “When they first told me about this, I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, you’re joking’ — or ‘I’m going to have to do something really stupid like get gunged!’ ” Assuming he’d need to get doused with slime to justify an Oscars appearance, for that reason alone, this awards-season moment deserves to make our countdown of favorite Pattinson moments before the debut of “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” at 8:56 p.m. ET on Friday. But RPattz’s self-deprecating humor aside, it was at the Oscars that his status as the rising young actor in town was solidified. During the ceremony, he took the stage alongside Amanda Seyfried to present a montage of the year’s romantic films, everything from “Mamma Mia!” to “Revolutionary Road” to, yes, “Twilight.” Yet even though footage from the film that made him a star played at the Oscars, he couldn’t quite believe the situation. “I’m so surprised that it worked out the way it did,” he told us of becoming a crush-worthy Hollywood presence. “I was thinking the whole time, ‘I don’t really have the personality to fit into that.’ I’m not really afraid of it. I don’t even know how to play up that. I don’t know if I could ever be cast in a heartthrob role, apart from ‘Twilight,’ which I didn’t know was a heartthrob role.” Don’t miss “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” this Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Robert Pattinson Kisses Kristen Stewart Onstage In His #4 MTV Moment

RPattz will debut an exclusive ‘Water for Elephants’ clip and answer fan questions live Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage Robert Pattinson later confessed that the kiss “didn’t work,” but there are legions of “Twilight” fans who would surely disagree. That smooch with Kristen Stewart, after all, might just be the closest any fan will ever get to seeing the duo lock lips in a setting where they’re not pretending to be Forks, Washington, lovebirds. It all went down at the MTV Movie Awards in June of last year, when Pattinson and Stewart took the stage to accept the Golden Popcorn statue for Best Kiss and ended up, awkwardly and charmingly, kissing onstage. The moment immediately became one of the most memorable in Movie Awards history, so it’s no surprise that it’s also one of our favorite RPattz moments — a top-five list we’re counting down before the debut of “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” this Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET. To fully understand the kiss, we’ve got to flash back to 2009, when the actors won their first Best Kiss award . Pattinson leaned into the mic and announced that he had to take the gum out of his mouth. He and KStew stared at each other as if readying for a kiss. They closed their eyes, leaned in, brushed noses — but that’s as close as they’d get. “Thank you so much!” Stewart declared, before they scampered backstage. A year later, they found themselves back onstage, once again accepting the Best Kiss win. “So I guess the thing to do — we’re supposed to kiss each other,” Stewart said. “But to be perfectly honest with you, it takes a lot of smoke and mirrors to make us look good kissing. We don’t want to let you guys down. We’ll give it a shot.” Much like the year before, they seemed to be teasing the audience with the prospect of a Robsten kiss without actually delivering one. Until they did. And the Twi-verse imploded. That didn’t stop Pattinson from telling us afterward that he wasn’t all that pleased with how things went. “I had the best ideas last night,” he told us backstage. “And I was telling everyone, ‘Listen, just leave it to me, I’ve got it all under control.’ I was telling everyone all these ideas. I gave them a whole selection and no one thought they were funny, so then we ended up doing something which didn’t work.” RPattz may not have loved the way things turned out, but the onstage bit they went with sounded a lot better than some of those other ideas of his. “He wanted to be hula-hooping with a match in his mouth, and then he wanted to light a match while I was juggling and he was hula-hooping, and he wanted to put it in my mouth and see if we could make our way over to each other,” Stewart told us later . “It didn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me. I was like, ‘I can’t juggle onstage in shoes. I can barely walk up the stairs.’ ” Don’t miss “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” this Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Tune in to see RPattz introduce a new “Water for Elephants” clip, followed by a live 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Tweet questions using the hashtag #askrob to get in the conversation!

Kristen Stewart On Robert Pattinson’s Other Ideas For Best Kiss Award Acceptance Speech

‘He wanted to light a match while I was juggling and he was hula hooping,’ Stewart says of Pattinson’s alternate ideas for the MTV Movie Awards. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News Without a doubt, one of the most talked-about moments of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards was Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s acceptance “speech” for winning the Golden Popcorn for Best Kiss. Fans loved the quick, awkward kiss Pattinson grabbed from Stewart onstage, but when MTV caught up with him backstage afterwards, he admitted that the stunt didn’t work out the way they’d planned. Apparently Pattinson had other ideas for ways the two “Twilight” stars could accept the award, so when MTV News caught up with Stewart at the press junket for “Eclipse,” we couldn’t resist asking her about them. “He did have some pretty funny ones,” she admitted. But when asked if she regretted not acting on any of Pattinson’s ideas, she responded, “No, no, definitely not. I’m really glad that we didn’t do his.” What was Pattinson’s best suggestion, you might ask? It seems as if he took a page right out of the book of his upcoming film “Water for Elephants” for this one. “He wanted to be hula hooping with a match in his mouth, and then he wanted to light a match while I was juggling and he was hula hooping, and he wanted to put it in my mouth and see if we could make our way over to each other … it didn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me,” Stewart said with a laugh. “I was like, ‘I can’t juggle onstage in shoes. I can barely walk up the stairs.’ ” Stewart didn’t even make it to the stairs this year before she almost fell when she went up with Pattinson to accept the Best Kiss award. At least it was a bit more coordinated than last year’s Movie Awards, when Stewart dropped her Golden Popcorn statue for Best Female Performance during her acceptance speech. “What’s really funny is I really, really don’t try to do that stuff. I try to be [smooth]. This year especially, I was like, I’m just going to give them exactly what they want, I’m going to be totally cool, I’m going to thank everybody,” she said. “I got up there, and I was like, ‘Chris directed the movie, and he’s awesome. Thanks.’ And I had to get off, like that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Anna Kendrick ‘Sprinted Onstage’ To Accept MTV Movie Awards’ Best Movie

‘I didn’t know if I should go up at the end or not,’ she says of her small role in ‘New Moon.’ By Kara Warner Anna Kendrick Photo: Getty Images Anna Kendrick spent much of last year as a critical darling, rewarded with one nomination after another for her performance opposite George Clooney in “Up in the Air.” Despite all the acclaim, Kendrick seems convinced that most of her MTV fans still know her only as Jessica Stanley from the “Twilight” films. Judging by her visibly surprised expression upon hearing her name called for the Best Breakout Star at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards , the starlet appeared not to have considered the Twilighters’ voting power. “I am not cool enough to win an MTV Movie Award!” she said when she accepted her Golden Popcorn, beating out Chris Pine, Zach Galifianakis, Gabourey Sidibe, Logan Lerman and Quinton Aaron for the honor. “So I am not going to mess it up by talking any more than I should.” Later on in the show, Kendrick faced a similar self-conscious struggle in deciding whether she should join her castmembers onstage to accept the Best Movie award for “New Moon.” “It’s so weird. I’m not, like, a big part of the movies, and I understand people are in it for Rob [Pattinson], Taylor [Lautner] and Kristen [Stewart],” she told MTV News. “So I didn’t know if I should go up at the end or not [when the cast won Best Movie]. At the last second, I sprinted onstage. “I was really psyched to get Best Breakout,” she added. “That was so exciting, and then when [‘New Moon’] won, I was the idiot who crawled onstage at the last second.” What did you think of Kendrick’s win and acceptance speech? Robert Pattinson Had Other Plans For Accepting Best Kiss Award

RPattz says he had ‘the best ideas’ for what to do with Kristen Stewart at the MTV Movie Awards. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson backstage at the 2010 Movie Awards Photo: MTV News “Twilight” fans were amused but frustrated in 2009 when their favorite movie couple, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart , shared an appropriately angsty almost-kiss to accept their MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. As such, the MTV favorites were no doubt hoping for something more satisfying from the are-they-or-aren’t-they couple when they accepted their second-straight Golden Popcorn for Best Kiss on Sunday night. “I had the best ideas last night,” Pattinson said, admitting that he’d been brainstorming the night before the show. “And I was telling everyone, ‘Listen, just leave it to me, I’ve got it all under control.’ … I was telling everyone all these ideas. I gave them a whole selection and no one thought they were funny, so then we ended up doing something which didn’t work.” When the big moment arrived, Stewart told the audience that their movie kisses are made possible and award-worthy only with the help of “smoke and mirrors.” They followed that proclamation not with a short and sweet smooch, but by awkwardly attempting to kiss, bumping noses and hands in weird places, getting close and pulling apart a couple of times. “We probably shouldn’t do this, right?” Kristen said, but finally Pattinson grabbed her and spun her away from the crowd for a quick kiss that was mostly obscured by his body. It would have seemed like too much of a tease if it weren’t for Pattinson’s blushing smile as he dashed off the stage. Naturally the moment left many fans scratching their heads, wondering whether the duo had planned their little skit in advance or not. RPattz didn’t think their attempt at slapstick worked, but do you, Twilighters? Talk about it in the comments. How Kristen Stewart Won (And Lost) Her Movie Awards Golden Popcorn

The ‘Twilight’ star wanted to keep the trophy she dropped and broke last year. By Eric Ditzian Kristen Stewart at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards During last year’s MTV Movie Awards, viewers gasped as “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart dropped — and broke! — her Golden Popcorn statue after accepting the award for Best Female Performance. It was an awkward yet endearing (and very Bella-like) moment, and it turned out to be one that KStew truly wanted to cherish forever. Suz-Anna Dela Rosa, the woman in charge of handling the coveted trophies each year, told MTV News exactly what happened following Stewart’s acceptance speech snafu. “These things are pretty heavy,” she explained of the Golden Popcorns. “Unfortunately she dropped it on these three spectacular popcorn [pieces] that are just kind of on the side. The popcorn flew off. But usually we take all the [trophies] back to New York and get them engraved, so we put it back in the box with the others and shipped them back to New York.” Fast-forward a week and half, when Stewart received her new, engraved Golden Popcorn. “I got a phone call from her mother, and her mother said, ‘Kristen would like to have the popcorn that she dropped as her award,’ ” said Dela Rosa. “Unfortunately, we didn’t mark it, so I couldn’t give it to them. They were heartbroken. I felt so bad. She literally was like, ‘You really can’t find it? You really don’t know which one?’ I actually considered dropping one and then re-gluing it with some Krazy Glue to make it look crazy.” But by then, the “Twilight” star already had her statue and there was no chance of inserting a fake. This year, though, Dela Rosa and her team are prepared. “We have actually have the prop master on alert that if anything happens to any of the awards, whether it’s Kristen or anyone else, they are to mark it, put it to the side and not do anything to it and give it to me,” she said. Snooki Weighs In On Kristen Stewart’s Movie Award-Nominated Kisses

‘If Kristen wins with Dakota, Rob is going to be very jealous,’ the ‘Jersey Shore’ starlet tells MTV News. By Christopher “CJ” Smith Snooki Photo: MTV News One of the hottest categories (literally) at Sunday’s 2010 MTV Movie Awards will be Best Kiss , and there’s plenty of lip-smacking smooches to drool over. Kristen Stewart has two chances to pick up some Golden Popcorn in the coveted category, as she’s nominated for her kisses with Dakota Fanning in “The Runaways” and with Robert Pattinson in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” “Jersey Shore” starlet Snooki knows a thing or two about locking lips, but even she was shocked at the amount of action Kristen got onscreen. “And I’m the whore!” she told MTV News when asked which Kristen kiss was hottest. She even predicted some trouble for the (rumored) “Twilight” couple if the “Runaways” kiss takes home the gold. “If Kristen wins with Dakota, Rob is going to be very jealous,” she said. “But, you know, maybe he’ll be a little excited!” It’s possible the two Kristen kisses will split the votes and neither will end up on top, giving fellow nominees Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds from “The Proposal,” Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner from “Valentine’s Day” or Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington from the blockbuster “Avatar” a path to victory. You’ll just have to tune in Sunday to find out the results! During MTV News’ “Jersey Shore Blow-Out at the MTV Movie Awards,” which airs at 8 p.m., right before the Movie Awards, Snooki, Pauly, JWoww, the Situation, Angelina, Sammi, Ronnie and Vinny will present the first 10 minutes of “Jersey Shore” season two . The new season, which premieres in full on Thursday, July 29, follows the cast as they leave the chilly winter waters of Seaside Heights and head out on a road trip to Miami.
