‘Forever My Lady’: One Of The Most Iconic R&B Slow Jams Was Written For Kim Porter

See more here:

A little-known fact about Kim Porter was reverberating across social media in the hours after the sudden death of the model, actress and doting mother was announced Thursday afternoon. One of the most iconic ’90s R&B jams was reportedly not only written with her in mind, but it was written by an iconic R&B singer in his own right. “Forever My Lady,” a chart-topping single released from Jodeci’s smash, multi-platinum debut album of the same name, was written by singer Al B. Sure!, who fathered a child with Porter in June of 1991. Less than a month later, Jodeci released their album and put out their signature single two months later. Al B Sure! reportedly wrote the song about Porter and dedicated it to their son, Quincy. Al B. Sure discussed his role in creating the song during an episode of “Unsung” on TVOne. Amanda Murphy and Heather Kemesky by Bryan Adams of the Day

Bryan Adams may be a national icon here in Canada. He was the Celine Dion of Canadian 80s rock. From Summer of 69 to the soundtracks of some pretty shitty movies (Robin Hood)….because Everything I do a I do it for you….and really…he’s pretty fucking great…. But what I like most about him, is that despite all his success with his music…I mean he’s sold over 100,000,000 records….and since he wrote the song that probably works out to be over 100,000,000 dollars for him…in his pocket… His hobby, or passion is being a creeper model photographer for fashion magazines…as an art form…that he probably gets paid for…unlike instagram models…all while being this super fucking successful musician…making the whole thing extra cool to me…. Here’s another shoot he did for the same magazine of a model called Heather Kemesky The post Amanda Murphy and Heather Kemesky by Bryan Adams of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepfather .

Hate It Or Love It: Ciara “Body Party” (Written By CiCi And Her Boo Future, Produced By Mike WiLL) [Audio]

Ci-Error and Future are determined to prove their chemistry isn’t just in the bedroom , it’s also in the booth. The couple collaborated on her latest single “Body Party.” Check it out below: So what do you think? Do you Hate It Or Love It? Here’s some more info on the song and Ci-Error’s upcoming project, via Billboard : Aside from the infuence of Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo,” what makes the single sweeter? Ciara has teamed up with her boyfriend, Future, for “Body Party.” The rapper, who co-wrote the song with his main squeeze and Mike WiLL, can be heard throughout with his “ooh’s” and ad-libs. “If you listen closely, you can [hear him],” she told The Juice while giggling. “Let’s just say that this record came out of a very sincere place,” Ciara says of working with Future. “I think when things just organically feel right, naturally good things come from it.” “He’ s such an amazing, creative person,” she continues. “I can be very creatively expressive myself, but there’s nothing like being able to work with someone that can bring a new flavor. What I like about [working with] him, it’s almost like I got to learn more things about myself.” “One Woman Army,” to be released in June, will feature production by Rodney Jerkins, The Underdogs, Rock City, Mike WiLL Made It and feature Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross, as well as a wholly content singer at its center. “I can’t avoid being inspired by what’s going on in my life. To be honest, I’m in a very happy place,” Ciara says. Well at least we have Future to thank for Ci-Ci cutting back on that Pop/Hollyweird bullskit she been on for the last five years. Hopefully she gets a few more hits out of this relationship and doesn’t end up being Baby Mother #4 or #5 — yea we lost track of how many this fool got.

Excellent or Bogus? Bill & Ted Make History Fun

If you didn’t gather this from Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln biopic, then Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan are back from the 1980s to tell us that the 16th President of the United States is most excellent, as is Socrates and Sigmund Freud.  Ghengis Khan and Joan of Arc, on the other hand, are Bogus. Those are the verdicts rendered in this infographic, which revisits Bill and Ted’s journey through time and space, in commemoration of the Blu-Ray release of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure . This should whet Bill & Ted fans’ appetites for the new sequel that, back in August, Vulture reported is in the works — with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reprising their roles, and Galaxy Quest director,  Dean Parisot , helming. Bill & Ted creators, Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, have written the script. Keanu Reeves Talks ‘Bill & Ted 3’ Plot In August, Reeves talked to GQ about the weighty-sounding plot of Bill & Ted 3 — explaining that the main characters “have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven’t done it. So everybody is kind of like: ‘Where is the song?'” The Matrix actor added, “The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock. And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future ‘us’ refuses to tell us, and another future ‘us’ blames us for their lives because we didn’t write the song, so they’re living this terrible life. In one version we’re in jail; in another we’re at some kind of highway motel and they hate us.” Heavy, dude. [ Vulture , GQ ] Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter.  Follow Movieline on Twitter.

For Discussion: Can A Muslim Modeling Agency With Modest Standards Succeed In The Fashion Industry?

Can models covered from head to toe conquer the catwalk? It’s no secret that the fashion industry isn’t shy about baring all — so when we heard about a new modeling agency being founded for Muslim models, we liked the idea, but just weren’t sure it would work. Check out the details and tell us if you think it could work! Modeling and modesty are two words that seem mutually exclusive, but a Muslim fashion designer in New York City is trying to change that. A new agency for Muslim models, called Underwraps , is launching next week during New York Fashion Week. Its goal? To prove that models can be gorgeous, stylish, and yet still maintain their religious beliefs. Nailah Lymus is an American-born Muslim whose parents converted to Islam before she was born… Lymus is a self-taught designer who originally studied child development. While interning at a boutique, she ended up designing and selling some pieces there, and what was once a hobby suddenly got lucrative. She’s since made it a full time profession, and has turned her eye towards models. Specifically, Muslim models. There historically haven’t been many well-known Muslim models in western fashion, but that may be changing. Lancôme just signed its first ever Muslim model, Hanaa Ben Abdesslem, who’s Tunisian. Abdesslem broke into the mainstream after debuting on Vivienne Westwood’s runway, and is signed with IMG. Abdesslem doesn’t have her head covered in photographs, and doesn’t seem to be adhering—at least in her professional life—to modesty standards, and Lymus acknowledged that it has to be that way to get recognition right now. “[Muslim models] come from a background where they dress Islamically appropriate, but to be in this industry and to be a model you kind of have to forfeit that,” Lymus said. “That’s why I wanted to start this agency, so you don’t have to do that. You don’t have to lose who you are to be in this business.” To that end, she’s starting Underwraps as an agency for girls who are committed to maintaining modesty standards in their dress, but hope to work with mainstream designers. That’s Lymus’ long-term goal. “We take things seriously and are professional just like other models. During fashion week I’ll be sending them out to castings just like anyone else,” she told me. Right now Underwraps has four girls in development, who aren’t officially signed yet. She’ll bring them to industry events during fashion week and let them get a taste of the attention. Besides having a “look”, Lymus believes that the girls have to have strong personalites and be able to handle the pressures of the industry, and also the misconceptions. Especially since 9/11, there’s a lot of misunderstanding about Islam and its expectations of women. Lymus hopes to shatter the more common ones—like that women can’t work or that they have to wear full abayas. Could an agency like this succeed? It would take a special girl, and an open-minded designer to make it happen. While runways featuring lots of bare skin tend to get attention, there are many designers who could theoretically use Muslim models. Haider Ackermann’s spring show, which featured layered looks and even veils, is one that comes to mind. Regardless of whether or not Underwraps is successful, we love that agencies featuring non-traditional models are trying to make a go of it. We could see there being certain shoots and shows these models could do, but it seems like it might not be enough work to really pay the bills. Besides, why hire a model who won’t strip down when there are so many who will? Source More On Bossip! GTFOHWTBS: Drizzy Drake Says He Never Threatened The Broad Bumpin’ Her Gums On “Marvin’s Room”

Beyotch you wasn’t with me singing in the booth!!! According to TMZ reports : Drake is finally firing back at the disgruntled female vocalist featured on his hit song “Marvin’s Room” … telling TMZ he NEVER threatened the woman when she complained about payment. Earlier this week — a woman named Ericka Lee filed a lawsuit against Drake, in which she claimed she co-wrote the song but never got proper credit. In her suit, Lee claims Drake warned her that if she didn’t back off about payment … he had “people” who would take care of “issues like her.” But Drake’s rep says, “This claim is entirely without merit and our client has not engaged in any wrongful conduct.” The rep also claims Lee consented to have her voice used in “Marvin’s Room” without compensation … adding, “Drake tried for months to resolve the matter amicably, and he now looks forward to being vindicated in court.” In her suit, Lee claims she and Drake were engaged in a romantic relationship for more than a year between 2010 and 2011 … but sources tell us the rapper is adamant there was never a relationship between the two. Guess chicks like Ericka Lee are why Drake has so many “Trust Issues”… More On Bossip! Michael Jackson Doctor To Be Sentenced Today

Conrad Murray faces four years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images Former Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray will learn his fate Tuesday morning (November 29) in a Los Angeles courtroom. The cardiologist, who was found guilty of one felony count of involuntary manslaughter November 7, is facing up to four years in state prison in the death of the pop icon. Though the jury reached a unanimous verdict in the case, due to recent changes in California law aimed at lessening prison overcrowding, experts told MTV News that it’s unlikely Murray will spend much, if any, time behind federal bars. At the time of the verdict, Los Angeles-based criminal defense attorney Mike Cavalluzzi told MTV News it was too early to predict what kind of time Dr. Murray might do, calling the decision one of the toughest ones facing Judge Michael Pastor in the wake of the six-week trial. “[Pastor] will have to seriously consider all of the mitigating factors which would lean toward Dr. Murray not doing any jail time and all of the aggravating factors that would lead toward him going to state prison,” said Cavalluzzi, who was not involved in the case but has represented a number of clients facing felony charges. “It seems to me, at first blush, that any jail time wouldn’t be appropriate in this case given the fact that Dr. Murray has no criminal record and there truly was no malice, no intent to actually harm Michael Jackson at all. What he was really doing was succumbing to the wishes of a patient, and unfortunately, that patient was not a person whose wishes should have been succumbed to.” After Murray was found guilty and swiftly sent to jail with no bail, his attorneys said they were planning to appeal the verdict . They will wait until after sentencing hearing to do so, but either way, Murray will face the loss of his medical license in California. One of Murray’s defense attorneys, Nareg Gourjian, said at the time that the doctor’s team plans to ask for probation but expects his client to spend just “a little bit” of time in county jail. Rihanna’s ‘Cockiness’ Is Perfect For Her, Producer Says

Talk That Talk track is ‘Rihanna all day,’ Bangladesh tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James “FLX” Smith Rihanna Photo: itv Many of the tracks on Rihanna ‘s Talk That Talk certainly touch on some very sexy subjects, using some very saucy language. But none are quite as blush-inducing as “Cockiness (Love It),” a sexed-up, genre-busting anthem on which Rihanna’s not shy about liking the way her man loves her. The Bangladesh-produced song is raunchy and over-the-top, and, according to the man himself, was already cooking up long before Rihanna came calling. ” ‘Cockiness,’ it’s layers of things I had sampled for a long time, never really messed with it too much,” he told MTV News. “I was in L.A., and I had just pulled it out, chopped it up, made it a beat. My artist Candice Pillay, my other writers, Dem Jointz, they wrote the song.” Before appearing on Talk That Talk , the song was merely an idea that needed a bit of fine-tuning before heading Ri’s way. “It wasn’t ‘Cockiness’ at first, it was something else. They had the ‘I love it’ part. … [They] came up with that part first, and that wasn’t even on that track: It was just an idea. I was going to make a whole new beat out of it, what they wrote to it that day, it wasn’t really all the way done. A couple days later, they revisited it and came up with the ‘Cockiness.’ ” After some work, the final product was all ready for just the right artist. Given its sexual innuendo and tomboy swagger, there really was only one person to record the track. “I was like, ‘That’s dope. That’s Rihanna all day,’ ” Bangladesh said. “They sent the song back, and I finished producing it. I put the ‘I love it’ on it that they had already had. … She loved it, and that’s what it was.” Bangladesh joins a who’s who of A-list producers on the album, including vocal producer Kuk Harrell , The-Dream, StarGate, Calvin Harris and Dr. Luke, who produced the album’s second single, “You Da One.” The singer revealed on Twitter that she’s already hard at work on the video for “You Da One.” She tweeted that when she hit up the set over the weekend, no farmers were harmed during the making of the clip. “Shooting another vid in Ireland today! No farm this time,” she joked, a reference to the controversy about the making of her “We Found Love” video , during which a local farmer complained Rihanna’s outfit was “inappropriate.” Which Talk That Talk track would you like to see Rihanna make a video for? Tracy Morgan Returns to the Stand-Up Stage

For the first time since he caused an uproar in Nashville, and then proceeded to make a round of apologies and appearances , Tracy Morgan took to the stage on Saturday night for a stand-up routine. He appeared on stage at Caroline’s in NYC and immediately told the audience he was gonna be “mellow.” But that’s far from the style that has made the 30 Rock star famous, of course, as went on deliver jokes about masturbation, ejaculation, the female anatomy and other topics that had the crowd in stitches. About 45 minutes in, Morgan said: “You’re all sitting here waiting for me say something about the controversy, right? I’m 42, man, and now all of a sudden I’m homophobic?” He then joked: “My father was the lead singer in the Village People. I would sing the ‘Y.M.C.A.’ the loudest. I was sitting right there when he wrote the song.” Morgan shied away from any overt references to homosexuality, but he did re-tell a different joke to which Kevin Rodgers – the Facebook poster who originally called attention to the comedian’s rant earlier this month, and who hugged it out with Tracy during a recent press confrence – objected a few weeks ago. Regarding the joy of making women choke during oral sex, he riffed: “You gotta make that mascara run.” Witnesses say Morgan was mostly himself during the set – still unpredictable, still raunchy – and concluded the routine with the following message: “Gay, straight… I don’t care. As long as you’re happy.” [Photo: WENN.com]
