Sam Smith Videobombs News Report: We See You!

For a Grammy-winning artist who has turned into a global sensation… Sam Smith sure seems desperate for attention. We kid, of course, though the singer does give off that impression in this humorous video. It features the solo artist hanging around the background of an ABC 7 news report about how Red Rocks has just been declared a national monument. The cameraman is speaking to a pair of locals, but the young women can't help but be distracted by the famous individual waving and being all silly behind them. Smith later shared a couple photos from his prank on Instagram and wrote along with them: “Photobombing the news.”

Kush Chronic-les: The Denver Police Would Like To Wish Each And Every Piff-Puffer A Happy 4/20

Denver Police Send Out “Happy 4/20″ Tweet Did you ever think you’d see the day? Via HuffingtonPost In what may go down as the coolest police tweet of all time, the Denver Police Department posted a message of tolerance for the “420” marijuana festivities taking place in the city over the weekend. Late Sunday afternoon, on the second and last day of a massive annual 4/20 marijuana rally at Denver’s Civic Center Park, Denver police tweeted this: In a single lighthearted tweet, the Denver police illustrate just how far the drug war has been rolled back in Colorado — which, in 2012, became the first state in the U.S. to legalize recreational marijuana — with a play on lyrics from Chamillionaire’s 2007 Grammy-winning song “Ridin’.” By any objective standard, that is a pretty cool way for a police department to send a message to the public. When The Huffington Post sent a tweet to the police department account asking about the song referenced, the department noted that “#PoliceLikeToJamToo.” Although private recreational marijuana use has been legalized in the state, public consumption of the drug is still illegal. However, it does still occur, especially at large events. Denver police generally make enforcement of that law on 4/20 a low priority and target only the most egregious offenders. Considering that an estimated 125,000 people attended the rally over the course of the weekend and that Denver police issued only approximately 160 total citations, it appears that police stuck to that strategy. The Associated Press reported Sunday that the police had seen no major issues throughout the weekend. Po po ain’t trippin’! Light it up!

JJ Cale Dies; Grammy-Winning Musician was 74

JJ Cale, a Grammy-winning musician who worked with Eric Clapton and Lynyrd Skynyrd among others, passed away Friday from a heart attack. He was 74 years old. Cale’s manager confirmed his client’s death to The Associated Press, saying the performer died at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, California. The artist was a member of the Grand Ole Opry touring company and won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2007 for Eric Clapton’s “The Road to Escondido.” He once said he owes his entire music career to Clapton, with whom he also collaborated on “Cocaine,” ”Travelin’ Light” and “I’ll Make Love To You Anytime.” Stars such as Santana, The Allman Brothers and Johnny Cash have all covered Cale’s tracks. “JJ Cale was loved by fans worldwide for his completely unpretentious and beautiful music,” said Mike Kappus, president of the Rosebud Agency. “He was loved even more dearly by all those he came in contact with as the most real and down-to-earth person we all knew.”

Jay-Z "Crown" Lyrics: Dissing Scott Boras, Bragging About Robinson Cano Signing

Jay-Z disses Scott Boras in his new song “Crown,” calling the uber-sports agent “over” and bragging about pilfering one of his biggest clients. Jay-Z – Crown The Grammy-winning rapper, who now represents MLB and NBA players as an agent, recently signed New York Yankees all-star Robinson Cano. Until recently, Cano was repped by Bora$, perhaps the biggest and most successful agent in the biz. So it was without a doubt quite a coup for Jay-Z. In the song from his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail , Jay name-checks both, rapping “Scott Boras, you over baby. Robinson Cano, you coming with me.” Asked if he had a reply to Jay-Z’s “Crown” lyrics, Boras told ESPN : “Baseball has given us everything we have, so we give baseball everything we have, all the time.” “We believe that this is the best thing we can do for fans, players and owners, to help the players with their total commitment.” “We don’t represent basketball players or football players. We watch, observe and listen to the game. We help the players who play it with a singular purpose, and that is baseball.” “We have a marketing company, but opportunities don’t avail themselves unless players become stars. That’s our philosophy.” Enlightening, Scott. And so noble, your dedication to the game. Then again, maybe we shouldn’t have expected a different response. It’s not like he’s gonna spit game and start an epic rap battle with the King. How awesome would it be if he tried, though? In any case, Jay is quickly making a name for himself in the sports management game, having enlisted a small but strong group of clients very quickly. Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports also represents Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant, N.Y. Jets rookie Geno Smith and the Tulsa Shock’s Skylar Diggins.
