Jason Aldean: See His Moving Tribute to Las Vegas Shooting Victims

This week must have been unspeakably difficult for Jason Aldean. He was, of course, the performer on stage at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas when a man decided to open fire on the crowd, killing over 50 people and wounding over 500 . When the gunshots began, he rushed offstage, and he reported soon after that he and his crew were safe, but obviously heartbroken about what had happened. But as traumatized as he must be, he still managed to make an appearance on last night's episode of Saturday Night Live. This week, Jason did the show's cold open, and instead of the usual skit, he spoke directly to the audience and the cameras. “This week, we witnessed one of the worst tragedies in American history,” he began. “Like everyone, I'm struggling to understand what happened that night, and how to pick up the pieces and start to heal.” “So many people are hurting. They're our children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends — they're all part of our family.” “So I want to say to them, we hurt for you, we hurt with you,” he continued. “We can be sure that we're gonna walk through these tough times together, every step of the way.” Because, Jason said, “When America is at its best, our bond and our spirit, it's unbreakable.” And then, because his statement wasn't touching enough, he launched into a song. The song he decided to play? “I Won't Back Down,” the incredibly fitting song by the late, great Tom Petty , whose death made this week even tougher than it already was. Kelly Clarkson is not one to stir up any kind of controversy over the Internet. The Cyrus performance – both her own version of “We Can’t Stop” and her raunchy duet with Robin Thicke on “Blurred Lines” – is making waves across the World Wide Web. But for the right reasons? True Or False: Brian Pumper Caught That Ninja And Put The Porn Industry In A Panic

If you haven’t heard by now, the illustrious men and women of the porn industry are shook right now after finding out one of their own caught the HIV. The pornography trade association that broke the news that an adult film performer has tested HIV-positive released a statement Tuesday noting that “the incident occurred outside of California” and that “there is nothing to suggest that the occurrence has affected the Los Angeles-based industry.” The Canoga Park-based Free Speech Coalition learned that the performer had tested HIV-positive on Saturday and the group called for a moratorium on filming Sunday night, according to the statement. It was not clear Tuesday how long the temporary suspension of filming would last. “This moratorium should remain in place until primary reports of any exposure are confirmed. In the event of the necessity for first- and second-generational testing, a list of any individuals that may have been exposed will be compiled and the moratorium will then be evaluated by our medical and legal advisers, as well as industry stakeholders,” the statement said. It was not clear how many porn studios have suspended filming. “Producers, agents and performers are cooperating in order to uphold health and safety protocols,” the statement said. Among the studios that have suspended production is Van Nuys-based Evil Angel, according to spokeswoman and former performer Tricia Devereaux. “The moratorium will last as long as needed to feel confident we won’t be shooting anyone who was exposed,” Devereaux said in a Tuesday email. “Once that ends, there will still be people who haven’t been cleared yet who will have to wait before they can perform.” Almost immediately after the news broke out, it was followed by rumors that “the performer” in question was Brian Pumper . Talkback: Do Motion-Capture Actors Deserve Oscar Cred?

Andy Serkis brings up an interesting point when he insists that motion-capture acting — a la Rise of the Planet of the Apes — is acting , plain and simple. As the performer, you record movement and voice, much like any conventional thespian, except later someone colors over you with computer voodoo. But does that take anything away from the award-worthiness of a role? Should the Oscars key up their appreciation of this artform?
