Reportedly, Mathew Knowles is developing a musical based on the story of Destiny’s Child. “I want to pull back the curtain,” Knowles said in a statement , as reported by Deadline . “I feel it’s time to give the world an opportunity to hear, see and feel the victories and failures that I’ve had as a husband, father and manager who risked everything in pursuit of fulfilling dreams – those of mine and others.” Per Knowles, the production will be titled Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical . He also plans for the musical to premiere in Houston in 2020 before going on to Broadway and London’s West End, and a world tour. Knowles plans to bring his “vision to life” with writer, producer, and director Je’Caryous Johnson. Added Johnson, “I am ecstatic to be working with Mr. Knowles on the development of Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical, ” says Johnson. “It is a unique and inspiring story that will fearlessly tackle hard truths, while bringing both vindication and healing to all who lived it. James Madison High School Principal Enforces Parent Dress Code There’s a HUGE debate happening on social media and it involves respectability politics, a Houston high school and a BLACK Principal that’s being labeled “elitist.” James Madison High School Principal Carlotta Outley Brown (above) is catching hell after she sent out a memo to parents banning them from wearing certain items of clothing to pick up their kids. “Parents, we do value you as a partner in your child’s education,” said Principal Brown in a letter to parents dated April 9. “However, please know we have to have standards, most of all we must have high standards. “No one can enter the building or be on the school premises wearing a satin cap or bonnet on their head for any reason,” she added. You also cannot wear a shower cap of any kind in the building.” Other banned items include bonnets, pajamas, hair rollers, leggings and sagging pants. KPRC-TV Houston reports that the dress code was established shortly after a parent attempted to enroll her child while wearing a headscarf and a “T-shirt dress.” You can see her in the below video. Parents (and social media) are crying foul and claiming that Principal Brown is being an elitist and classist. “I’m almost insulted,” Tomiko Miller, the mother of a Madison High School student told The Houston Chronicle. “I really think it was discriminatory, the language that was used. It was demeaning. And I’m African American — and if it’s misty outside and I have a hair bonnet on, I don’t see how that’s anyone’s business.” Zeph Capo, president of the Houston Federation of Teachers, is calling Principal Brown’s policy “classist,” “belittling” and “dismissive.” “I’m sorry — this principal may have plenty of money and time to go to the hairdresser weekly and have her stuff done,” he said. “Who are you to judge others who may not have the same opportunities that you do? In case you missed it, James Madison High School in Houston has flipped the timeline on its head by instituting a dress code for PARENTS that includes no bonnets, leggings, sagging pants, shower caps, pajamas or hair rollers. There are two schools of thought about what exactly this means. Some think this is necessary for parents to present themselves well for their children. Others think this is anti-black and targeting black parents and delving into respectability. This has sparked a civil war on Twitter and things are going left. James Harden , currently leading a Houston Rockets playoff run, has dedicated his quest for the NBA championship to Hussle, who was a close friend of his. At the presser, Harden’s diamond chain featured Nipsey Hussle’s face which a reporter at the post-game conference after his Houston Rockets squad demolished the Utah Jazz 118-98. “That name will never die,” Harden said at the post-game podium after scoring 32 points, grabbing 13 boards, and handing out 10 assists in the lopsided contest. “People remember him. I’m just here because he’s one of my close friends and this journey that I’m on is for him. It’s plain and simple. Like that name, Nip, everybody knows that name now. When Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce in 2017, both parties signed non-disclosure agreements barring them from speaking about the relationship or the breakup in interviews. But some stories are too scandalous to stay buried, and a series of lawsuits have resulted in the strange tale of one of Hollywood’s most disastrous marriages being dredged up time and time again. In December of 2018, Heard published an op-ed in the Washington Post in which she referenced the abuse she had allegedly suffered during her marriage. Though she never mentioned him by name in the piece, Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against Heard , alleging that she had violated the NDA. Last week saw the release of court documents in which Depp claimed that Heard tried to cut off his finger , amongst other allegations. Now it’s Heard’s turn to return fire, and based on a filing obtained by Page Six , she’s certainly not holding back. In the documents, Heard claims Depp “would become a totally different person, often delusional and violent. We called that version of Johnny, ‘the Monster.’” She goes on to detail a May 2014 flight from Boston to Los Angeles, during which Depp “began to throw objects at me” after becoming infuriated by news that she had filmed a romantic scene with actor James Franco. “Instead of reacting to his behavior, I simply moved seats,” she said. “That didn’t stop him. He provocatively pushed a chair at me as I walked by, yelled at me, and taunted me by yelling out the name ‘James Franco.’” We racked our brains for a scene in Pineapple Express in which Heard and Franco hook up before remembering that the actors also appeared together in a second film, 2015’s The Adderall Diaries . Apparently, Depp had forgotten that he was married to an actress and was upset to learn that Heard and Franco kissed on camera. Heard goes on to claim that Depp “picked another fight with me” at the couple’s apartment in LA in 2015. She says the actor “threw another decanter at me, knocked items around the room, and punched a wall,” and alleges he “slapped me hard, grabbed me by my hair and dragged me from a stairwell to the office to the living to the kitchen to the bedroom and then to the guest room.” Heard claims that when she told Depp she wanted “to leave him, and that I would call the police if he ever touched me again,” the actor responded by “pushing me” and “head-butted me in my face.” Depp denies that he ever behaved abusively toward Heard. In a statement, Depp’s lawyers argue that he “never abused Ms. Heard, adding: “Her allegations against him were false when they were made in 2016. They were part of an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity for Ms. Heard and advance her career.” Heard’s attorneys fired back, claiming that Depp’s lawsuit is not about the $50 million, but is rather part of a larger campaign to protect Depp’s reputation by preventing Heard from telling her story. “This frivolous action is just the latest of Johnny Depp’s repeated efforts to silence Amber Heard. She will not be silenced,” they wrote in court documents. “Mr. Depp’s actions prove he is unable to accept the truth of his ongoing abusive behavior. But while he appears hell-bent on achieving self-destruction, we will prevail in defeating this groundless lawsuit and ending the continued vile harassment of my client by Mr. Depp and his legal team.” Needless to say, it looks as though this situation will only get uglier from here. With his rugged good looks and casual demeanor, Tim Williams has won the hearts of travelers in search of affordable accommodations in countless commercials for Trivago. Unfortunately, it looks like Tim might be a bit too casual in his attitude toward consuming adult beverages and operating a motor vehicle. TMZ is reporting today that Williams was arrested — at 3:15 pm!!! — on Wednesday after Houston police found him passed out behind the wheel. Fortunately, Williams’ foot was firmly planted on the brake when he lost consciousness. According to TMZ, Williams was given a field sobriety test “which he bombed,” and was then taken into custody. During his time behind bars, Williams submitted to a blood test. It’s unclear what the results were or whether or not he took a Breathalyzer. Williams posted bond and was released after a few hours, but in all likelihood, his legal headaches are just beginning. As for the future of his employment with Trivago — that remains seriously in doubt: “At this stage, we do not have the full details of the situation, but we want to make clear that Trivago treats such incidents very seriously and strongly condemns drinking and driving which poses a risk to others and goes against the Trivago culture,” an official statement from the company reads. Setting aside the hilarity of the phrase “goes against the Trivago culture” (and the idea that doing so is as egregious as threatening lives), it’s a serious statement, and it sounds as though Williams is sure to suffer some form of discipline, possibly even termination. Williams has been a working actor since the mid-’90s and his credits include roles on The Sopranos and in the movie Valkyrie . But it was his role as the Trivago Guy that brought Williams national attention. Far more than the tyipical commercial spokesman, Williams brought a roguish and unexpected sex appeal to his ads for the online travel company, and at this point, he’s essentially the face of the brand. Obviously, Williams’ transgression is a serious one, and he deserves to be punished — still, we’d be more than a little bummed if this were the end of the Trivago Guy.
