Oscar winner Gene Hackman airlifted to the hospital Friday afternoon after he was hit by a car while riding his bike in the Florida Keys, his rep said. Fortunately, the 81-year-old is alright and and on the mend. “Gene was airlifted (because he is on an island) to the hospital for routine tests,” the rep confirmed. “Everything is fine and Gene is on his way home now.” The actor suffered only “a few bumps and bruises.” TMZ, which first reported the accident, said that the collision occurred at around 3 p.m. EST Friday, and the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. Gene was assigned a special hospital room for high-profile patients where doctors could keep a close eye on the star, who suffered a cut on his forehead. Hackman won the Academy Award for Best Actor for 1971’s The French Connection and another Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1992’s Unforgiven . [Photo: WENN.com]
Mena Suvari and Simone Sestito are throwing in the towel. An attorney for the actress, 32, filed divorce papers on her behalf on Friday in L.A. County Superior Court. She and Sestito, a concert promoter, have no kids. According to court papers, Suvari cited “irreconcilable differences” and asked that Sestito receive no spousal support. She cited a separation date of 11/1/11. Mena Suvari and Simone Sestito married in June 2010 in Italy, holding a private church in the Vatican City in what the pair called a “romantic” wedding. The couple met at the Toronto Film Festival in 2007 and got engaged in 2008. This will be Suvari’s second divorce; she split from Robert Brinkmann, in 2005. J.R. Martinez and Ricki Lake have been swapping the first place spot all season on Dancing With the Stars. Last night, it was definitely the latter’s turn on top. While he’s never one to complain (look at all he’s been through in life), J.R. rolled his right ankle in rehearsal and then twisted it again during his routines. The famous smile that lights up the dance floor was barely there Monday, replaced by grimaces of pain and looks of disappointment. His posture was off. J.R. and Karina Smirnoff did manage to turn in a sexy Argentine tango to make up for a subpar Paso Doble, but it’ll be up to fans to carry him through. After dating the singer for several years, Trawick is reportedly planning to propose to the pop star once her tour concludes in Puerto Rico on December 10. She also turns 30 on December 2, another rumored date for their engagement, which sources close to the pair say is inevitable and years in the making. “Britney and Jason discuss marriage all the time. Britney is truly in love with Jason, and well, Jason has loved her for a very long time,” a Spears family insider says . Jason Trawick “adores her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and they are crazy about him. Jason is planning on taking Britney on a secluded getaway once the tour is wrapped, and it’s very likely he will pop the question at that time.” Legally, Britney would need her father’s legal sign-off to get hitched, given that he’s still the conservator of her affairs. An engagement doesn’t require that, though. Also, it’s likely that her engagement would mark a natural end to the conversatorship that’s been in place since 2008. Sean Preston turns six tomorrow! Today, we’re splitting the difference and honoring both youngans with a birthday tribute. Hope Britney, Preston and JJ have some fun stuff planned! Think you know Britney Spears? In an interview with Pop Justice , the star says that you probably do not – and the real Britney Spears is a lot LESS interesting than what you likely imagine. She opens up about bedtime (10:30 p.m.), her gray hairs (or lack thereof) and what she’d be doing if she weren’t famous (“probably a teacher”) and more. When it comes to Britney the real person, as opposed to the pop star, Spears believes most people only know about “half” of what makes her who she is. “I can be pretty guarded with my personal life and I’ve learned that’s okay,” she says. “Your personal life is your personal life, and should stay private.” Keeping people guessing, she says, is part of her job. “Sometimes it’s our secrets that define us,” she says. It’s no secret Britney Spears has had a wild life. So what would she do if her boys – Sean Preston, 5, and Jayden James, 4 – pursued pop stardom? “I’d definitely keep an eye on them,” she says. “But if that’s what they really wanted to do then I’d let them go after it. I’d just be very protective.” “I wouldn’t want them to go into it feeling fearful, and also nobody can really prepare you for this and what you experience,” says the 29-year-old. “I’d just have to trust their instincts and help guide them.” Learning to trust her instincts was hard for her personally. “The biggest mistake I’ve ever made [was] to not trust my instincts,” she says. “It’s just about listening to your gut in different situations.
