It’s been an unimaginably horrific week for one of the world’s most beloved singers. Yesterday, Celine Dion’s husband, Rene Angelil died of cancer , and now, doctors say her beloved brother may have just hours to live. Like Angelil, 59-year-old Daniel Dion has been battling throat cancer. Sources say the cancer has been spreading rapidly, and his family has been informed that it’s only a matter of time. “It looks a lot like René, he had cancer of the throat, tongue and brain,” says Claudette Dion, another of the singer’s 13 siblings. “Our family is very experienced.” She adds, “He is 59 years old, very young to be the end of life…We are with Daniel, day and night.” Celine has reportedly canceled all of her upcoming concerts in Las Vegas in order to be by Daniel’s side and help her family with funeral arrangements once he passes. Claudette says doctors informed the family that Daniel has just “a matter of days or hours,” but adds that he could pull through for another week. The family has made the difficult decision to discontinue the medications that were keeping him alive, and they say their top priority now is ensuring that Daniel is comfortable. Chris Brown’s probation has been revoked, following a progress hearing in the Rihanna assault case, but the singer was not remanded into custody. The decision stems from the R&B singer’s arrest for felony assault and subsequent misdemeanor assault charge following an altercation in D.C. Chris Brown Probation Revoked Brown is scheduled to appear in court in connection with the case on January 8, but because he’s on probation, that opens up a new list of issues. On Monday, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin noted that Brown’s criminal complaint violated the terms of his probation. However, Brandlin did not order the singer to return to jail, saying he was pleased with the troubled singer’s progress in anger management rehab . It’s the second time this year that the 24-year-old has had his probation revoked, and he’s scheduled to return February 10 for another hearing. He could have been jailed as a result of the probation revocation, even without a conviction in the assault case, but neither the state nor the judge wanted that. Brandlin also ordered that Brown stop using medical marijuana, though according to a letter from his rehab facility, he has already stopped using the drug. In November, he was ordered to enter a 90-day treatment program in which he must complete three eight-hour days of community service each week. The Grammy Award winning star has been diagnosed with ADD, according to his probation report, and suffered a “setback mentally and emotionally.” That took place when he was “not credited for all the hours” he served previously during this year’s community service fraud controversy, insiders report. He has also battled depression, but with the aid of other medications, the singer has been able to better “emotionally regulate himself,” his rehab facility says. Here’s hoping he continues on the right path.
New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady hurt his left knee during a scrimmage with Tampa Bay Wednesday, but it looks like he avoided serious injury. Tom Brady Knee Injury During a full team workout, Tampa defensive end Adrian Clayborn bull-rushed Pats left tackle Nate Solder into the side of Brady’s leg as Brady was throwing. All three players hit the turf. Brady rocked backward on the ground holding his left knee. He did, however, get up and limp off the field under his own power. He returned for a few plays before talking with coach Bill Belichick and leaving with trainers. An MRI on Brady’s knee showed no structural damage. Brady, who was adorably visited by Gisele Bundchen and their son after training camp the previous day, is considered day-to-day with a mild sprain. The 36-year-old tore his ACL in the 2008 season opener and missed the rest of the season, but played every game from 2001 until then, and since. Look for the three-time Super Bowl champ to be on the field for the team’s September 8 opener, leading them to another stellar season and shocking playoff loss.

Debbie Rowe took the stand at the Michael Jackson wrongful death trial today, making for an insightful and profoundly emotional experience. Debbie Rowe Testifies at Michael Jackson Trial Jackson’s ex-wife was ordered to testify by AEG Live, who the icon’s family is suing for billions, citing the concert promoters alleged liability for his demise. The Jacksons say AEG was negligent by ignoring warning signs, pushing MJ more than he could take, and hiring Dr. Conrad Murray to oversee his health. On the stand, Rowe found herself explaining Jackson’s relationship with his doctors, and with drugs, which turns out to be the centerpiece of the case. Through tears, she lamented his longtime battle with addiction , saying, “His fear of pain was incredible and I think the doctors took advantage in that way.” “Michael expected doctors to do no harm. Unfortunately, some doctors decided when Michael was in pain they would try to help him, and so he listened.” Debbie Rowe explained that when she was working for Dr. Arnold Klein, she would sometimes go to Jackson’s house twice a day to check on him. She would also go on the weekend, adding that the doctors were competing for MJ business and would call him and tell him they had better drugs. At one point, she called Dr. Allan Metzger and told him that Klein wasn’t doing what was best for Michael, and that Metzger was good for the star. Or at least he might have been. We’ll never know, she lamented, blurting out at one point, “‘Cause Conrad Murray got in there and killed him.” Rowe said Dr. Steven Hoefflin would give Jackson Propofol when he would have his burn scars injected, and only when having a procedure done. However, Rowe added that at times, she knew about when one doctor would just give him Propofol and put him under for 4-5 hours without treatment. She said she talked with Jackson about the problem but “he was worried about the pain … I’m probably one of the one people that said no to him.” Debbie Rowe , interestingly, was called as a witness by AEG, which is looking to establish a pattern of drug abuse that Michael alone is responsible for. They believe her stories will prove that they are not complicit in the King of Pop’s death; Rowe herself does not see eye to eye with them there, though. Debbie feels AEG is responsible for pushing him too hard in spite of this though, adding, “There is no way he could ever do a concert two nights in a row.” “His shows are so physical. My concern was it was a little drastic to do something like that. We were in another country and I didn’t know any of the medications.” She said she worried “what happens if you die,” but mentioned that Jackson himself was not too worried, but “was more worried about not sleeping.” Thus, he took more Propofol than ever. Rowe will resume testimony tomorrow as the complex, high-stakes case winds toward an uncertain end.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills showed there’s “No Business Like Clothes Business” while bad taste can still be very expensive. We recap drunken breakups and unexpected makeups in our THG +/- review Can you feel the love? It’s the ladies last night in Paris and the city of love was definitely rubbing off on our housewives. Plus 10. That doesn’t happen often. Brandi’s actually making friends. She and Kim are half way to being BFFs as they bond over sobriety and Yolanda graces Brandi with a new pair of shoes. Plus 15. Who would have seen that coming at the beginning of the season? There’s only one flaw in the evening. Ken’s jacket. Minus 9. What was up with the sparkly gold lapels? The entire trip even makes Lisa consider renewing her vows with Ken. Paris must really have some super powers. Back in Beverly Hills Lisa invites over Kevin Lee, the flamboyant party planner they used for Pandora’s wedding. Minus 12 . Is this really the guy you call for a chic, intimate housewarming / vow renewal ceremony? I can only imagine what over the top nonsense he’ll recommend. Taylor visits with Dana. We haven’t seen her since last season. Now we know why. Dana’s completely wasted. She admits she drinks too much, smokes too much and f*cks too much but she’s OK with that. Her fiance left her and took the Lamborghini he gave her for her birthday. Minus 11. The funniest moment was Dana calling Brandi Glanville a low life and that she didn’t measure up to housewives status as she sat there stoned, lighting her cigarette with a candle. I think someones a little bitter about not being asked back for season 3. Yolanda and David have a photo shoot and wow! Plus 20 . Yolanda may be officially out of the modeling game but she certainly hasn’t lost her touch. She looked gorgeous and she and her husband made quite a stunning couple. Finally we’re off the big opening of Kyle’s new store, Kyle by Alene Too. Does Kyle actually design anything? No. She picks out what she likes and resells it in her boutique. But every time Kyle raved about an outfit I thought eww. MInus 18. Let’s just say that even if I had the money, I wouldn’t be shopping at Kyle’s. Everyone shows up for the opening. Even Faye. Minus 22. Can’t we leave the wannabes at home? Paul and Adrienne show up. No one has seen them in a while but honestly, did anyone really miss them? Taylor’s reevaluating her relationships and tells Yolanda that it wasn’t her she hated, it was only her husband. Minus 13. Yeah, that didn’t go over so well. So did Kim really mix up her medications? Maybe. Like she said, she’s got a lot of trust to earn back. Plus 15. It certainly appears that she’s trying. Next week it looks like Faye goes after Brandi once again. Maybe Yolanda can pelt her with lemons until she leaves. We can only hope. Episode total = -25! Season total = -334!
Gonorrhea Is Now Resistant To Its Last Remaining Cure If you needed any more convincing, here’s another reason you just have to wrap it up. The sexually transmitted disease, gonorrhea, colloquially known as “the clap,” may soon have no drugs left to treat the infection. Lab studies are showing an increasing resistance to the type of drugs that doctors use to treat gonorrhea, called cephalosporins. That leaves only a few options, which are not as effective. “Cephalosporin-resistant gonorrhea could potentially mean untreatable gonorrhea,” says Dr. Gail Bolan, director of the Division of STD Prevention at the CDC. “Untreatable gonorrhea is a real possibility.” Gonorrhea has already become resistant to every other class of drug used to treat it. For that reason, the CDC is urging doctors to immediately change their practice and begin treating with an injectable cephalosporin and adding one of two oral medications — azithromycin or doxycycline. Certain patients will need to return to the doctor in a week for a repeat test to ensure the medications worked. Any partners in the 60 days prior to diagnosis should be treated as soon as possible. Gonorrhea is transmitted through sexual contact with the penis, vagina, mouth or anus of an infected partner, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ejaculation does not have to occur to pass the disease. It can also spread from a mother to her child during childbirth. Over 300,000 cases are reported each year, and it’s estimated that the number is closer to 700,000, since many people go undiagnosed or untreated, and continue to pass it on. Untreated, gonorrhea has major implications for women, causing infertility, ectopic pregnancy — a life-threatening condition where the pregnancy is outside of the uterus — and a deeper infection that spreads into the uterus, fallopian tubes and the pelvis. Ew ew ew. Basically, in case you were wondering, you shouldn’t be messing with that raw doggie stuff. Get tested and stay safe. They got super diseases out there now. Source

Larry King’s wife Shawn Southwick reportedly overdosed on prescription drugs in what investigators are considering a suicide bid. Fortunately, Shawn failed. It all went down May 28 when Shawn’s dad called 911 from the Kings’ home in Provo, Utah, telling the dispatcher Shawn was breathing but not responsive. Shawn King left a handwritten note stating she OD’d on purpose and indicated where she wanted to be buried, according to police, who found a lot meds. Larry King says their marriage is still intact, despite both of them filing for divorce in April. Later, they called it off and decided to make the marriage work. Apparently things went south between then and May 28, though. Shawn King with Larry and their two sons . Among the medications found at the home, Subutex is used to treat narcotic addiction, while Cymbalta is an anti-depressant and Lyrica a seizure treatment. Klonopin and Clonazepam are anti-anxiety meds. Bottles of those two, along with Ambien, were empty and had been filled within 10 days of the incident. Sources close to Shawn Southwick say she battles depression, which started, continued and never stopped over Larry King’s alleged affair with her sister. Shawn has been “extremely depressed” for more than five years, and the trigger is believed to be Larry’s long-term involvement with Shannon Engemann . If you’ve been following this story, you may recall that several years ago, this all blew up in Larry’s face, and he made a peace offering to Shawn King. At that point, Larry transferred title to all three of the couple’s homes to Shawn’s name alone. Yet for years, she still believed that he was doing Shannon. She has denied an affair with King, so it’s not clear what went on. But a source says, “She fought like crazy to remain sane, just to take care of her kids.” Married since 1996, they have two boys under the age of 10. Their baseball coach, Hector Penate , says he had an affair with Shawn … often. Anyway … Shawn remains depressed even after reconciling with Larry, says a source: “Shawn’s not a pill popper, but feels it’s her only way to deal with depression.” We hope she finds a better one, and soon.
