‘HTGAWM’ Recap: Annalise Pisses Off The Governor With Another Major Win

Read the original here:

Source: Mitch Haaseth / Getty Tonight’s episode of How to Get Away With Murder finds Annalise in the thick of her Nate Sr appeal case. It’s not looking too good right now, especially when the court throws a wrench in their plans. They find out that Nate Jr is being called to the stand as a surprise witness, something they weren’t prepared for. The thing is, Nate wrote a letter, when he was a kid, saying that he felt safer with his father behind bars. Nate claims he doesn’t even remember writing the letter and no longer feels that way, but that obviously doesn’t go over well in court, so Annalise and her students have to work in overdrive to figure out how to come out on top.  Meanwhile, Bonnie is spiraling because Nate dug up a whole lot of trauma. She heads to Nate’s house to ask why he did what he did. In her mind, he meant to do her dirty, but we know that Nate is a genuinely good guy and he did a very naive thing. He explains that he did what he did because he thought it would help but Bonnie reminds him that he just triggered her all over again. She tried to kill herself over that situation and managed to get past it but now she’s going to have to try to build herself back up again. Nate wants to try to make it better but there’s nothing he can do at this point. Eventually, we find Annalise and Nate together kicking it and discussing the case. Nate said he lied on the stand and that he did actually remember writing the letter. Again, he was a kid when he wrote it, stressed out and angry with his father. When he saw the cops taking his father away he was upset and felt like the cops were the good guys and his dad wasn’t and he wanted to be like the cops. It’s clear that he feels terrible about that decision and he’s stressed about what his testimony did to the case but Annalise reminds him who tf she is! She took her appeals case to the supreme court and won. Do you think she’s going to lose in Philly? Nah! It’s going to be hard because the governor has a vendetta against her for doing this in the first place, and even sends a psychologist who worked with Nate Sr. years ago to testify and to poke holes in the insanity defense. Little did the psych know is that Michaela convinced Asher to dig up some dirt on him and basically, it’s clear that he works for the governor’s office so of course, he’s on the stand saying what’s necessary to stay in his boss’ good graces. His entire testimony gets thrown out because Annalise ain’t playing no games! Then Nate Sr. takes the stand and hold that thought… Bonnie ends up telling her boyfriend, Ronald, everything that happened in her childhood, and about her getting pregnant at 15 and now learning that her son might be alive. After hearing all of that he still wants to be with her and she is a wreck, but he consoles her and they come up with a plan. Hold that thought. The jury finally reaches a verdict and all of Annalise’s fierce fighting (and her students too) pays off. The jury’s verdict is not guilty by reason of insanity. Annalise’s poster case a victory. This. Is. A. Big. Deal.   His father will be transferred to a suitable psychiatric facility. Nate Sr. and Nate Jr. have a beautiful moment in the courtroom where they hug it out and exchange forgiveness. Annalise talks to the press about how dope she is, Laurel lets Frank know that she knows he has been stalking Gabe for something a lot deeper than just researching Annalise’s students but we’ll have to wait for the answer. Finally, the episode wraps with Bonnie and Ron going to see her sister and then we cut back to the wedding. Connor looking for Oliver but he finds Asher going down on his mom. Ew! Two more episodes until we find out who died at the wedding. RELATED POSTS ‘HTGAWM’ Recap: If [Redacted] Dies, We Riot ‘HTGAWM’ Recap: Nate Digs Up Another Bone From Bonnie’s Graveyard Of Secrets

Black 4-Year-Olds Tied Up By Preschool Teachers In Georgia

See the original post here:

T wo Black 4-year-old girls were allegedly tied up by their preschool teachers in Decatur, Georgia, last week, and one of the children’s mothers said her daughter has not been her usual self since. SEE ALSO: Texas Cop Shoots Unarmed Black Man For Entering His Own Truck The two female teachers were “accused of zip-tying the children’s hands behind their backs as a form of punishment” on Sept. 24,  WSB-TV reported. The teachers resigned on Friday. The students claimed the teachers “threatened to throw spiders on them if they didn’t stop acting up,” the report continued. Tyisha Fernandes , one of the girls’ mothers, claimed her daughter “said, ‘mommy, I was scared to tell you because I thought I was going to get in trouble.’” The principal of Oak View Elementary in DeKalb County sent a letter to parents two days after the alleged incident. “This letter is written to make you aware of an incident that occurred at our school last week,”  Sabrina Pressley wrote in part. “The incident took place in one of our pre-k classrooms. A parent brought it to our attention on Tuesday.” The letter confirmed the teachers were under investigation and have been removed as staff members, conflicting with earlier reports of their resignations. “The safety and security of our children continues to be one of our main priorities,” the letter concluded. “We sincerely thank you for helping us in this endeavor.” Hopefully, the names of these teachers will be made public and they will never teach again. No child should be treated like this in America or anywhere else in the world. Ariana Grande: My First Kiss With Pete Davidson Was So F–king Epic!

Pete Davidson has been pretty blunt about how he’s always horny for Ariana Grande . But there’s more to these two than sexual chemistry and a major height difference. Now, Ariana is speaking about their first kiss, and sharing some surprising details. More than once, Ariana has destroyed claims that she cheated on Mac Miller . To those conspiracy theorists, she and Pete secretly hooked up years ago. In real life, though, Ariana’s relationship with Pete began in late May — and now, speaking on Nicki MInaj’s Queen Radio , Ariana describes their first kiss. “It was sick,” Ariana gushes. “It was so dope!” Ariana gives a little more detail about the kiss, and even before their lips touched, she says, “It was so cute.” She reveals: “He asked me for permission to kiss me!” Asking for consent before your first kiss is not only cute, it’s a good sign. What’s the opposite of a red flag when it comes to dating? “It’s kind of complicated,” Ariana says. “Because it wasn’t too naughty of a kiss.” Naughty kiss sounds like a goofy British euphamism akin to  sweep the special chimney , but clearly she just means that it was an emotionally charged but relatively chaste kiss. Ariana then struggles to describe the passion between them, saying: “But it was like … there was so much … in there, you know?” Go ahead, get all of the jokes about Ariana’s phrasing here and  Pete Davidson’s impressive dong out of your system. We’ll wait. Ariana meant that there was so much emotional significance  in their kiss . “It was really sweet,” Ariana continues to gush. She says that, lack of naughtiness aside, it was a huge turn-on. “But,” Ariana dishes. “It was also really sexy.” Though a lot of people have wanted to keep seeing Ariana as young and innocent, she’s been a grown woman for years, even if she’s still the height of a fourth grader. Ariana has made very adult nature very, very clear in her music, interviews, and music videos. Ariana also shares that, kissing aside, she loves her engagement to Pete. “We have a lot of fun,” she shares. The two of them just click with each other and have similar sense of humor on top of all of that infamous sexual chemistry. “He’s like my best friend …” Ariana affirms. In terms of their overall relationship, which is still just a few months old, she reveals: “it gets better every day.” Ariana continues to gush about Pete, saying that they seem to mirror each other. “We’re the boy-girl version of each other,” Ariana explains. Of course, physically speaking, they’re more like fun house mirror versions of each other. Ariana resorts to hyperbole, saying: “He’s, like, 70 feet tall, and I’m 4 inches tall!” That’s not the literal case, of course, but Pete does have a good 15 inchest on Ariana’s 5-foot-0. And that’s not counting his penis. There is statistical evidence that suggests that their height difference might help Pete and Ariana’s relationship last . If we had to guess, we’d say that this famous first kiss took place on, like, May 20th at the Billboard Music Awards, or within the next few days. Maybe, like, the day before. But we wouldn’t be surprised if that kiss took place backstage. Good for Ariana and for Pete for living their best and sexiest lives. We really are rooting for them, as individuals but also as a couple. View Slideshow: 29 Hottest Ariana Grande Photos of All Time

Azealia Banks to Elon Musk: Sorry! You’re Not Really a Balding Drug Addict!

One of the most amusing gossip items of August had to do with the highly unexpected feud between Azealia Banks and Elon Musk . In case you’re unfamiliar with those names, they perfectly represent the two main archetypes of American egomania: Banks is the gifted artist whose rage over the fact that she still has to ride the subway like a plebe has driven her to repeatedly sabotage her own career. Conversely, Musk is quite successful financially but is consistently driven mad over the world’s unwillingness to recognize him as the heir to Einstein, Edison, Henry Ford, and Jesus H. Christ. In other words, they may not seem to have much in common — Banks is a self-made creative, whereas Mush is a left-brain cyborg who could’ve spent his entire life blowing his family’s emerald mine fortune. But at the end of the day, Banks and Musk are just two sides of the same narcissistic coin. Perhaps that’s why they clashed upon first meeting, then later realized they were destined to join forces. Allow us to explain: Earlier this month, NYC-based Banks spent some time in LA with the intention of collaborating on a song with Musk’s girlfriend, Grimes. So she paid a visit to Musk’s sprawling mansion and found it to have less of a “Tony Stark” vibe and more of an “Allison Williams’ parent’s house in Get Out ” feel. In addition to comparing her experience to Jordan Peele’s horror classic, Banks says she witnessed a wealth of appallingly self-destructive behavior from both Musk and Grimes. Banks referred to Musk as a “giant d–k” and a “beta male who took steroids and hair plugs to convince himself he’s alpha.” She also accused Musk of conducting business while tripping on LSD, and Grimes of being a meth addict. She later alleged that Musk had stolen her phone so that he could “delete evidence” of their encounter. Needless to say, after all that it was quite a surprise to see that Banks had issued a public apology to Musk: “I feel terrible about everything,” reads the now-deleted open letter that was posted to Banks’ Instagram page. “Over the time spent liaising said collaborations [with Grimes], I was welcomed to a lot of personal information about you,” Banks wrote. “The stuff made me feel awkward and uncomfortable about being privy to you, yet I never had the intentions of ever using the information against you. She added: “What started off as a cat-fight lead to some seriously unexpected consequences and I seriously apologize.” Interestingly, Banks’ refused to use Grimes name throughout the letter, referring to her would-be collaborator only with a pair of empty quotation marks. After posting the letter, Banks deleted her Instagram account, but now appears to have re-instated her account. We’ll continue to monitor this weird-ass situation and let you know if it gets any weirder. View Slideshow: Azealia Banks and Her Beefs: Who’s She Shading Now?

Brock Turner Rape Victim Speaks Out, Declares: I’m a Survivor

For the first time since Brock Turner was freed from prison, the woman he raped has released a public statement. Turner, of course, is the Stanford University student who was convicted of rape this past spring, only for a judge to sentence him to a mere six months behind bars. The case made national news after Turner’s victim, who preferred to remain anonymous, addressed her attacker in court. Within four days, her statement had been viewed 11 million times; was read aloud on CNN; and also on the floor of Congress. It also made national news because Turner was found guilty of assaulting this woman behind a dumpster in an alley… and yet his father dismissed the action as nothing more than a drunken mistake. His mother said the same thing and Turner himself blamed both his alcohol intake and even that of his victim for his actions. Turner was released from jail after just three months and was forced to register as a sex offender. But that was a pretty small price to pay for that he did. Now, Glamour has named Emily Doe its Woman of the Year and has given her a platform to share her thoughts on Turner, his conviction, his sentencing, his release and, of course, her role in this sad tale. Out of respect for the victim, we are simply going to run her statement to Glamour in its entirety below. She deserves to tell her story in full, without any commentary or editorializing from our staff… From the beginning, I was told I was a best case scenario. I had forensic evidence, sober unbiased witnesses, a slurred voice mail, police at the scene. I had everything, and I was still told it was not a slam dunk. I thought, if this is what having it good looks like, what other hells are survivors living?  I’m barely getting through this but I am being told I’m the lucky one, some sort of VIP. It was like being checked into a hotel room for a year with stained sheets, rancid water, and a bucket with an attendant saying, No this is great! Most rooms don’t even have a bucket. After the trial I was relieved thinking the hardest part was over, and all that was left was the sentencing. I was excited to finally be given a chance to read my statement and declare, I am here. I am not that floppy thing you found behind the garbage, speaking melted words. I am here, I can stand upright, I can speak clearly, I’ve been listening and am painfully aware of all the hurt you’ve been trying to justify. I yelled half of my statement. So when it was quickly announced that he’d be receiving six months, I was struck silent. Immediately I felt embarrassed for trying, for being led to believe I had any influence. The violation of my body and my being added up to a few months out of his summer. The judge would release him back to his life, back to the 40 people who had written him letters from Ohio. I began to panic; I thought, this can’t be the best case scenario. If this case was meant to set the bar, the bar had been set on the floor. The morning after the sentencing, my phone screen was stacked with texts and I turned it over saying, not today, on this day I deserve to sleep. My phone kept ringing and I learned that BuzzFeed was waiting for my permission to publish my court statement in full. As soon as it was posted, I remember thinking, what have I done, making myself exposed and vulnerable again. I texted my sister when it hit 20,000 views, thinking that was it, the comments were actually quite nice, and I closed my computer. I started getting e-mails forwarded to me from Botswana to Ireland to India. I received watercolor paintings of lighthouses and bicycle earrings. A woman who plucked a picture of her young daughter from the inside of her cubicle wrote, This is who you’re saving . When I received an e-mail that Joe Biden had written me a letter I was sitting in my pajamas eating some cantaloupe. You are a warrior. I looked around my room, who is he talking to. You have a steel spine, I touched my spine. I printed his letter out and ran around the house flapping it in the air. There was, of course, the wee sprinkle of trolls. Some photos of me leaked and someone said, “She’s not pretty enough to have been raped.” In response I say, damn I wish the world could see me. I wish you could see my big, beautiful head and huge eyes. Perhaps now you are at home imagining me looking like some sort of bloated owl. That’s all right. When Ashleigh Banfield read my letter on the news I sat stunned watching her speak my words, imagining them being spoken on every television set in the nation. Watching women and men at Gracie Mansion, on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, girls in their rooms, gathered together to read each segment, holding my words in their voices. My body seemed too small to hold what I felt. In the very beginning of it all in 2015, one comment managed to lodge harmfully inside me: Sad. I hope my daughter never ends up like her. I absorbed that statement. Ends up. As if we end somewhere, as if what was done to me marked the completion of my story. Instead of being a role model to be looked up to, I was a sad example to learn from, a story that caused you to shield your daughter’s eyes and shake your heads with pity. But when my letter was published, no one turned away. No one said I’d rather not look, it’s too much, or too sad. Everyone pushed through the hard parts, saw me fully to the end, and embraced every feeling. If you think the answer is that women need to be more sober, more civil, more upright, that girls must be better at exercising fear, must wear more layers with eyes open wider, we will go nowhere. When Judge Aaron Persky mutes the word justice, when Brock Turner serves one month for every felony, we go nowhere. When we all make it a priority to avoid harming or violating another human being, and when we hold accountable those who do, when the campaign to recall this judge declares that survivors deserve better, then we are going somewhere. So now to the one who said, I hope my daughter never ends up like her, I am learning to say, I hope you end up like me, meaning, I hope you end up like me strong. I hope you end up like me proud of who I’m becoming. I hope you don’t “end up,” I hope you keep going. And I hope you grow up knowing that the world will no longer stand for this. Victims are not victims, not some fragile, sorrowful aftermath. Victims are survivors, and survivors are going to be doing a hell of a lot more than surviving.

They STILL Hatin’: Journalist Shares Racist Letter Sent To Her About Cam Newton

Journalist Posts Racist Letter About Cam Newton And Black People On Twitter Even weeks after the losing Super Bowl 50, there are STILL people mad at Cam Newton… Via HuffingtonPost Cam Newton received a lot of hate during his MVP season. Some of it was arguably a result of generational differences, but the racial factor certainly played a significant role as well. On Saturday, Newsday’s Jets beat writer Kimberly Martin shared some proof of that in the form a letter she received from a reader. The letter contained hateful, racist language about Cam Newton and black people in general. In the letter Martin posted to Twitter, slurs are tossed around a number of times along with horrible stereotypes and lazy comparisons. “…Do yourself a favor and stay away from them as much as possible.” #PostRacialAmerica pic.twitter.com/lb9jXDNYri — Kimberley A. Charlie Sheen: Brett Rossi is a Prostitute! I Never Forced Her to Get an Abortion!

In the weeks since we first learned that Charlie Sheen is HIV positive , several women have come forward claiming that the actor put them at risk by failing to tell them about his condition. Several former sex partner’s of Sheen’s have filed suit , alleging that the 50-year-old endangered their lives. Sheen’s ex-fiancee, Brett Rossi, says she had unprotected sex with Sheen on at least five occasions before discovering HIV medication in his medicine cabinet. But that’s not why Rossi suing Sheen. No, her claim is that Sheen forced her to have an abortion , and she’s seeking unspecified punitive damage for the emotional abuse that she says she suffered while he was pressuring her to terminate the pregnancy. Now, Sheen is hitting back in his usual style.  In court papers obtained by Us Weekly, Sheen not only denies forcing Rossi to get an abortion, he accuses her of extortion and working as a prostitute while they were engaged. “This is a case by an extortionist, Scottine Ross aka Brett Rossi…who gets paid for sex as a prostitute and a porn star,” says a document filed by Sheen’s lawyers. “Rossi is banking on the fact that Sheen will pay her millions of dollars to avoid the negative publicity surrounding this action… Rossi wants revenge” and to “punish Sheen for breaking off their engagement and cutting her off financially.” The attorneys go on to claim that Rossi was aware of Sheen’s illness from the start of their relationship, and they say they can prove that her claims of physical abuse are entirely fabricated. Sources say Sheen had initially planned to settle out of court, but is now hoping the case goes to trial so that he can prove his point. View Slideshow: 18 Celebrities with HIV
